  1. Actually, there are other issues. I plan to do some tweaks to minimize the hardpoint issues. However, like USAFMTL said, there are other problems. Take a look at the nose gear door as an example. Unfortunately, the original 3ds max file is gone. So unless someone wants to start from scratch, this is what we stick with. Good enough for me! 2. Piloto, The same way you make any other aircraft flyable...drop in a cockpit of your choice. You've been around here long enough to know how...right? FastCargo
  3. You sure the F-16 has it's radar on or that's it's working properly? FastCargo
  4. File Name: UCAVs Version 1.1 File Submitter: FastCargo File Submitted: 21 Jul 2007 File Updated: 10 Sep 2007 File Category: Fictional Aircraft, Experimental and UAV's ************************************************************************ ************************ UCAVs 1.1 Update ***************************** ************************************************************************ Updates to the X-45C / X-47C to make them more 'combat ready'. Extra equipment includes: Internal ECM Expendables Laser Designator Weapons adjustment: Weapons fit into the bays properly...which limits what you can carry. Multiple weapons will sequence properly as well when dropped or fired. Aircraft adjustment: Aircraft now have manual weapon doors. Remaining issues: No cockpit. Drop in your own...think of it as a synthetic pit for a future UCAV pilot. Missiles don't drop, but fire as if off a rail. It has to do with the type of weapon...most small missiles fire off rails. So, unless you alter all the missiles a UCAV can carry...or the LODs are altered to make trapeze weapon rails, its one of those things... Use them for support on your missions, or drop in a cockpit and fly it yourself. Get ready for the future... Alterations by FastCargo Click here to download this file

My wife put together this video while I was tweaking the F-8FN for WoE. Funny, especially if you have kids: FastCargo
  6. Massive Penetrator in development

Ah Footfall...awesome book!! And by the end...we build an Orion! "God was knocking, and he wanted in bad!" FastCargo
  7. Massive Penetrator in development

This is not a new idea. Back somewhere in the 50s, THOR was just such a project. Rods From God link The funny thing is, there really isn't anything preventing building and deploying such devices because they aren't nuclear weapons. Just steel or tungsten rods. You put a bunch of small sats up with every Shuttle launch, deploying a rapid response web. You need a quick response, you deorbit a few sats, the 'flying crowbars' deploy and come in just shy of Mach 25. They wouldn't have to be big, unless you needed a bunker killer. They couldn't do it then because accuracy was so bad (that's why nukes were so large), but now, you can put very small, accurate guidance systems on RVs (reentry vehicles) and get a LOT closer. Like the A-10 gun...except on a whole other level of kinetic energy. FastCargo
  8. A-12 Avenger

Okay, more tweaking! All stuff references the model only...not the real A-12. The outside missile bays definitely can't hold a HARM...not even close. Bad clipping problems. Inner swing arm bays can hold a HARM each...just barely...we're talking millimeters of clearance to make sure the missile doesn't tag anything extending or retracting. The tips of the front fins just touch the top of the bay...but not noticable so I let it slide. Also, I put AAMs on the same rails, so possible to carry 4 AAMs total...again, why should you, the A-12 isn't a fighter. Allowed LGBs in the non-swing arm bays...but only one each. Small LGBs are just a little too long to do a proper 'stagger' inside the bays. The A-12 would have been a lot more lethal by 2005...can carry a total (physically) of 8 500lb JDAMs, plus 2 2000lb JDAMs. Or a mix and match of A/G weapons. FastCargo
  9. Massive Penetrator in development

Actually, most of our operations have switched to medium/high altitude. The thing we learned from the last decade is that although countries can buy lots of SAMs, they usually can't afford the more lethal stuff...and/or the SAMs get killed off early in the air war. But AAA and MANPADs are cheap and easy to hide, so you can have buttloads of them around and can't kill them easily. So your better option is doing everything high altitude. Also, assuming you are using kinetic energy, you actually want a high altitude drop. Low altitude drops are usually for high drag weapons, otherwise, you'd blow yourself up with the frag pattern of the bombs you drop. This assumes the weapon (MOP) doesn't have some sort of small rocket engine to help the penetration once it's centered over the target. Finally, the MOAB is an area weapon, not a penetrator. The MOAB is for large structures, anti personnel, maybe even mine detonation. You could kill a bunker, but only if the bunker was fairly shallow or thin skinned. FastCargo
  10. A-12 Avenger

