Morane-Saulnier N “Bullet” (biggish images)
Tailspin replied to p10ppy's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
In lieu of finding a SOUNDLIST.INI in another mod, the SOUNDLIST.INI can be found in the FlightData.CAT file in the Flight folder of the game. You have to use the SFP1E file extractor to get it from the .CAT file. -

WOW! What an excellent package! Model, screens, sounds. The cockpit is amazing...love the fuel in glass animation. About those new sounds...to get them to work you also have to add the SoundFile***= entries to the [soundList] section in the Soundlist.ini in numerical sequence like so: [soundList] SoundFile001=Cannon SoundFile002=TankGun SoundFile003=Missile SoundFile004=JetEngine SoundFile005=JetBurner SoundFile006=TankEngine SoundFile007=TankTrack SoundFile008=DirtHit SoundFile009=SmallExplosion SoundFile010=ObjectHit SoundFile011=Rocket SoundFile012=IRgrowl SoundFile013=IRgrowlLock SoundFile014=Vulcan SoundFile015=50cal SoundFile016=PropLoop SoundFile017=TruckLoop SoundFile018=Napalm SoundFile019=Gear SoundFile020=Airbrakes SoundFile021=Flaps SoundFile022=WindLoop SoundFile023=Breathing SoundFile024=AAA SoundFile025=BigExplosion SoundFile026=TireTouch SoundFile027=StallSound SoundFile028=AmbientSound SoundFile029=30cal SoundFile030=Vickers SoundFile031=Spandau SoundFile032=Parabellum SoundFile033=Lewis SoundFile034=gun_jam SoundFile035=gun_reload SoundFile036=gun_out SoundFile037=gun_unjam SoundFile038=gun_unjam_fail SoundFile039=RotaryEngine SoundFile040=Hotchkiss SoundFile041=lerhone I don't think that was mentioned in your installation instructions. Anyway, congratulations P10ppy! What an outstanding addition to FE! -

Sorry for the delay, folks. Its available now. -
Hello Uzzar. Welcome to CombatACE. First get patched up to the latest. You will find Patch 2 here in the downloads section or at Thirdwire. It is all inclusive so you don't need the previous patch. Then you can explore the downloads section here (Downloads > Thirdwire Series > SF/WOV/WOE/WWI) for planes, FMs, and such. You can also download a bunch of planes at the A Team's site...see their forum here for registration details. Single missions can be flown with any plane you choose. The sim does a date check so you should not get mismatches like a MS L vs. a Fokker DVIIF. The stock campaign only covers 1918 and uses the stock planeset. However Firecage has modified a campaign to cover most all the planes available for FE over the entire period of the war. There are a few different terrains available from Max188's High res. remake of the stock terrain to Gepard's Vogesen, to Edward's Flanders terrain. All are excellent. As for detail levels if I were you I'd start out with everything maxed and see how the game runs.

Not even walking, man-eating plants??? -
You should be seeing all the specific stock pre-scripted missions like FokkerD7F vs. Se5a (1v1), FokkerD7F vs. Se5a (2v2), FokkerD7F vs. SPAD13 (1v1), etc., etc. in the Mission Filename pulldown. Are any of those showing up?
-
Hmmm....I just downloaded the Avro version and it worked. I'm going to ask a dumb question so please don't be insulted. Are you sure you are looking under the Load Mission tab in the game?
-
Hi Haac. First welcome to CombatACE. I suggest you create a temporary folder and keep it to unzip all your downloads in. For me its easier to have all the zip's contents in front of me where I can read the readme for installation instructions and have an idea of what files are referenced in the instructions. Then you can just copy and paste or drag and drop the necessary files into the appropriate folders in the main FE folder. The only folder you need in your Missions folder is the mission file itself. All aircraft go in the Objects/Aircraft folder. A common mistake is having a folder nested inside another folder causing the game to be unable to read the contents of the folder. Anyway it sounds to me like you are having trouble keeping things sorted and in the proper places. Using a temp. folder helps a lot.

You have to unzip the Flanders.zip file thats in the original .zip. Either unzip to a temp. folder and drag and drop the Flanders folder into your Terrain folder or "point" Winzip at the Terrain folder and unzip/extract to it.

New Alternative FMs for Borts Late 1916 Models
Tailspin replied to peter01's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Nice work Peter. Just did a couple of missions against the Alb DI in the Pup. The DI's had about a 2-1 numerical advantage (8-4). First encounter I lasted all of 30 seconds the rest of the 4 plane flight faired not much better. Refly, really watching my six this time , I managed one kill and two force downs before I had to land after I got my left horizontal stab shot off and ran out of ammo. Friendly AI got a kill and the enemy downed two Pups. Archie accounted for a couple more Albs. Great fun! -

Plane Fest 5.0 WIP and need info help
Tailspin replied to Firecage's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
http://www.theaerodrome.com/aircraft/ has some dates of service for a lot of planes. Its kind of hit or miss and sometimes general in nature...like summer 1916...but they have a lot of planes in one place of reference. You can usually Google specific aircraft and find good info too. -
Hi Suffke. I'm very sorry, it seems post was overlooked in all the "excitement" of the past few days. To improve the rear view you can adjust the angles in the cockpit.ini file. Each A/C should have one. You may have to extract it from the ObjectData.cat file for some of the "stock" planes. Open the individual aircraft COCKPIT.INI and scroll down to [CockpitSeat001] and find the MaxYaw= and MinYaw= entries. Increase these values to increase the reward veiw angle. Be advised that you may encounter some graphic anomolies with some planes.

Models and accuracy and feedback - Oh my!
Tailspin replied to Laton's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
I agree, very well said. IMHO the First Eagles community isn't nearly as divided as a couple of folks would have us believe. -
The Aircraft folder is located in the Objects folder in the main First Eagles folder. (Thirdwire/Wwi/Objects) Some add on A/C come with sound folders. Inside will be .wav file. Just drop it in the Sounds folder. Some might have a Weapons folder. There is no Weapons folder in the game so you will have to create one and rename it Weapons. Like M-M says there should be a Readme in the new A/C zip or rar with instructions. Any problems just ask here and we'll get it sorted out for you.

This may or may not help. Extract the MISSIONCONTROL.INI from the MISSIONDATA.CAT. Scroll down to the [Waypoint] section and change InitialClimbAlt= from 305 to 150. Just a theory of mine that some AI planes can't handle the attempt to climb to the initial waypoint (#2 I think) altitude of 305 meters within the time and distance required by the mission parameters. I've had this changed for awhile and it doesn't seem to me there are nearly as many A/C doing the loop and die during takeoffs. It won't help at other times in the flight, of course, but it sure seems to make takeoffs a lot smoother for the AI. TK has also said something about fixing AI stall routines which may help too. Ok, I'm re-opening this topic with a offer to you, Bort. Why don't we just quit playing these silly games and call a truce? Lets turn your visit here into a something positive. Lets take the opportunity to leave the past behind and start over again. I was serious when I said you are welcome to post here any time you like. I won't bother you with boring discussions on A/C performance and quirky FMs. I promise. I'm dead serious. Lets leave it behind us like two grown men.

Of course the discussion was about the Albatros FM. Everything I've said were my sincere thoughts on the subject. I think its clear where the tomfoolery is coming from. Have a nice day.
