A Call to 3D Action...
Tannethal replied to Major Lee's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Russouk2004: Yep have the ability to edit TGAs for myself. I just suck at 3d and lack max, not good for an engineer one might think. Thanks in advance. S! -

A Call to 3D Action...

May i also throw in a humble request. I'm in need of a just a flat vertical surface roughly 2 meters high and 20-30 meters long. that should be textureable with a TGA because of transparency. I'd like to put a speical writing in it's place. Least i forget: WoV object lib done similar to Polaks SFP1 one. Picture is not the best but should suffice. I've got also the footprints in FS Scenery creator format as well. PM me, if one wants them. -

Wrench thanks for the tip with the factory place, that one's up next for catalogizing it's objects. Another question what color did the base street lights in NAM have? Slightly orange or flat white Sorry don't have a clue there? And settig taxi lights in a arc is a royal pain in the a$$. ;-) S! -

The stock base just didn't do justice to the real one. Started out after being impressed by the DaNang Mod and some pics from YAP. Groundwork was done using Flight simulator Scenery creator and Polaks Tutorial on conversion to useable Thrid wire format. Hope it will be impressive once everything is sorted out. Populating it with statics isn't really planned but should be doable, we will see. Working on the lights right now. And nope it's not Aviano AB. UBon RTAFB is the place, 1969 the timeframe, more or less. Anyone knows of a small mast, height 10-15 meters, painted red/white without any Antennas cables and preferably in LOD format? Would be usefull for the Floodlights. And anybody has a vertical surface LOD roughly 20x2 meters that can be textured with a tga. In dire need for the special writing. ;-) S! -

@Fubar512: You never chease to amaze me and if you would ever give a rundown of all the goodies on your drive we surely would faint. OT: question, is it possible to have three RP on a TER or has some makeshift one been included in a weapons pack? I've seen pics of RPs on TERs but never got them to show up. S! -

My WoV wish list
Tannethal replied to grayson's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Looks like, still the info from Polak on using FS Scenery creator are valid. It's not ay easy as throwing them on a picture and once satisfied click once and you've got a flawless target.ini entry. But with a bit of time and fiddling one can make nice things with FSSC and Polaks tools. You can easily crate a layout but have to invest a bit of time for importing it flawless into target.ini See attachments WIP. Stock objects SFP1/WoV/WoE, some from Polaks 3d objects lib and custom runway/taxi/parking objects from Gepard. Don't be fooled there are roughly 300 more objects currently not shown to keep bugtracking simple. PS: First one who identifies the base gets a cookie ;-) -

WOV+July06 weapons pack=F-4J/carrier launch crash when resupply happens
Tannethal replied to turkeydriver's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Sounds more like the carrier data.ini is broken. Broken weapons would dump you to the desktop. So just to clarify: Do the A-7A and the F-4J start from the same carrier type? S! -
Possible glitches in SFP1
Tannethal replied to Basher11's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
flying behavior of AI wingies might also depend on their skill (setting). Not sure if it's missioncontrol.ini or a other ini file but there are values stored for each skill level. Among them are some with min safe altitude or something like that. Maybe they would hug the ground a bit better if their min safe flight altitude is lower that the values in missioncontrol.ini. Look for the "uberaimod" by Fubar, that contains said modded file for AI behavior. Then take the stock file and make altitude changes for the ai. S! -

Hi there, just reporting crashes to desktop on an AMD64, 1GB Ram and GF 7600GT in a otherwise clean Natofighters I+II WoE Installation. Happened inside and outside the cockpit but only after tried to take off by applying power and countering a verr with rudeders, if left alone nothing seems to happen. Imported the weapons into my install but there is no model for the MW2 dispenser defined, there is just that tiny submunition bomblet displayed on the pylon. S! -
Important Poll
Tannethal replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Got First WoV then looked hard for a boxed example of WoE, At the time SFP1 as around i hadn't yet advanced from the prop age into jets. If i should stumble over a boxed one on some shelf migt grab that too. Was a fan of RB3d but passed on FE, more into the jet age now and terrified of going back to such stringbags. S! -
WW II aircraft question
Tannethal replied to Atreides's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Are you talking single missions or campaign there? CAS seems to fail or complete on their own a lot, cause the groundunits slugg it out themself. Since enemy groundunits are primary targets and your friendly groundunits blast enough off them, the mission is completed. As for not having wingmen, did AI flights have more than one plane? And you can add pilots to your own flight via the rooster screen. S! -

