Hello, the only ting that bothered me in OFF was the strange behaviour of the AI near the ground: Going up until stall - hammerhead (or Immelmann)- falling down - going up and so on. Is this adressed with HITR?

How Do I bind a throttle conrtol?
OHO replied to KanoneFodder's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - General Help
I have the same problem and still can't get it to work! when I move one or both of the main-throttle it doesn't recognize it, when I move another wheel on the throttle it recognizes it well. This is for throttles 1-4 and for the main-throttle. Another problem is, that I can't callibrate the throttle after I started OFF - I have to reinstall the driver again to calibrate it, but OFF doesn't recognize the movement - other games do recognize the throttle. Help!! -

Hi all, I just came back to WWI aviation with OFF. This is a great sim but probably too hard for me, the AI shoots too good and also seemingly has eyes also in the rear, so I can't sneek, while my hits hardly hurt the other planes. I would like to know if you can recommend FE with regards to the AI, is it good enough? Next thing is force-feedback - is it working good? Do I feel the stall-danger in FFB? Should I buy FE original and add some mods or is it worth to go with the extension-pack/Gold edition? How is the graphics (cockpits and scenery) compared to OFF?

Hi all, next newbie threat who is (after a bit of mourning because seemed too hard - but now I got some nice kills (even veterans aren't immortal) and the world's bright again) absolutely impressed by this beautiful game. Very nice are also the different little videos when I enter the campaign and the very good music - was this done especially for this game? It's becoming more and more fun. If one comes from WW2 fighting you try to get behind the other a/c, deflection-shooting almost never hits. Here deflection is much more successul because the planes are much slower. Another thing is I'm using much more rudder now - the feeling of slipping etc is very nice - completely different from WW2-planes though, turning with full rudder is often very useful - not like in WW2 sims - to get behind the enemy. The AI is very good, and varying a lot. Only question: When near the ground they almost never fly straight but they seem to do hammerhead (or immelmann?) constantly. Will you adress this in a future patch?

Thanks for your answer: How is the flight modell and the AI? And can I hide in the cloud and is wind modelled in FE?

I've found the Aircraft config files and found the line with Force-Feedback Aileron and Elevator_FF etc. which I would like to change to the Albatros values (160 and -160 iirc). I changed it in the SPADVII-QC config - Arcraft file (made a backup thank god of the original) with a standard (notepad I think) editor (I have WinXP). When I start the game in a SPADVII in Quick Combat I get a message like "This Aircraft doesn't belong to the OFF Aircraft" and I can't continue. I then renamed the backup file to config again and SPADVII was flyable again. How can I manipulate this file so that it's accepted by the game ? - or can someone perhaps change it and send it to my hoffmanns5@gmx.de adress? There are several folders for the same Aircraft - which one is for QC and which is for Campaign? Thanks.

Hi all, I have been flying around for some hours now and a few points I would like to mention and ask if they will be adressed - besides it's a wonderful Sim. 1. Sometimes I get ugly very white summer clouds without shades in it. I tried every cloud setting. Esp in Summer there is a very blue sky and a very white horizon which looks pretty cartoonish. Or is there any tweak for that I didn't find. The Skies in modded Il2 and Bob WoV2 are much better - As there are so talented modders here, can't this be addressed? 2. Airplane textures of the wings are often not very crisp. 3. Force Feedback for Albatros works very good - like in Original CFS3 - and strong. You can feel the force of the wind very good. But: Almost all other AC I tried have very sluggish Force-Feedback. 4. AI hits too good I think - but I'm learning how to avoid them. Many good things, too much to mention, Track-IR works very good with th 6 o'clock view.

Thanks all for the hints. I really don't see these grey underside in white puffy summer clouds that I see on the screenshot above. Where do I find the screenshots I made btw? I patched everything up. The only thing I didn't try yet is the effects set to max - I only set that on 3. Will try that and the FF-setting ASAP. The blurred textures on the wings are only for some Aces skins I chose (punishment for being blasphemic?) - the "normal" squad skins are o.k. And for the fun: I started to fly the SPAD which is a wonderful exercise for my backbone together with trackIR. To keep the enemy in sight I'm looking OVER the upper wing, thus stretching my back and releaving my intervertebral disc (I'm in a dangerous age).

It seems to me, that the guns of the other A/C that are shooting in quite a distance in a dogfight, are too loud. I'm often confused, looking behind me but no enemy shooting at me but a dogfight going on between planes that are > 300 metres away. Will this be adressed?

Thanks for your quick answers. I put up aircraft-resolution to 5 but still some skins are pretty blurred. Esp. in some german planes the downside of the upper wing - which is a part of the A/C I look at most of the time. I will look through the skins if I find some less blurred - could you recommend some for the Albatros? Can I copy the Albatros Force-Feedback-Settings to the other Aircraft somehow easily? They just "feel" better, like in CFS3. Its's not only the controls that I can feel (they may be harder on the German planes ) but also the wind gust and shakes, that put some forces on the stick, which is very nicely done in CFS3.

Hi all, The AI is really giving me a hard time, and so it's very rewarding when I shot my first Albatros yesterday. I have some questions regarding the AI-behaviour: 1. Can I sneak behind an AI-plane and shoot him (not like IL2 where a fighter will always have eyes in the rear of his head) 2. Can I flee into a cloud and the AI will loose my track (that would be very cool) 3. Do AI planes use the same flight modell as the player plane? I saw some strange behaviour: I was flying very moderately up and straight (in a Pup I think) to get some height and the Albatros behind me was doing something (to me) very foolish - he always went up to the sky and then dropped again over one wing (that's what I could see when looking backwards) Anyway he stays behind me - He should have lost speed with the strange manouver I think. 4. can I escape AI planes for example by diving down or will they glue to me until the end.

Hi all, I'm a newbie to OFF (not to flight-sim though) and would like to make a smooth start in the campaign. Are there airplanes and timeperiods and squadrons which were historically correct supirior to the enemy planes (faster for example like the me109 in 1941 in Russia), so that I stand a chance in the campaigns with full real setting? What do you recommend?

Which is the best machine and time to start with in campaign as a newbie
OHO replied to OHO's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Thanks a lot for the warm welcome and the replies. I just took off yesterday and after some problems with rudder pedal reversing and getting used to the different behaviour than for example a Me109 I even shot down a (rookie) Albatros in a Camel (I think) which was very rewarding . The stall is what I can deal with (I have TrackIr and Force-Feedback). I saw some strange behaviour: I was flying very moderately up and straight (in a Pup I think) to get some height and the Albatros behind me was doing something very foolish - he always went up to the sky and then dropped again over one wing (that's what I could see when looking backwards) Anyway he stays behind me - He should have lost speed with the strange manouver..
