I could be totally wrong about this, but i think that maybe the textures that are not loading are decals. Try Checking the Aircrafts Texture folder for the Decals.ini and make sure the path listed for each texture matches the actual path needed. This is and example of the text you need to look for in the Decals.ini... FilenameFormat=A-3B/Test/AB Make sure that it says the correct Aircraft Folder,Texture Folder and Texture File. I have had this problem a few times when renaming folders, I Hope this helps! -

My Current Install has all aircraft from WWII to Modern Day and its working now, However if anyone else wanted to go this route i would advise against it. I have been debugging my install for over 2 weeks now and there is still work to do. However it can be done in a single install, if you dont mind running into Japanese and German WWII aircraft in the same missions, I fixed this by creating a second aircraft folder with Only WWII Pacific aircraft and removing them from my main install. The date system works, but you would have to check each .INI and make sure the end service dates are correct. I set mine up to remove the majority of WWII Aircraft in 1946 and when i fly Jet Missions in the 50s i dont encounter WWII planes. Also another thing i found out was that some INI files are not spaced and formatted like a normal INI and the data is all compressed together. While this seems to work fine i found that these seem to be the aircraft that ignore the Start and End Dates. After rewriting these INIs into the standard format they worked fine for me. So all in all, it can be done, but it will be alot of work and a major pain. -

Im stuck with 256m onboard graphics until nVidia makes drivers that work with Star Wars Galaxies. So i understand what your asking. A Little Trick that no one ever mentions is to go into each aircrafts folder and open its textures in a decent paint program and reduce the size of the image. If The Texture File is 1024x1024 then just resize the file to 512x512, or for even better performance try 256x256. Reduction of image file size means you will lose some detail, At 512x512 its not really that noticable, Any lower and you can see the difference, but it still does not look too bad. As For resizing the Decals, i have found most of them to be less than 512x512 already and did not need to resize them. So only do the aircraft textures, however you also might want to look at your Terrain Textures, Especially the Runway tiles, and make sure they are all 512x512 or less. Also run the game in a lower resolution, try 800x600 or 640x480. That should improve framerates. Hope this helps! -

I have been playing FE this morning and it struck me of how much courage these pilots must have had to climb into the aircraft which are little more than armed and powered kites. Can you imagine how it must have felt to know you were about to engage enemys and if you took damage the chances of survival were slim? Im a big fan of all flight sims, but few give you the feeling of helplessness to damage that FE does. No option at all to get away from a damaged aircraft and if you have your landing gear shot off your pretty much outta luck. Thats not to say that for there time these aircraft were not top of the line, just that the options to these fighter pilots were so limited. You were either very good or you were dead. I keep hearing how unrealistic Thirdwires sims are, but for FE i dont believe that to be true. I mean whats missing? Gun Jams,A decent flight model,several aircraft,Flak and incredible terrain are all included out of the box. The only unrealistic thing i found was the throttle, in WWI its was all or nothing, full throttle or no throttle and thats easy to simulate for the people who want realism. A quick question though... How do i turn off the engine for landing, because for some aircraft they will not come to a full stop if its running.

I started my Star Wars Gaming with X-Wing on floppy disk, then TIE Fighter and Darkforces were a big deal when they came out on CDs. Over the years i have collected alot of star wars games like Rebel Assault 1&2,Jedi Knight,MOTS,Jedi Outcast,Jedi Academy,Kotor 1&2,XWA,Clone Wars for the X-Box and several others i cant think of offhand. Most of these games have been mentioned but no one has said anything about Star Wars Galaxies. I know it got a bad rep when the Major Changes were made, but i came along after that happened and i love SWG. The game is so deep, You can go almost anywhere on the ground and the Space part reminds me of a Upgraded XWA. If you have not tried it yet i would recommend it. If your are new to the game the whole issue of Pre-CU and other changes will not be missed and if you are a veteran who left during that whole mess, give it another shot during one of the free weekends that is offered every so often. I have so many great memorys from this game of everything from slapping Vader and getting Choked out, to Running smuggling missions across Tatooine, To decorating my house which sits just outside Mos Eisley. For real SW Fans this game is paradise IMO!

Im also interested in this. I have 2 aircraft folders in WOE, one named aircraft and one named aircraftWWII. I did this so i could just rename the folder to switch between jets and WWII aircraft. What i would like to do is fly a campaign in the Battle of Britain Terrain. I can edit a campaign and add/change aircraft but i have no idea how to write the rest of the info for the campaign. I have been reading up on campaigns but i still feel like im in over my head and my attempts to edit a existing campaign to use this terrain just causes crashes. Im sure the answers i need are in the knowlage base, but finding them has been tricky. Can someone either write a campaign for this terrain or point me to the posts in the KB that explain how to create a campaign from scratch? Sorry for being such a noob and i apologize if this is considered hijacking a thread, but it was very simular to what i wanted to do so i didnt want to start a whole new thread for something that i think both of us will need to know! -
Lunar Lander, Such a simple game but i played that game every chance i got. I also loved Sinistar (Beware, I Live) and Gun Fighter. When i was about 12 we got a Dracula Pinball Machine and i wore that poor thing out. Ah the good old days!

