Watch the AI. They can turn just about any plane faster than you can. The only plane I've found that can compete in the turn with the AI is the Camel. I find SPADS vs. DVII's or DVIIf's is a pretty good fight if you use the superior speed of the SPAD. However in a turn fight the DVII should win most of the time. But back to what Penske said, I do think most of the planes tend to skid too much post patch.

I just flew some with the Fokker and its really no different than the rest IMO. That said, I'm not so sure I like the new FMs as much as the old ones. I think all the old FMs needed was a little more rudder authority without changing anything else and they were fine. The AI dogfighting is better than before though...

Problem in multiplayer - please HELP!
Tailspin replied to Wizard's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Do you have the patch installed. That was supposed to be fixed with the patch. -
No. 16 is the XB-40.

Upon further observation the fighters do break the echelon formation and spread out when nearer the enemy.

Just had a big hoo-rah with the latest rendition and a bunch of Fokker DVIIfs. That was FUN! This thing is really coming along very nicely. EmlD, I don't know what did it but the frame rate problem seems to have been cured...is for me anyway. I didn't get a chance to check out the damage model yet but I will. Tex, I tried to spot the prop problem you described but I couldn't see it. Looked fine from all angles to me. Again, great job on tweaking the FM. Good job EVERYONE!

Actually the plane had very good diving characteristics. It was pulling out of the dive that caused the wing fabric to shed. http://www.airminded.net/n28/n28.html See the service issues section.

Good job, Fates. If the Bears don't play better ball than they did today N.O. is going to the Super Bowl. Seattle shoulda won that one.

New Camel released...available @ CA
Tailspin replied to Tailspin's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Yes there is. My bad. I had unpacked the file in a temp folder and the Install text file got mixed up with some others from other "unpackings". I guess I need to clean my download folders up. -
Yes it is a very nice 'pit. There is one issue, though, when the original cockpit was made there were some problems with the 3D mesh and the pit. TK fixed the 3D mesh problem with the patch and now the cockpit must be updated to fit the new mesh. Aladar should be working on it.

Problem Post Patch With Active Battlefield Mod
Tailspin replied to Heck's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Hi Heck. Thats something new too. Its a warning "meter" for the Moderators to use when warning posters for site rule violations and such. There is a link with it that goes to a section where we must provide a written explanation of warnings made etc. Its convenient feature for us to have. If a poster has a continuing "problem" behaving badly pertinent information is easily available. Don't worry everybody's got one and only you can see your own "warn meter". Its not something that will get used much as the vast majority of posters here are great people. -

Changing balloon heights in '_ini' (?)
Tailspin replied to Recon3's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Well, there is a MaxAlt= entry in the *balloon*_data.ini but that would seem to affect all the balloons of that particular type and only the max alt. Since they are Ground Objects, I'd guess that a terrain editor may be required. I've left a request for help in the SF Forum. Maybe someone there can shed some light. -
Balloon height (FE) question....
Tailspin posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
Hey folks...Can one of you Terrain/Ground Object gurus give this guy a hand? http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=16730 Thanks. -

Tailspin replied to Recon3's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Wish I could help Recon3. Sombody will be along soon. If not, I'll see if I can scare up some help. -
Not quite. EmlD is still fine tuning and adding the damage modeling. You can get a Beta version here in this thread if you like. Never mind, Firecage beat me to it.

How many posts do I have to have before I can download a file?
Tailspin replied to sledgehammer2's topic in The Pub
Who knows? It might get a few people involved who otherwise wouldn't have. If it doesn't, no harm done that I can see. -
Did you actually read the announcement?
-
Capun and the Skunkworks still do...although the flight model is being revised for the new patch. One more and you can go back to downloading...not so bad, was it?
-
Yeah, its gonna make the job a little more involved. If someone is going to just spam five posts thats fine, but they are going to have to be a little bit creative. Things like posting the same post in different forums isn't going to work, spreading out one post paragraph over several posts isn't either. If you can't find anything sim related to talk about, I'd suggest heading over to the PUB and have a chat about something else. Its NFL playoff time in the US...there's a topic. There are people from all over the world posting here. It'd be a shame if someone found something in common with someone else from the other side of the planet, wouldn't it?
-
Oh, that? Thats a moderator tool for folks who've been misbehaving. You get a warning, it goes on the "warning level meter" with a written explanation so other mods can keep track of things like that. Don't worry, only you can see your own meter.
