Was doing this: Not much to it...but hey, at least we had all six of our aircraft in our formation... FastCargo -

Totally not in keeping with the theme, but after seeing this at the airshow I was just in: Figured I'd do it myself: FastCargo -

Someday I will complete and release the Northrop 2 seaters. I just have no motivation at the moment. FastCargo -

It's not a Lavi, it's a J-10 dressed up in Lavi clothes. Not to say it doesn't look semi-convincing. FastCargo -

Actually, moving the Pivot Point doesn't work...because that's what I tried first. I move Pivot Points around all the time for my meshes. But this doesn't work for vertex scaling. Try it yourself and you'll see that the scaling center has nothing to do with the actual pivot point location unless that's changed in MAX from version 9 or later. FastCargo -
I'd have to agree with others here. Though I've never read the books, I was beginning to find the whole Bond schitck kind of boring...too 'plastic'. I like the new Bond and look forward to seeing QoS. I'd also agree Sean Connery played it closer to the original...and surprisingly, I thought Tim Dalton did pretty respectable as well. I know folks don't give him a lot of credit for Bond, but I liked the way he did it. FastCargo

There normally is no such thing as a dumb question...except the one I heard today: By someone who looked mature enough to have been around at the time it happened. I crap you negative, what you see is what was said. We'll be talking about that one for MONTHS. FastCargo

Since our MAX files are incompatible, I'll try to explain what I do for drag chute animation using scaling vertices. First, I build the drag chute in it's deployed condition: Now, the problem is that if I select all the verticies to scale them (in animation), the scaling will only do it around the 'center' of the selected verticies: You can see that the scaling will not be right...it will 'scale' several meters from the aircraft. How to fix? First, zoom WAY out. Like this picture: The circled red area is the whole aircraft. Now, select the drag chute, and select 'Insert vertex'. Put a new vertex in the middle of the parachute...but WAAAY forward on the Y axis. Like this (circled red area): You only need one. What this does is cause the 'center' of all the vertices of the drag chute to move forward, like this: Now, you can animate using vertex scaling! Usually I compress the drag chute first so it becomes a thin rod: Then scale it into the jet. In reverse, it looks like the chute comes out compacted, then 'fills' with air. I also use TCB for the animation controller for vertice scaling. I hope this gives you an idea on how I animate drag chutes. FastCargo -
Missile racks
FastCargo replied to SkippyBing's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
You could make the rack part of the missile. Did that with the ALARMs because they use a specific missile rail that I haven't seen used on any other missile. FastCargo -
Bastage, I could have told you that if I hadn't been flyin! That wreck had been sitting at KSKF for YEARS, saw it all the time. FastCargo

I have a technique that I use for scaling animation as well for my chutes. I can send you the file if you like. FastCargo PS Please check your messages -
Gramps Russian Speech Pack
FastCargo replied to a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
Well, just tried it. The good news, it didn't crash the program. The bad news, it didn't work. Even going into the startup.ini where there are a couple of nice looking lines: [speech] DataFile=Speech.cat TextFile=SpeechText.cat And altering those didn't work...heck, even just trying a vanilla Speech.cat file didn't work. Was worth a shot anyway... FastCargo -
Gramps Russian Speech Pack
FastCargo replied to a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
Well, it could work the same way as other things...it doesn't find the cat file needed and simply uses what's available. After all, there are all the wav files, plus a SpeechText.cat file which simply contains a file call SpeechText.str. I'd say use the cat creater to create a CAT file with all those wavs, name it as in the NATIONS.ini file states above, then delete (or just move) the wavs, and see if it works or just crashes the program.
