OT: Okay, Europe might be a different deal...but no waterbomber I know in the US makes $200k+ a year... Okay, back on topic. I'm sorry I gave you the ini entries from the old version of the Popeye missiles. The new versions are all LGRs. And the B-52 actually had to carry the data link pod as well, so just make one of the Popeye hardpoints able to carry a LP. That should work for ya. As far as flyable B-52s, there really aren't any available other than what you see here at Combatace. I think what happened with the B-52E to G models was that they were in the process of being built when the modder (Wpnssgt?) had a serious HD crash and lost a lot of his stuff. So he decided to release the B-52 "as is" because he didn't want to start from zero again (I can certainly understand THAT). FastCargo -

How about this accident? Or this one? Or this? There are many ways to have an inadvertent ground excursion in an aircraft...none of them involving a fictional 'auto brake release' system. Hell, the brakes could be LOCKED, and at firewall power, a lot of aircraft will simply start skidding without the wheels turning. FastCargo

Gents, since my child load factor has doubled, my time has become more limited. So, before I start a big project (no, I am not going to tell you what it is), I'm going to clean up my old projects that I had released already. Sort of 'shoulda, woulda, coulda' stuff. Some require new LODs, new textures, or just new readmes. With that in mind, up first is the Pave Knife: Found a few new pictures on the net (on a Czech Republic website no less) that had nice pictures of the laser emitting area of the pod. So I decided, along with the texture improvement, to rebuild the front end to encase the 'channel and bubble'. However, the texture on the USAF pod is a compromise. Reasoning: It appears that when the pod is in use, the sensor rotates from all the way up (so the laser is underneath the 'canoe' fairing on the top of the pod) to all the way down, like you see in the screenshots. No big deal for the USN version...it's white all over. However, in the USAF version of the pod, when the laser is 'stowed', the pod is all white underneath, all camo up top. HOWEVER, when the laser is deployed, the front of the pod rotates...which means that the front colors are reversed. On a USAF pod in other words, when working, you see a camo colored 'canoe' over a white top/camo bottom nose...then halfway down the length of the pod, the colors are switched to the camo top/white bottom. Frankly, it's A) ass backwards (typical USAF logic) and B) silly looking. So I decided to make the colors arrangement as you see it. It's not 'correct', but it looks a whole lot better. New update...available in a few hours: MOAB updated with better texture for the drag chute and: Proper release animation now! Also, the 'Daisy Cutter (BLU-82)' has been taken out of the download...because a MUCH better one is already available in the last version of the Weapons Pack. If I had known that, I wouldn't have built it in the first place...I REALLY gotta double check when I start a project. Anyway folks, this should be the last of my projects to be updated. I'm satisfied with the quality of my other stuff... FastCargo -

However, the TW engine may not support such a long range SAM. And, though I didn't make one, there was a version of the SA-5 with a nuclear warhead! Maybe something you'll want to play with... I have included all the texture templates along with the reference materials I used to build the models. Note there were several paint schemes...plus pictures of missiles in various states of repair. The templates should make it easier to make paint schemes for specific theatres...and to make better skins for the launch rail and Square Pair radar. The Square Pair radar was VERY hard to find pictures of (I only found 2) so the model is very basic and most guesstimating. I have included an experimental Barlock_data.ini file. It's a beta test of using the Barlock as a EW radar for the SA-5/Square Pair system...allowing for possibly VERY long engagement ranges for the SA-5. Okay, I want someone here to show me a reference that says Airbuses have this feature. Show me where it says this and I'll stop harping about it. Because as of right now, such a feature does NOT exist on the A300/310, and I haven't seen any references to it in the A320 family either. Convince me. Hmmm...that's called pilot error. You know, such as the crash of regional jet that tried a takeoff on the wrong runway. Or the B757 that crashed short of the runway in Columbia because they set the wrong altitude. I could go on. Large turbofans have slower response times than your average military jet...especially at idle to firewall power. Horrible throttle response time? As compared to what? A F-22? I've flown Boeings, McDs, and Airbus...been (or currently) qualified in each. Let me dispel this misinformation right now. Throttle-wise, a CFM56 seems just as responsive and powerful no matter if in a Boeing, Airbus, or McD. If there are any differences, they are minor. Period. Lots of fellow pilots in all airframes on both sides of the issue of automation philosophy...which should tell you something...like maybe an Airbus isn't HAL, and a Boeing isn't 'slide rule and duct tape'. Hey, you like one philosophy or another, not a problem. I personally like the 'side-stick' of the newer Airbus, but prefer the 'soft-limits' of a Boeing. But show me official documentation of 'horrible response time' or 'brakes that auto release on full throttle' or 'go around to dry tanks'. FastCargo

Next update: SA-5 slightly more detailed with slight improvements to the skin. SA-5 launch rail included now...will no longer use the SA-2 rail. Square Pair radar model built and included. Work still needs to be done before release, including finishing skinning of the Square Pair radar. I plan to release the texture templates for all 3 parts (missile, rail, and radar) for modders to improve and/or to color for specific theatres. And because my skinning skills still suck. Also has improved data.inis for the missile (thanks Fubar!). FastCargo -
You may know a lot about engines...but you don't know enough about Airbuses (Airbi?). This feature most certainly does NOT exist on any Airbus I fly. Which would be a problem...if the A320 had PW4000 engines. That particular A320 has CFM56 engines, made by GE and SNECMA which also have a FADEC. Now, the A320 also comes with IAE V2500 engines, of which parts (the 'hot' section) are derived from the PW4000 series...but are not considered PW4000 engines, nor were on this aircraft. Now, there are anomalies with that particular accident, including possible FADEC issues. But nothing to do with P/W...unless they supplied the FADEC. This would be interesting...considering the A380 only just started service with Singapore Airlines...and as far as I know, doesn't provide service to Bermuda yet. Sure you're not thinking of the Air Transnat flight that 'dead sticked' into the Azores due to a fuel leak? I haven't seen any information about 'forced go-around to dry tanks' with an Airbus. I'd be happy if you could provide a source showing me wrong. Certainly your choice. I will tell you Boeings and McD aircraft certainly have their own issues. Chafing wires causing fires and explosions, twichy computer pitch controls causing 5000+ foot altitude excursions, tailstrikes and crashes in the landing mode, etc. Now, don't get me wrong, I tend to like Boeings more than Airbuses (Airbi) having been qualified in and flown both...and that's 'flown' as in 'being a pilot of' not riding along. But I don't consider Airbuses unsafe. ALL aircraft have their individual quirks which can put you in a crack if you let them. FastCargo

The SF series is THE single reason I started diving seriously back into flight sims in over a decade. Yea, I dabbled in LOMAC, F4, etc through the years...but all required too much time to get into and feel effective doing it. As a 25+ year simmer, and a 17+ year fast jet military and civilian pilot, the SF series to me is a close to perfect blend of realism and ease of use. Immersion to me doesn't require clickable cockpits, or knowing every button and function of the radar. I do this stuff for real...I don't need a sim to show me how it's done. Thanks TK, and thanks to all the modders through the years that have 'filled out' the SF world. FastCargo -

Jedi and allenjb42 are both correct. I scammed a ride with some Prowler guys 10 years ago during a Flag exercise so I got to see them doing the job firsthand. Most of their work was just trying to fuse the myriad sensor inputs of the decidedly old avionics. Definitely stuff that's improved in modern avionics. And yep, the pilot does not do any of the EWO work in the Prowler. The 4 person argument is not a valid one in this case. FastCargo -
