dont forget to create the collsion surface stuff as well...

you need to get all the updated plane mods... the flight model changed with the patch... pre patch planes dont fly well at all... Stock planes you need to remove any extracted/moded .ini files... re-extract them and mod them again... alternativly download fresh mods... Tex

Adding 3rd Party Planes to Campaigns?
TexMurphy replied to SRT's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
after you extract the data file you have to move it into the directory of the campaing... -
Planes on "Attack" missions seem to hold formation much better... well too good because they dont break of no matter how much you shoot at them... When its 2 seaters on attack mission its ok because they have their rear gun... but single seaters are just cherry targets... Tex
-
Monty Im not talkin about gunners Im talkin about forward facing mounted guns on single seat fighters and two seaters.... the pilot needs a aiming aid similar to a turret or needs to start using rudder... before that is done AI will always struggle... Tex
-
I agree on most of them... some comments though... @2 For AI pilots I would like to see a "gun turret cheat". The forward guns are not fixed but are in fact gunner turrets that can move a little little bit. Only AI can move this turret and it only moves on AI planes. This would compensate for inability to use rudder. Alternativly implement rudder for AI. @4 Ummm instant action??? @5 Even WWII planes had issues of loosing their wings in dives... should definatly be added... @8 3 Model/Skin viewer with built in FM calculator... there is your uber modder tool...

I concure the frame rate is much much better... only one thing.. you might wana take a look at the shadow on the ground... its rendering without wings... Id say thats a minor issue though.. Tex

Winter Terrain Pack - Firecage/Tridyed Production
TexMurphy replied to Firecage's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
It has to be possible to have multiple terrains in FE.... Tex -
While at it I added one more thing. *AIData added. Not ballanced uniquely for this plane yet. Uses the same values as the Camel, shouldnt be too bad as they are quite similar to fly. Testers please provide input on how well your wingmen fly. Also EmID a few requests. *Propeller looks very bad from some angles. Got to F6 mode. look straight at plane, looks great. Then go about 45 degrees to side and 45 degrees up and you will se it become a octagon and very dark. You see this from many angles and it does look bad because you see this alot when you fight the enemy. One reason it looks wiered is due to it beeing sooo dark. I know its hard to make it see able and yet not too dark. One way could be to have a darker edge of the texture and a lighter mid area, that way the effect of a sping thing is there but you dont have a black disk in front of the plane. *Glas, please please please do the glass as nicely as A-Team does on their model it does so much for immersion. TexMurphy replied to Firecage's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
punt. any progress on this? I have the same problem and Im not gonna be arsed moving files around when I want to play different maps... so we need to crack this one... anyone with ideas? Tex -
Ok fixed the following *Mass *Engine power *Top speed (122 mph at ~3000feet) *Bouncing nose Didnt fix *Dive characteristics As before dl and rename to .ini Tex Edit: Damn it still not quite right on the speed... will update tomorrow... Edit: Ok fixed the speed, also made sure it was based on latest version of EmID´s data.ini file, fixed the bouncing with increased pitch damper Edit: Ok Im hungover and stoopid today... attached two files... the one attched now is the correct one... Ive found a few errors in the data.ini file I will fix them so please wait for the fixes before you release. Also Ive noted one thing. The plane dives extreamly well and can reach 220mph in a dive and easily recover it. The N28 was known for its fabric ripping of the top wing in dives, meaning not good dive characteristics. I will try to do something about this that would mimic the problem of ripping wings. We cant do wings destroying by speed but Im thinking maybe we could model some compression characteristics. I will look at it when I look at the other issues. Tex

Know very little of this plane but lookin forward to getting to know it as I will read up on it and fly it now that its in the works... Keep up the good job and hope to see more updates as it gets in game and starts getting a FM... Tex

TexMurphy replied to TexMurphy's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Dont thank me... thank JFM... Tex -
File Name: Albatros Package (DVa speed fix plus DI,DII, DIII flight models) including skins File Submitter: TexMurphy File Submitted: 14 Jan 2007 File Category: WW1 Aircraft Ok this is a package that makes DI, DII and DIII versions based on the DVa 3d model, for FE patch 1. This is just a place holder until real DI-III models come out. Including in this package is: *4 great skins by JFM. *3 new flight models. *1 (DVa) flight model fixed, post patch the DVa was way to slow. Requirements: *Too be able to fly the Albatroses you need the cockpit. http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...p;showfile=3701 Install guide: 1. Make a backup copy of <install folder>ObjectsAircraftAlbatrosD5a 2. unrar Albatros.rar into <install folder>ObjectsAircraft make sure to preserve folder structure * three new directories get created, AlbatrosD1, AlbatrosD2, AlbatrosD3 3. download and install the Albatros cockpit http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...p;showfile=3701 4. Also make sure to install the albatros cockpit into AlbatrosD1, AlbatrosD2, AlbatrosD3 (you just need to copy the cockpit folder as there are separate _cockpit.ini files for each plane and they are included in the package. 5. Add skins to AlbatrosD1, AlbatrosD2, AlbatrosD3. In the <install folder>ObjectsAircraftAlbatrosD5a you will see that there are a few subfolders. All subfolders except the "cockpit" one are skins. Copy one or more of them into the AlbatrosD1, AlbatrosD2, AlbatrosD3 directories. Thanks to JFM for skins and stats research. Tex Click here to download this file

New Camel released...available @ CA
TexMurphy replied to Tailspin's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
What is the difference between the Camel F1 and the Camel posted on Capuns site? Tex -
EmID Speakin of the shadows.... I dont know how the shadow file works but is it a 3D model of its own or is it generated? Both your plane and the DH2 show huge increase when you turn of the shadow casting... this would make me assume that the shadow file is the problem. If it is a 3D model that is the shadow then make it as low poly count as possible.. if it is generated make sure to generate it of the LOD with the lowest detail... Tex
-
Glas... could you please try to make the glass look like the glass does on the PfalzD3? It would do alot!! Tex
-
Ill have a look at it and fix it... Edit: Ive tested takeoffs on both hard and normal and they work well... on hard you do feel the torque so you need to apply throttle slowly but its still a very easy plane to take off on hard... compared to say Camel...
-
Ive made a few adjustments to the FM... The controll surfaces ARE big on the N28 but imho the controlls are too extream in your FM. Especially the rudder... it has insane rudder effect and virtually no rudder induced drag... roll rate is a bit too wild as well imho... and when you use your rudder to induce roll then its even more insane... So what I did was I calmed down the inputs a bit and increased the drag from use of inputs. Still its a VERY manouverable plane just not THAT insane.. ;) Tex EDIT: Couldnt attach ini file so here it comes as a txt, rename it when you dl it. N28_data.txt

For the first time I actually fought against it and I noticed a HUUUUGE FPS DROP when you get close to it!!!!! Its something you might wana look into. Tex
