  1. Unusual Damage

I'll bet Smilin' Bob. Livin' large with a big boost of confidence...... could fix it.
  2. Another "other" here. I have the original FE heavily modded without the Apr.08 patch. I have the EP1 version again heavily modded without the Apr.08 patch. And I have a clean unmodded install of FE + EP1 + Apr.08 patch. The patch overwrites all the Terrain Targets and Types .inis so I have to see what TK's done on the ground before I move my mods to the patched version of EP1.
  3. Windows Vista

Well, since I don't have any direct experience with Vista, I would only be "reading" it to you from the instructions already available. First you have to download and install the latest version of DirectX 9.0c from Microsoft on your computer. Then you extract the terrain data.inis and change the appropriate lines regarding the pixel shaders and put those folders in each terrain folder specific to that data.ini, one for Verdun and one for Cambrai. Changing the FlightEngine.ini requires replacing the section from the link with the corresponding section in the .ini. Sorry.
  4. Windows Vista

Don't give up yet. I know there are many people who run WOI and First Eagles under Vista and it works for them. Try going through the procedure again, be sure you save the file, and put it in the appropriate folders. The specific terrain folder for the "terrain"_data.ini and Flight folder for the Flightengine.ini.
  5. Trouble with reversed throttle

    Hello Steven190. Welcome to CombatACE. Go to your Default.ini.....Filepath = Thirdwire\Wwi\Controls\Default.ini.....and find: [RangedControl004] AxisControl=THROTTLE_CONTROL MaxValue=1000.000000 MinValue=0.000000 DeadZone=0.000000 Saturation=100.000000 ReverseJoystick=TRUE MouseScale=1.000000 UseMouseRate=FALSE ReverseMouse=FALSE LimitValue=TRUE SelfCenterRate=0.000000 KeyControlRate=1.000000 AllowKeyControl=TRUE IncreaseControl=THROTTLE_UP DecreaseControl=THROTTLE_DOWN CenterControl= Change ReverseJoystick= to FALSE (or the opposite of what it is in your config.). That should do it.
  6. Windows Vista

No problem at all, Bb. You can keep the subject bumped to the top if you like by just posting a "BTT" or something. Someone with more Vista experience will surely come along and help out.
  7. Unusual Damage

Introduced with EP1....perhaps more refined with the patch? Nice effect though.
  8. Windows Vista

    Topics merged....new thread isn't necessary.
  9. Windows Vista

Hmmm....never heard of that problem with the extractor. Try it again. You are looking for WWIVERDUN_DATA.INI.
  10. Ah, ok, thanks Kevin. I should have figured you guys were on top of that.
  11. Windows Vista

Don't have Vista but changing the pixel shaders to FALSE is supposed to fix the CTD when hitting ESC.
  12. Very nice. On a side note, I changed the data.ini and loadouts for the C-47 as the Arabs used them for bombing. It ejects bombs out the cargo door. Did they really work that way or were they converted to have a bomb bay in the belly?
  13. WW1 Aircraft Encyclopedia

    Here you go: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=26451
  14. Take your time, Craig. IMHO, its better include as many "fixes" as you can with fewer updates.
  15. WW1 Aircraft Encyclopedia

Welcome to CombatACE, Blackbaron264. Make yourself at home and thanks for the link.
  16. First Eagles Patch is Out

Haven't tried it yet but if you will note in the readme the patch overwrites all the stock A/C data.inis so it will overwrite Peter01s FMs for the stock A/C. How would it affect Peter's FMs? I would suggest doing a side by side comparison between the old stock EP 1 A/C data.ini and the new patch A/C data.ini to see if there are changes. That may indicate if Peter's might need further tweaking. You might also want to compare the AI data and such between the old and new AircraftObject.ini. If the data is the same then Peter's FM data should work. If there are changes then.... Like USAFMTL suggests, I wouldn't do anything until I backed up all the files that the patch overwrites.
  17. Hmmmm....not sure about shrapnel effects. Those are possibly controlled in the different explosion effects in the ParticleSystems.ini. In the case of Wasserfall I just upped the warhead weight until I got the damage effects I wanted. edit...Ha, Ed beat me to it. So since most of the AIM-9s are set to 1m you may have to up the charge a little to compensate?
  18. Arming time is time after launch/release to arm the weapon. Fusing distance is the proximity value. Here's a pic of the Wasserfall with a Fusing distance of 50.0 meters.
  19. Thanks! I have to say the community deserves its share of the credit for making CombatACE what it is. It would be much more difficult without everyone pitching in. There aren't many forums in any genre as good as this one.
  20. A lot to ask

Good points. I had really forgotten about how difficult it was sometimes to even get a flightsim to run on your machine at all.
  21. how many of you were even born...

Yep, and a little later the Desert Jeep with the .50cal on the back a la the Rat Patrol TV series. A friend of mine had all the other nationalities. British, German, Japanese, Russian, even a French "commando" figure.
  22. A lot to ask

hurricane. Tk's sims all work right out of the box. He made it easy to mod but I don't think its reasonable to expect TK to adapt his sims to mods. It works the other way around. In lieu of someone making an all-inclusive mega mod pack (which even then it will likely only work with the current iteration of the sim and it will need updating to reflect updates in the sim), if you're going to use 3rd party mods, you're going to have to learn how to perform the basic tasks ie. how to edit .ini files (mostly just a cut or copy and paste) and how to use the basic tools, ie. the weapon editor, to install them in the first place and to keep up with the ever evolving nature of the sim and the necessary adjustments to your existing mods. Its not that difficult but it can get a bit tedious, for sure. There are so many different mods and so many people have different installs, IMHO there is not an easy "just drop this file in your game and go" way to do it and not lose your own personal version if the sim. This goes for the weapon.ini, object.ini, target.ini, types.ini, and so forth. This is exactly the situation you ran into with the weapon.data and the changes made for the EP. Someone just gave you what worked at the time, the sim changed, and you're back stuck where you were before. We have discussed the pros and cons of making a Mega Pack type package before but with things in flux, as the sim is still being improved by Thirdwire, its not likely to happen in the near future. So the way I see for now you have a few options. 1. Sticking with the stock Thirdwire game. 2. Using 3rd party mods as you can and accepting the compatibility issues. 3. Learning to updated your 3rd party mods to fix those compatibility issues. 4. Finding someone to give you the modded files you need to get what you want. The problem with that is there is no guarantee that won't mess up something else in your install that works now. IMHO (if you want to use 3rd party mods), the only really viable option for your continued enjoyment of the sim is #3. BTW...I'm pushing 53 and they didn't have computers when I was a young'un either.
  23. http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=27094 There's a link here to the new forum address. You should be able to find the downloads from there.

Contact information is also provided in the A-Team's forum in the Modding Community Forums here. Look in the General Discussion thread.
  25. Bite sized chunks

Looks to me like this works nicely. Combat tactics become more important. You have to think twice about chasing someone down in the weeds as you will quickly take yourself out of the furball. When the Enemy AI stays at altitude its very difficult if not impossible to climb back and catch up.
