A video of FM problems w Alb C.III and Lloyd
ojcar replied to quack74's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
I suggest to change only the RollingCoefficient (try with 0.02 or 0.01) from the right and left main gear. Don't touch the tail gear one. After all, you'll need some drag to landing and in the take off, the plane rises the tail (it seems this angle is managed by TakeOffRotationAngle, maybe you can tune this as well). -

So, the RollingCoefficient change could be useful. It shortens a little the take off lenght... -

What Stephen says is a very good idea. Try to delete the AI data, or maybe you can substitute the AI data for one by a plane that works. I can't fix it, beacuse in my PC both planes takes off flawlessly. Maybe there is a conflict with a certain airfield, I don't know. If I can't reproduce the fail, I can't do trial and error test with the planes..... Another idea! You can try to make easier the take off. In the data.ini, search for the [LeftMainGear], [RightMainGear] and [TailGear] entries. Look for the RollingCoefficient and play a little with the numbers. This entries increase or decrease some drag to the gears. If you decrease this drag, the planes would accelerate better for take off, making it easier. Maybe the AI is struggling a little to taking off these heavy and underpowered planes. More important and once again: there are some more people having this bug? Until now, I know about Quack only, as Stephen and me have the planes working well. People, give me some more input. I really hate releasing bugged planes!!! ****By the way, my dog is alive but hospitalized after an spleenecthomy... -

I'll try to do my best. I really love WWI planes and this community, but its very difficult, because I can't reproduce the fail until now..... Give me some time, please, because my dog is in a medical emergency and I can't work on it today. Meanwhile, in the AI data of the planes there is a line that says TakeOffRotationAngle=15.0. I have no idea what's the meaning (copied from the AI of Peter01's Aviatik CII). You can change the number or even delete the line (some planes doesn't have this line). Check also the engine data. Search for the line ThrustPosition=0.0,1.7,0.0. Change it to ThrustPosition=0.0,0.0,0.0. This eliminate the plane torque. Maybe it can be useful. I hope it works. If not, please, tell me and I'll try to fix it when I'll can. Good luck!!! By the way, the "stalling after autopilot" thing: I think it's because the planes are veery slow to climb, so you force a litle the plane to climb more steeply, so when you hit the autopilot you are nearly stalling, going "warp speed", and when exiting "warp speed" stalling. Same for the exploding Lloyds. Maybe when you hit autopilot, they are crashing because the take off bug, they go war speed and destroying after warp seed (a cazy theory maybe). -

Hmmmmm.....very strange. This doesn't happen in my computer. Give me some information, please: Have you tried same mission with a DFW or an Aviatik CII? What is the map? Are you using some formation or airfield mods? Have you tried to change the number of planes in mission?. Give me all the data you can and I'll try to fix it. By the way, There is other people with same issue? -

No news about these planes? With these and the Hansa-Brandenburg CI (if "someone" makes one when time available) we'll have a pretty good Austro Hungarian air force -
Hello, Quack, I'm back. I'm trying to reproduce your problem (in both FE1 and 2), but I'm not having the problem, even loading the plane with the big bombs, but I remember these kind of strange take off problem from time to time with other planes. Maybe game limitations or interferences from custom formations or airfields? I don't know....And I had never seen the engine failure in any plane from this series. Very strange thing, because the engine is the engine that Peter01 put in the Aviatik CII. Only difference is in thrust (less Hp in the Lloyd) Stephen, doesnt matters the FM difficulty you set in the game. You can fly in easy, normal or hard mode, but the AI flies in Normal mode every time.