Welcome! As for myself i started with Aircraft downloads, Then i grabbed some terrains. However make sureyou download a Desert Terrain tile set because WOV and WOE do not include them and alot of the Strike Fighters terrains use them. -

Did you download any sound packs? I downloaded one that had increased Bass levels for subwoofers and they caused a popping noise for me when i would turn the volume up. Just an Idea, but i hope it helps! -

All the ones i have downloaded so far work perfectly with the new patch. In fact the only incompatability i have found is when i tried to use FEs stock aircraft in WOE. The downloaded aircraft work fine in WOE but not the default ones for some reason. This is really a non-issue since FE aircraft dont really belong in WOE anyway. Since your new to modding you could not have picked a better Sim! TK makes all the Thirdwire games very easy to mod and you will quickly become comfortable making changes to make the sim do almost anything. Welcome to the World of Thirdwire Sims!

I downloaded the 832504 Soivet counter attack Campaign and have been playing around with the INI files and swapping planes into a 1962 era campaignand i have learned alot so far about how the sim works and came out of it with a USAF and A Soviet working Campaigns. But if i look in any other campaigns folder the Data.ini is not there. Where do i get this file from so i can edit the other campaigns? I want to tweak the WOV campaigns with to have Modern aircraft operating from the Carriers. And how would i go about making a custom INI file for a campaign in a custom Area like the Bering Straits terrain? Also, Is there a way to create multiple loadout.ini files that will activate at different years? Like if i wanted an F-16 to carry AIM-7s until 1986 and then have a different loadout.ini for carrying AIM-120s? The more i mess with the thirdwire sims the more i like them, i have em all except strike fighters and they are so much more then i originally gave them credit for. I dismissed them as too arcade like when i first got WOV, but the more addons i install the better these games get. The open modding of the Thirdwire sims is by far its greatest asset. I come from the Falcon4 AF Community where each and every mod is supposed to get Lead Pursuits approval before it can go public and i can honestly say it held that sim back in alot of ways. Thanks to TK for these great games and for letting us continue to improve upon them and Thanks to all the hard working Community Members,Aircraft and Terrain designers out there! With over 200 Aircraft and about 8 Terrains in my WOE install these designers have given me the flight sim of my dreams! -

I'd be happy to, but its not my work, i just modified the DBS campaign that i downloaded here and is property of the original author.i didnt have to do very much to get it working. I renamed the folder to woeCamp6 and The main thing i did was change the terrain the file looks for because the new version for WOE is not named DBS, its named BeringSt. Also for some reason i got a CTD when i tried to fly for the British, so i deleted all the British Squadrons and renumbered everything. Then i changed AC types and weapons loadouts to the ones i wanted to use. I also needed to edit all the .txt files to show the correct aircraft on the little notepad on the campaign selection screen. All in all it was pretty easy to get working. I'll copy the 2 files i modded and maybe someone can offer suggestions. The woeCamp6.ini... Yeah, i was just using than as an example. Are multiple loadout.ini files possible or will the sim automaticly start using new weapons as they become available? My understanding here isnt 100% clear, but i think the sim uses the loadout.ini to configure aircraft based on mission type listed inside right? So lets just say I want the sim to load AIM-7s on the F-16 up to a certain date then after that i want the sim to arm them with AIM-120s for Sweep and CAP Missions. Can i have multiple Loadout.ini's or do i need to duplicate the aircraft and have Aircraft 1(AIM-7 Loadout) exit service as Aircraft 2(AIM-120 Loadout) becomes available? I hope thats understandable. I'll keep reading them but I have been reading so much the past few days its becoming a blur LOL. I think what i was asking about is the Campaign Data INI. In some of the old SFP1 campaigns there are 3 or more forces, listed as Force 1,2,3 ect. But what was mentioned earlier was a problem with ground units using this method after the latest updates, so i was wondering if it should just be a 2 sided fight and what those problems actually are so i know what to look for when playing. I still have alot to learn about editing but i have to say Thirdwires games are a modders dream. The INI txt file layout is alot better than messing with some other sims 3rd party editors. Just looking at the files explains alot about how to edit it and now that i know where to find these files i'll be learning for a long time LOL I Downloaded the DBS Campaign and am in the process of tweaking it into a working WOE Campaign with the updated Bearing Straits Terrain. Its a dream come true, all the files needed for a campaign seem to be there and i have been looking at how it works. Some Campaigns just have two files, but this one has everything. Great for a beginner to look at.The ease of editing and number of Aircraft and terrains available make this series my favorite game, i have not played Star Wars Galaxies or Battlefield 2 for almost a week now. Only bad thing is im spending more time with addons and editing than actually playing, but it was well worth it when i flew the first campaign i had edited. Thanks Again for everyones help! -

