  1. US tanker contract annoucement this week

    Yeah...go figure... FastCargo
  2. Also, I will tell you that unless you have a lot of experience in 3d modeling, that may not be the best way to start modding in this series. But like everyone else has said, hit the Knowledge Base FIRST! FastCargo
  3. Drdoyo, Hey man, I fly in that same business too ya know...I certainly understand the risks involved there. Tomcat_ace, the message all of us are trying to get across is that aviation itself is inherently risky. You can be totally on your A game, have all the money, time, equipment needed...and still not come home that day. FastCargo
  4. Sparkvark?

Picture of the old mod (using an F-111A lod with bits added on by me): Nice skin there Sundowner... Anyway, now that the MAX files have been located, a better proper model will be out later... FastCargo
  5. Are you trying to change the balloon altitude in FE? This is from my WOI ASAT package which includes a 'satellite'. The 'satellite' is simply a balloon that has been placed REALLY high. Note the area in bold: Hope this helps. FastCargo
  6. Harry Turtledove's How Few Remain

Well, I'm a big fan of Turtledove's stuff...and I have just about (not all) of the books in that particular timeline. They're pretty good...though sometimes it can get overwhelming with all the characters. FastCargo
  7. Scrapper, You haven't assigned a material to it yet, that's why it's that bright white. FastCargo
  8. As far as I know, the CF-188 uses the same pit and aircraft model as the F/A-18. I would say apply the fix as listed, then simply rename everything in the new F/A-18 directory as CF-188. That's my guess. FastCargo
  9. No...spent 6 years of my life at Laughlin, currently at Randolph. If he ends up being a T-38 FAIP, I'll probably see him there. FastCargo
  10. It truly is all relative. An example is this: Laughlin AFB in Texas is one of the USAFs basic Pilot Training bases of the 4 that we have. There are so many traffic movements (defined as takeoffs and landings) that we usually EXCEED the busiest airports in the world. That's for ONE base for ONE branch of the military service...for BASIC pilot training. Multiply that by the number of bases, by the number of programs (transition, weapon system checkout and operations) and you start to truly get an idea how much we fly. With those kinds of rates...statistics simply start catching up. As I was telling someone else on another message board who made the very foolish statement that safety should always be first: We try like hell to manage risk... but sometimes, it's not your day. It's sad when it happens...I've buried more friends than I care to think about. But we try to learn lessons from it and go from there. FastCargo
  11. Because campaign makers do not own all the pieces needed. There are complete campaigns out there...but most of them are over 100 MB in size. FastCargo
  12. Laughlin?? You poor soul...I spent 6 years of my career there.... FastCargo
  13. That's a waste of a perfectly good bottle of Weed... FastCargo
  14. Happy Birthday FastCargo

Hey you weren't supposed to tell anybody Dave! Thanks for the well wishes guys...spent most of the day dealing with Time Warner Cable.... But hey, I got Animaniacs and Samurai Jack for my birthday... FastCargo
  15. Don't get too excited...for those who don't know, these are not new aircraft, but aircraft that have had 'fuel tanks' in the shape of canards added to them. They do not fly any different than their normal counterparts. The F-15D you see using TVC is using independent controls...it is NOT pitch linked. These were things I whipped up because I was tired of studying for my checkride (now complete). Is there any interest in these things? Again, the 'canards' will not move, and do not change the flying characteristics of the aircraft at all. The thrust vectoring is only done using a seperate control and is NOT pitch linked...which may not be a big deal if you have a HOTAS. FastCargo
  16. There is a sim that has the X-31....it's called Jane's ATF or Jane's Fighter Anthology. FastCargo
  17. Pic Of The Day.....

I have SO got to get out there in July when I come up for the airshow... FastCargo
  18. Klavs81, nice work. Take all the time you need. FastCargo
  19. You mean a Mirage IIIS? FastCargo
  20. Reference this thread. http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showt...3&hl=hornet Follow my instructions in that thread to the letter. FastCargo
  21. RAF defeats USAF ...

Mustaches actually are fine in the USAF...just the size that matters....so to speak. The biggest issue with any facial hair is getting a proper seal on the oxygen mask, especially with the newer style where there is an inner 'lip' inside the mask. Unfortunately, any mustaches I've grown...look like crap. I look much better with a goatee...but can't have that in either job for the same reason as above... Anyway, congrats to our exchange bretheren...glad he's around! FastCargo
  22. Also, as far as I can tell, it doesn't work yet anyway. I'd love something like that for my Hellfires and ALARMs. FastCargo
  23. Also, Florian has some helpful files that detail what most functions do in the cockpit.ini file. Best thing to do is look through other cockpit.ini files to start getting an idea on how things work. What I've found so far is that cockpits are not conceptually that hard to build. But it's very tedious work because there are so many fiddly bits, especially in older cockpits with lots of needles. FastCargo
  24. Relax, they're probably just going through maintenance or something. I'd say just keep checking back with them. FastCargo