WW II aircraft question
Tannethal replied to Atreides's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Should suffice, with Charles Medals pack there also comes a nations.ini that has all country entries, however these don't support the WW2 formations mod. I'd recommend to edit the nations.ini for a WW2 install. S! -

What should i do to get a playable F-104S/G in WoV? Help
Tannethal replied to Miracles's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Unfortunately the exe file download for the F-104G can not be applied to WoV. However that's a mot point since TK added all needed files to WoV with the latest service pack. It's just missing the Folder, a skin and the F-104G.ini to be useable. Refer to my earlier post as how to get it done. There is other stuff carried over from SFP1 to WoV that just needs folders, skins and inis to work. In the patch section i posted a file that contains the folders and inis for the "hidden" planes and groundobjects. Similar lots of WoV stuff was added to WOE with last service pack, it's just they are missing folder, skin and plane.ini. Also some WoE stuff trickled back to WoV, like seats for the Hunter and the like, however not a single WoE plane or groundobject. Makes sense, you get the stuff of the predecessor but not the one of the follow up. S! -
Tornado F3
Tannethal replied to peterbezemer's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
@Saganuay82: The F3 has a nice Tornado cockpit. The F4 pit is just a shoot from a simple B57G cockpit mod i threw together, based on Wrenchs original work and tons of threads with ideas and how to do posts. The pics are just to demonstrate the ability to change the Sight picture of the LD. S! -
What should i do to get a playable F-104S/G in WoV? Help
Tannethal replied to Miracles's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
If you've added the last Service Pack to WoV any Mod airplane refering to the Stock F104G cockpit should work. You might also try to create a folder F-104G in the Aircrafts folder. In this folder place any F-104G skin you like and create a F-104G.ini Now copy the following into the F-104G.ini [AircraftData] AircraftFullName=F-104G Starfighter AircraftDataFile=F-104G_data.ini CockpitDataFile=F-104G_cockpit.ini HangarScreen=F-104G_hangar.bmp LoadoutImage=F-104G_loadout.bmp LoadoutFile=F-104G_loadout.ini AvionicsDLL=Avionics60.dll AvionicsDataFilename=F-104G_avionics.ini [LOD001] Filename=F-104G.lod Distance=100 [LOD002] Filename=F-104G_lod002.lod Distance=250 [LOD003] Filename=F-104G_lod003.lod Distance=500 [LOD004] Filename=F-104G_lod004.lod Distance=1000 [LOD005] Filename=F-104G_lod005.lod Distance=8000 [shadow] CastShadow=TRUE ShadowLOD=F-104G_shadow.shd ShadowType=1 ShadowCastDist=10000 MaxVisibleDistance=150 [DamageTexture] DamagedPostFix=_holes.tga DestroyedPostFix=_shredded.tga Then run WoV and see if it shows up as selectable aircraft in Singlemission. See if you can fly it. -

Desert Storm & general terrain ?
Tannethal replied to Wrench's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Yeah Polaks tool comes in quite handy for creating a target zone. Not sure if this is still apliquable: FSSC will not save a heading of 0° correctly and so the converter won't save a heading information to the targetarea.ini Polak has done a libary of the stock objets for SFP1 and i sent him sometime ago the one with the additional WoV objets. From what i conclude from the WoE Targettypes. ini you will have all Woe objects too as there seem to be no new ones in Woe. Additionally you can create new parking makros for objects that came with a custom terrain, like some factoryplace objects that you then can use too. Just have to figure out correct meassurements for nonstock objects to get a exact footprint. S! -
"What If" WGAF A-4E Skyhawk
Tannethal replied to Wrench's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
Thanks Wrench. Always nice to have the choice. Now it's Ginas vs Scooters for mudmoving. PS: "Skooter" might be more proper, unless one speaks "ch" as "K" like Kina (China) or Kemie (Chemistry). German is a funny language. A translation to Scooter might be "Schlitten" (sled). -

Tannethal replied to NGHENGO's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
I'll be damned if i remember where i read it (Column5.us Forums; ini modding). They linked a chute animation to a wheelbrake system and the deploy animation was linked somehow to wheelsonground condition. That's all from memory, my excuses. S!
