  1. Top marks for Historical correctness

Yep. Its really odd to me how people "settle" on which games they like. FE has a LOT to offer but it doesn't seem to get much "respect". I don't get it? I mean look at ROF. You're kidding me, right?
  2. Downloads Section

Hey Dave, you can send the bill to quack.
  3. Missing Balloons!

In the Options/Graphics menu, check and see what you have Ground Objects set to. Lower settings limit the number of ground objects the game displays.
  4. Happy Father's Day everyone! Mmmmm....grilled rib eye steaks.

I see there are a few firearms afficionados around. This is a "restoration" project I am in the process of completing. First of bit of history behind this weapon. Its a Nepalese copy of a British 1841 Brunswick Rifle. Several years ago these, along with several other types of weapons (real Britsh Martini Henrys, copies of Sniders, Enfields, Brown Bess', etc.) were discovered in Nepal. Part of the forgotton Royal Nepalses Armory cache that had been stored in the lower realms of an old Royal castle. Atlanta Cutlery and International Military Antiques got involved and imported container loads these to the US. There were covered in literally 100 to 160 years of dirt and grime. Both AC and IMA cleaned most of these up and sell them. Others, like this one, they offer uncleaned at a discount for those who like to "tinker". Like they say "A picture is worth a thousand words". Before: After: The idea is not to refinish but restore it as close as possible to the condition it was in when it went into storage. I'm surprised and very pleased with the way it turned out.

Open your underwear drawer once in awhile to let in some fresh air.

Agreed. Although safety is a concern, I'm satisfied it will stand up to shooting. The breech end is substantial and the threads on the nipple are clean and in good shape. I've run a few oiled patches down the bore and although I'm getting some "color" it feels smooth. If there was significant pitting I could tell. The first shot will be a "blank"...just powder and a paper wad to make sure the cap will ignite the charge. Then a loosely patched ball will be next. But first I have to fit the buttplate. It looks to be a "spare". It clearly was never fitted to this particular gun anyway.

Its somewhere around .65 cal. Its actually a smoothbore musket instead of a rifle. As an antique (1898 or older) its is virtually unregulated here in the US. I can order from the distributor and have it delivered directly to my residence without having to go through a licensed dealer.
  9. They should be selling AR-15 and AK clones.
  10. I see some new faces around here lately. I'd like to extend an official CombatACE welcome to the First Eagles forum to Gustav, Iagoba, and mihcman. Sorry if I've missed anyone else. If so feel free to introduce yourself. Any questions...ask Bucky.
  11. Welcome new posters....

Yeah, you're right. I forgot about Korea...well there ya go.
  12. Planes' markings

Here is some reference to the various styles for German A/C in WWI. http://www.theaerodrome.com/forum/aircraft...gs.html?garpg=4
  13. Daves

    What?
  14. Welcome new posters....

I think reason #1 is flight sims in general don't translate well into console games and that is the target market these days. Reason #2, WWI is probably the least popular genre for flightsims.
  15. Welcome new posters....

Just keep yer hands off Cheryl Tiegs.
  16. Float planes

    :whistling:
  17. Float planes

Does the A-Team own the rights to them?
  18. Float planes

I think you'll have to use the Flanders terrain. With the stock Cambrai terrain the Channel is beyond the edge of the map. There are some floatplanes available for WWII so I assume you can land on the water? I would also think the ship wake or bow wave effects could be adapted for the planes. Very cool Laton.
  19. Hmmm....I've been trying to check something out and I can't seem to get a mid-air explosion to happen. I must have flown 8 or 10 missions last night with enemy air activity set to heavy. Furballs with 16 to 24 planes and not one mid air explosion...maybe its not such a problem after. Are there aircraft more prone to blowing up than others?
  20. I had played with this some not too long ago and ran into the same thing. Don't know if there is a way to eliminate A/C explosions in the air, what exactly causes them to explode, or if doing so would interfere with them exploding when the hit the ground?? Got distracted with something else and never followed up.
  21. Fantastic new terrains?

Actually if you'll look at actual period aerial photos the farmlands are very "geometrical". The main difference is IRL the edges of some fields followed the lines of smaller roads, creeks, streams etc. Also, many farms of the day tended to be much more rectangular, less square. As there are limited numbers of tiles available repetition is unavoidable. I have always failed to see much difference in repetitive geometrical shapes (which IMO are more accurate) and repetitive "rounded" shapes which, IMHO, tend to look more like a jumbled mess than farmland. IMHO TK's rendition is much closer to the "real thing", in a general sense, than many retiles.
  22. Fallen Eagle

Good ideas, Wildfowler. There are many ways to get yourself immersed in the sim.
  23. Hmmm....thats odd. Never noticed that before. Looking through both ObjectData.cat files there are no SPAD 7 serial number .tga(s).
  24. I use it and have been for years..on my second one now. I don't use the software though. Just plug in in and let Windows set it up. For Thirdwire games I use the in-game control options screen to assign functions. Works for me.