How can I downlod the Russian girl? -
Err...sorry, but there is an error in the instructions for FE1: When installing the Machine-gun, you DON'T have to touch anything in the plane DATA.ini (only if you don't want this gun, because you are using only stock FMs, then simply rename the machine gun all the same, but without the _Gunner suffix). The data for the gun is to be added in the GUNDATA.INI file of the game (giving the correct number in the guns list instead the xxx thing), and then using the guns editor. For FE2 is much easier: Drop the entire plane in the Planes folder, then create a LloydC2 folder into the Decals folder, inside this new folder, make two more folders named Texture1 and Texture2 and copy into them the D folder from inside each skin folder. Then drop the 6.5MM_Schwarzlose_M12_gunner folder inside the guns folder and thats all! Beware! this plane is heavy and has only 145 Hp. It has good wings, so it has a good payload for its day, but it's very slow, and hopelessly obsolete in middle 1917. Only a little better than a BE2, so beware of enemy fighters!
-
Hello, Quack! I'm sorry to say, but you are experiencing the same issues than real Austro-Hungarian pilots! The Aviatik D.I had structural failures in upper wings when pulled too hard. The ace Frank Linke-Crawford died this way in July 31 1918 fighting the Italian 81 Squadriglia planes. These structural failures were the main reason for Austro-Hungarian pilots flying The Albatros or Phoenix when available instead the Aviatik. If you don't like this way, go to Data file an search for the MaxG entry and/or the DeffaultArmorThickness and set them at your own taste......Or simply fly it properly and not so hard maneouvering.

I have another problem, only in FE2 using Jan Tuma's terrain. They are a lot of shimmering buildings in the cities. Anybody knows a fix about it? I have no problem in FE1.
-
There will be, mate, as I have FE2 now. The FM will be the same in both versions, but now I can help Stephen with folder structure and testing in both games. Tomorrow I'll start working in the FM (It's 23:43h in Spain now). Of course, the FM will be based in the Peter01 FMs, and I'll add the new Schwartzlosse_gunner machine gun (and maybe more loadouts, very difficult looking for data for this aircraft).

June patch available!

Anybody knows if there are issuses in campaigns now? I remember Piecemeal talking about rewritting entire campaigns with May patch... -
Quack, I really love the way you make dirt metal
-
After more testing it seems the lower framerates in my system is caused by the unlimited effects. Lowering them to high I have much better framerates. Now it's time to add new sky, effects, tiles, terrains, objects, planes......
-
In fact there is nearly double framerates, and with nearly same settings (I think unlimited effects, to make use of DX 11)
-
Well, I just have it installed. For some strange reason I have more framerates in FE1 than FE2, and I have a Quad core I7 with Win 7 64 bits (the GPU is not very good, Nvidia Gt 230 1536 Mb). Maybe a driver issue?

Relax a little, please boys! Stephen is making planes at the speed of light, and it's a hard work! And it's for free, so let's thank him and stop the "I want, I want, I want" thing. I know the game could be improved in some things, and I totally understand your fandom towards Stephen, but I suppose the man has a real life too...

Realistic gun sounds
ojcar replied to Nixou's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2 File Announcements
I love the sounds. Sooo real! A pity you don't have proper sound for the Schwarzlöse... -
Quack, I think all Three planes were used in Italian front: Lloyd by the Austro-Hungarians, Rumpler briefly by the Germans (until Spring 1918, They left this front) and Albatros CIII I think (not sure) by Austro-Hungarians (there is a photo of a Albatros CIII captured by Italians). So any of them could be useful in "Forgotten fronts". Rumpler and Albatros were used in Palestinian front too!

Stop teasing me with Korea planes, please!!!! -
Pues no, soy de Madrid. Me llamo Óscar. La hija de mi ex-novia me llamaba Ojcar (en Madrid mucha gente pronuncia la s como una j) y ese es mi nick

I don't know. I have two installs, one with the Italy stuff and other with the France stuff, all of them with all Peter01 FMs (and some mine, all of mine are based in Peter01's works), and I don't have the reticle in the Phönix... Not a big issue, these reticles were very primitive and "cosmetic" and the machine guns only useful at point-blank, so I usually open fier at 0.1 distance in game. So, reticle for what? (in my case)

No sights for me in FE Gold.....but sights are for girls anyway
