Unless EmlD changed something with the guns they should be the same Vickers MGs used by the stock aircraft in the game. I agree about the manouverability. See the comments here. More technical data (wing loading) here and here.

Aiming? If you gotta use the sight, you're too far away.
  3. Nieuport 28

Here's the screenshot of the guns. Looks like its centered pretty good to me.

Hi EmlD...Just a quick comment, its WILDCARD SATURDAY for the NFL. Took a quick spin and she's looking pretty good. The pilot position can be fixed by making the pilot position in the data.ini match the one in the cockpit.ini (cockpit.ini is the correct postition).

I can't see where anyone "tore into" Bort's creation. Perhaps I could have worded the climb rate comment a little better but Bort is the one that played the "realism card" and I was pointing out the obvious case where real world statistics do affect sim "realism" as a counterpoint to his comments. Considering the very mild nature of any of the comments made in relation to Bort's Eindecker I don't see where anyone should feel too guilty about it. FYI...I'm very much aware of the fine line between participating in a forum and moderating one. I called on other staff members to advise me on this one just to be sure I wasn't out of line. I'm satisfied that neither I nor anyone else was. I thought at the time that Bort's reactions were way overboard and still do. In the end, like I've said before, just because I'm a moderator I'm not going stop participating in board discussions and I may, God forbid, disagree with someone now and then. Thats something else ya'll are gonna have to deal with too.

Hmmm....Yep. Definately isn't optimized for the HARD FM. Flys great on NORMAL though.

Thanks Charles....I was looking over Borts original. I know he didn't mean it to be anything but something to get the model in the air but there were some odd things in it like the nose being the parent component for the wings etc. I see you've also got the wing warp working. Sombody needs to get ahold of Bort so he can get his FM for his excellent E.III and complete the package.
  8. We got a patch!!!

I've seen that in Strike Fighters but I can't remember what causes it....have to do some checking.
  9. Bit of work on an Eindecker

I'm guessing the formula wants gross takeoff weight because that is the actual "flying" weight with fuel, ammo, etc added to the empty weight. I believe the sim actually adds these values in. Some aircraft have significant differences between empty and gross weight.

Ahh...re-reading your other post, carefully this time, I see that. DOH!! :slow(en): ...again.

EmlD...You could calculate the "constant" values by using the Inertia values and woring back and solving for Rx, ect. Using the SPAD data: (W/g)*(Rx*b/2)^2=Inertia X (1255.1/32.2)*(Rx*27/2)^2=1542 Do the same for Y and Z. Those values should work for all the bi-planes then...right?...maybe? Sorry I ain't much good at arithmetic....
  12. Bit of work on an Eindecker

EmlD...Check your "IdleProp=" RPM in the Engine section of your data.ini. If its 500 try lowering it to 150 or something similar. Sounds like torque effects to me.
  13. I noticed both Fokker DVIIs doing a lot of "porpoising" in auto pilot or while using wing leveler. If you'll look in the DATA.INIs of the planes you will see a value for PitchDamper=0.3. Changing that to 0.6 solves the problem. OOOOPS....Sorry folks. I lost a decimal point. That should have been 0.3 and 0.6 as in TENTHS and not whole numbers. :slow(en):
  14. Oooops...all the values should be 0.x as in TENTHS. Sorry for the mistake. Change the Fokkers to 0.6. I arrived at that figure by trial and error testing. For the other planes add one tenth at a time until you get the desired results. Not sure but, big changes may affect flight control so take it slow and increase only enough to smooth it out. As always YMMV.
  15. Armed Assault Demo Server

LOL...since I'm the new guy and there was an Armed Assault Forum when I looked, I moved it.
  16. GauntletMk1

Really nice Hinch. You know a between the wars bi-plane scenario would be pretty cool. Thanks!
  17. Well, the old aircraft data.inis weren't much use anymore anyway.
  18. Bit of work on an Eindecker

Tex, I got it to take off by raising the CLa= on just the bottom left and right wing sections of the stock data.ini to 1.662. I think you'll need some inertia values for the 3 axis to help with the control response. I used the formula in the Editing Notes. Mind you I'm just playing around pluggin in values from other aircraft wings of similar size...gonna need to do some more research. BTW...compared to the wings of some other planes those drag values CD0 and CDL look high. Most figures you see for bi-plane wing sections are in the 0.00XX range. Wish I knew more about how to do the actual math...if thats what's required. I hate to see Bort go off like that. He's a little touchy but quitting the forum sure wasn't necessary.
  19. Bit of work on an Eindecker

One problem is the Lift values (CLa for instance) for the wings are too low for the actual aircraft data. Looks like the EmptyInertia values need recalculating too. I've never actually done a complete flight model before, this one would be a fun one to practice on.
  20. Hi PC...Must be the new FMs which I think are an improvement. I noticed all the planes have the PitchDamper= numbers added. I didn't notice that before.
  21. Yeah, that Fokker was jumping up and down like crazy.
  22. Bit of work on an Eindecker

    BTW....Charles does the FMs for the ATeam...and you're overreacting....again.

"if somebody wants to nit pick the one I have made they can go swing on a star as far as i'm concerned... and as you know i'll argue for the sake of argueing till the cows come home..." Nobody is nitpicking anything. This discussion is friendly and nobody is out of line. Charles happens to have a lot of experience in FMs and is only offering friendly advice. You blow it off like stats don't matter. Well they certainly do to some extent as shown by the inordinate rate of climb as a result of the decidedly non-statistical weight you have chosen for your aircraft. People are prone to discuss your, or anyone else's, projects on many different levels in many different ways. Its a forum. You need to learn to deal with it.