You know, I couldn't get anything larger than an AIM-120 into the outer bays...anything larger kept 'clipping' the walls on either extention (the nose) or retraction (the tail). So if the outer bays were supposed to carry HARMs, the model's bays may be incorrect in size. I didn't go by what info what out there, just on what the model could put in. You can get larger bombs (I've got Mk84s) into the main bomb bay, if you make a separate hardpoint for one large weapon. Also, I fixed the multi weapon setups, so that they are 'staggered' to avoid the 'nose in tail' clipping problem. Hmmm...I like the idea of the bays being able to carry larger LGBs...also, it would be interesting for the inner swing arms to at least be able to carry AAMs... FastCargo

Oh, I should have mentioned...this is what was going on while my son was watching...F-8FN recon mission in a WOE 1993 scenario... I didn't have time to take screenshots, the missiles were flying like crazy! FastCargo
  12. A-12 Avenger

Been playing with the loadouts a bit, trying to eliminate errors, getting weapons that fit properly. Here's what I've come up with so far: From left to right: A2A missile up to the size of a AIM-120A - AIM-9L in this example - Auto doors Single large bomb, fuel tank OR 4 small guided weapons - F-14 Fuel Tank in this example (non jettisonable)- Manual door Guided weapon, missile or medium bomb - AGM-65 in this example - Manual door Guided weapon, missile or medium bomb - 2000lb JDAM in this example - Manual door Single large bomb, fuel tank OR 4 small guided weapons - 4 500lb JDAMs in this example - Manual door A2A missile up to the size of a AIM-120A - AIM-120A in this example - Auto doors A few things: With the swing rails, it's really hard to try to fit weapons...an A-12 (current config) just can't carry the pure truckload an A-6 could. Plus, I had to do a lot of juggling to avoid weapons clipping errors. Internal extra fuel tanks are not unheard of...the B-1B has them. In that vein, I made the tanks non-jettisonable. No current SEAD missile can fit into a A-12 internally. An AIM-120 is the largest A2A missile than can fit into the outer missile bays. I didn't try to put A/A missiles on the inner swing rails...the A-12 is not an air superiority aircraft. The inner swing rails are the only places to carry LGBs...however, I think the bays could probably carry them too (the F-117 didn't use a swing rail to drop LGBs...only to load and unload them, so an A-12 could probably have the same capability). Also, for a beta aircraft, this A-12 is not bad. You can see some errors, mainly with 'cracks' at the verticies in the weapons bays, but mostly, not a bad aircraft at all! FastCargo
  13. still looking for strike eagle sim

Damn Fubar, You might be right...they DID have an F-15E in USAF, didn't they? I didn't consider USAF because it wasn't a study sim. But the terrain graphics were significantly better. Though it doesn't meet the other qualifications (after 2000, made for WinXP) and it was a 'semi lite' sim, now I'm wondering. I'm going to feel really stupid for not thinking about that. FastCargo
  14. Cloudless Sky

Sorry bud, I can't help you. I tried using Edwards cloud mod (for SFP1) to FE and ended up with some odd results, so other than putting the clouds on the horizon (TGA files), I haven't done any cloud mods myself in FE. FastCargo
  15. Lights?

  17. Not quite. The Iranian Revolution (sometimes called the Islamic Revolution) was pretty much an internal affair and caught a lot of people off guard. The Shah wasn't given over, he pretty much had to go into exile. In fact, by our letting him in to the United States for treatment for cancer, gave the Revolutionaries an excuse to start the Iranian Hostage Crisis. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iranian_Revolution FastCargo

  22. still looking for strike eagle sim

Did you do this to find your loading screen? And did you note that a modern WinXP computer will show that loading screen for only a fraction of a second. Also, Janes F-15 is considered THE defining F-15E simulator. Considering how many simmers are here, some of them have been simming since the Apple II, and none of them have found a sim that meets what you're looking for, I think you're thinking of another sim. I can say with confidence that there was never an F-15E sim released after Janes F-15 or an updated engine release of the Janes F-15 simulator. Maybe someone did a hack, or a custom terrain, etc. But that's it. Good luck. FastCargo PS Platinum, glad you got it working...enjoy!
  23. still looking for strike eagle sim

Yes, specifically I've been using Glidewrapper 0.84c. Also, make sure you patch F-15 up to 1.17f (Novemeber 1998 patch). Works like a champ! And, if you get hi res to work...it can look like this (just took this a few minutes ago in the virtual cockpit view). FastCargo
  24. still looking for strike eagle sim

Whatta mean it doesn't run on WinXP! :) I've got it running just fine...at 1280 by 960 resolution no less (in Glidewrapper)! Just re-installed it a couple of days ago to help viperfalcon. Runs just fine...looks a little old...but smooth as can be. FastCargo
