  1. That's one of the few things TK got wrong with the F-15A Baz vs the F-15A. The F-15A Baz, to carry Python 3 missiles, required a special rail that mounted the missiles at an odd angle to clear the drop tank and pylons. The TW F-15A Baz does not use these rails...however, you will find the correct models in the F-15 Baz SuperPack here at CA. FC

  3. http://combatace.com/topic/28811-f-35a-lightning-ii/page__view__findpost__p__181464 An example of 'blended' control inputs. The sim will only allow multiple control inputs on a single mesh for elevator/aileron as far as we can tell. Any other combined inputs must be done with invisible 'links' with control surfaces. As an example from the F-35A OUT file: Note that the Right Trailing Edge Flap has 3 invisible meshes (just a single polygon) between the wing and the TEF itself that all have the same rotational location and alignment. One is for the speedbrake, one is for the flap, and one is for the TEF movement itself. So, long answer to a short question...the LOD must have the links available. As far as speed cutouts, look here: I use this entry on the outer flaperons on the B-70. As the wingtips fold down, the flaps (and aileron) are 'locked' and won't move. FC
  4. Read this: http://www.column5.us/natof4.shtml It is VERY specific as to what to install, and the order to install it in. You should be able to get a full up working install that way. FC
  5. B-1 retirement?

Big deal, so can a Bone. A Bone in fact can carry more internally than a BUFF. The REAL reason is actually simpler...BUFFs can still carry nuclear capable cruise missiles internally and externally. That ability was STARTed out of the Bone. FC
  6. Circumstances dude! Until you can give us more information, that isn't very much to go on! Specific map? Mission? Mods? FC
  7. Why do you think fighters typically have drop tanks? Most fighters, assuming no drop tanks, would go through their entire fuel supply in minutes in full afterburner. Another example, when going full grunt at sea level in a Bone, the fuel flow would easily exceed 200k per hour. For those of you math impaired, that means each engine (derivatives of the same engines in F-15s and F-16s) is consuming at least 50k+ of fuel per hour. Look up the internal fuel load for these fighters, and solve for time. You get the idea. Swirling long duration dogfights are not a good idea of you want to make it home. FC
  8. The Official "Not the IPhone" Thread

The thread for those who don't have or want an IPhone. If you're an Apple fan, keep your comments to yourself...if you don't want us in your thread, seems fair you can't be in ours. Now, for those in this thread, this is for talking about the company, or their devices and why we don't use them...as well as alternative devices and why we do like them. This thread is NOT for bashing those who use Apple devices or who are Apple fans...your post won't be here long if you even try to play that game. So, I'll start. This article is interesting... http://www.cracked.com/article_18377_5-reasons-you-should-be-scared-apple.html Check out the last part of the article: Think about that. Can't use your IPhone until you've watched an ad...nice, right? FC
  9. B-1 retirement?

Hey, I found out Rosetta Stone offers free online access to all their courses for military members...just go to the library to sign up! (Not joking, that's really true...) Now you just have to decide if you want to learn Mandarin or Cantonese... Of course, my wife is ethnic Chinese, so I've got a head start already. FC
  10. B-1 retirement?

Hate to say it, but that makes perfect sense (re: vertical cuts). Logistical tails are huge nowadays, especially for high technology items. FC
  11. B-1 retirement?

The B-1 has one thing over the B-2 and B-52. Speed. All 3 aircraft can carry a large bombload and can stay on station a long time. The BUFF has the advantage of carrying outsized weapons, including things like Have Nap, Harpoon, CALCM, etc. The B-2 has the advantage of stealth. However, neither is particularly useful or necessary in the 'stan at the moment. Speed however, is. Being able to stay on station a long time, and engage multiple targets in different locations in a short amount of time is a mission almost tailor made for the Bone's strengths. However, political considerations have made the idea of dropping a large 1000 or 2000 lb JDAM very dicey in the realm of sub-conventional warfare. What you see are less and less of that happening, which is why this has been brought up. Considering a F-15E, F-16, F-18 can carry at least 8 SDBs per aircraft, weapons that can kill individual buildings without blowing up city blocks, it doesn't surprise me that this gets floated out there. 15. The Official "Not the IPhone" Thread

I've been a Palm user since 2001. My wife and I use them, and when it made sense, we converged our phone and PDAs into the Treo/Centro. For a while, a 'smartphone' was synonymous with a Treo...business and personal. For me as an airline and military pilot, it could do everything and allowed me to carry one less item on my person. Using Yahoo calendar, it allowed us to see each other's schedules, sync with Quicken at home so I wasn't bogged down with receipt entries when I came home from a trip, texting on a real keyboard, etc. Palm darn near dominated the market for both enterprise and personal use. Then Apple came along and changed the game. Nothing wrong with that of course, that's what makes life interesting. Palm could have recovered, but some of their decisions when they decided to intro a next gen phone were bad...selecting Sprint as the launch carrier, dodgy hardware issues, crappy marketing. The Palm Pre could do things over a year ago that the IPhone still can only just now do, including true multitasking (not just quick app, task completion, etc), and the big one, Synergy, which can take multiple contacts from several sources (including Google, Yahoo, Hotmail, Facebook, etc) and fuse them into one list, no duplicates or redundant entries. Does the same with emails, calendars, etc. It will do all the work for you in terms of fusing everything together. Plus the phone can recharge using a magnetic induction puck (Touchstone)...all built in to the phone, not adding some kludge device to do it...no plugin, nothing like that. Just set it down and it starts charging. Even little things like being able to shut the phone completely down, have a removable battery, and a hardware switch to silence the phone. All of this on an open, non-slaved platform. If you come out with an app that can do the job better than the app that comes from Palm, Palm isn't going to shut it down, unlike Apple. The WebOS is still considered a superior OS, the problem is that it's saddled with only okay hardware. You pair up WebOS with something like the HTC Incredible, and things would get interesting. FC
  16. As an example: [Options] OptionsFile=C:\TWSimsGen2\TestMod\Options.ini This will now look for the Options.ini in the C:\TWSimsGen2\TestMod directory. It will also look for your mod (in my case TestMod) in that directory. FC
  17. The Official "Not the IPhone" Thread

My biggest beef with most Apple products is the very thing that makes IPhone a favorite...it does work and work well. As long as you stay within the restrictions of the Apple EULA. Like usafmtl mentioned, you have to 'jailbreak' your IPhone to be able to have the freedoms that most other cell phone owners enjoy right out of the box. But this is what you can risk: From here: http://www.appleiphonereview.com/iphone-tutorials/iphone-jailbreak/ A cage that is gold lined is still a cage. FC
  18. Hahahahaha!!! Gotta love the Brits...closest thing I've ever done to that (that I'll admit), was putting a 'Garfield' window cat in the canopy of my T-38 while cross country... FC
  19. Wrench, actually, for certain items, secondary input will work...I forgot about that particular parameter. I think it only works for primary flight controls though (elevators, ailerons) I don't think it works for things like speedbrakes or rudders. I could be wrong though. FC

  22. If you have surfaces that perform multiple functions (the F-35 as an example), each surface requires multiple links in the MAX file to allow 'blended' movements. If these links do not exist, that surface will never move correctly for anymore than one control movement. FC