Thanks, Thats exactly what im looking for. And since these are the default campaigns when i finally get it all figured out i can release them so other can try them. My Two current modded campaigns are designed to fit the stock description screens for the 62 Campaign but with alot different aircraft. My Red Spear campaign has 1 Sq of MiG-15s,3 Sq of MiG-17Fs,2 Sq of Mig 19s,3 Sq of MiG-21Fs,1Sq of Yak-28s and a Squadron of Il-28s. My Silver Sheild Campaign is the exact same campaign as Red Spear but you fly for the USAF in either a T-33A,F-80,F-86-40,F-100D,RB-57A,F-104C,F-106A,A-5B,F-4C,U-2A or O-1E. I know the T-33A never saw combat with the USAF and the F-4C wasnt available until 63, but its an Alternate universe. Besides the T-33 are the bases Trainers and the F-4Cs are a pre-production evaluation squadron LOL. I didnt do much to the Targets or Ground units other than replace the T-72s and M1-A1s. Other than that its the Author of the 832504 Soivet counter attacks work so i wont be releaseing it, but its alot of fun once i got all the loadouts sorted out. Some of the dogfights are intense in these early 60s era machines.Getting jumped by MiG-17s in a T-33A was a memorable mission! Im looking foward to seeing what i can do with Naval aircraft in WOE.I cant wait to fly the Hornet and Tomcat in some modern campaigns. About the campaign code, So i should keep my campaigns limited to only two forces? Like USAF and SOVIET, Not USAF,USN,USMC,WGermany and SOVIET, right? I was thinking of adding some Land based Navy F-9 Panthers and Luftwaffe F-106Gs to my 62 Campaign, So i guess i just make them USAF? Thanks again for the info! Do i find the campaign description files in the same cat file? I would like to make some custom ones for my campaigns. -

I now have a ton of aircraft in WOV,WOE,FE and many Great Terrains for them and i wanted to thank everyone who makes these great addons! I have been flying alot of WOE single missions in the Bearing Straits and hardly ever use the default aircraft any more. I love the F-80s,F-86s,F-106s and my aircraft folder spans from the Me-262 to the Yf-23. I really like how the game automaticly uses new aircraft as enemys in single missions. I have a few questions though... Does a model exist of the 1st Phantom? I believe it was designated F4-H or something like that, not talking about a Rhino version, it served before that. I have looked all over but have not found one yet. Also, I cant hit anything with my ATG weapons, I either drop them too soon or get to low and blow myself up in the process. I downloaded the Bombing Range terrain and will practice, any Tips? Thanks! -

Yeah, I was talking about the FH-1 Phantom. Im a little surprised that it has not been made yet, but maybe someone will build it. Most of the other early jets have been made so i cant complain in any case. This sim has more addon aircraft than almost any sim on the market except for the MSFS series. I have WOV,WOE and FE, Can someone point me in the right direction to buy a copy of Strike Fighters? Is it still for sale anywhere or should i try EBay? I mainly want it for the dessert terrain, but What aircraft does SF have that are not included in WOV or WOE? Thanks -

I Just wanted to say Hello and introduce myself. I have flown many sims over the years, i started with BAOs Flight Simulator 2.0 and earned my wings in most of the great sims over the years, Air Warrior,Warbirds,The Janes Series,Falcon 4.0 IL2 and all the Microsoft Sims.The thing i like about Thirdwires sims is that they are FUN! hardcore study sims have there place but sometimes i like to fly without a huge manual close at hand. It takes only a few minutes to memorize keystrokes and jump into any of Thirdwires sims and be able to survive missions. I still love F4 for pure simulation, but i like the time era when WOV and WOE are based.They cover alot of legendary aircraft and with open modding you can fly anything you want.They also remind me alot of Fighters Anthology and from me thats high praise because it was a very enjoyable sim that i spent forever playing. I have WOV and WOE and many of the addons, but i had not even heard of First Eagles until i found this site. I bought it from the Third Wire website and so far im very impressed with the game. Another Winner from TK! What i would like to ask of the forum is... What are the best downloads for FE and where do i find them? Thanks!

Thanks, I contacted the A-Team about Downloading the Dr1. Thats one of the great things about these sims, All the community created content. I have about 60-70 Aircraft in WOE and 3 Terrains and it seems like everyday something new is released. I have downloaded several new aircraft for FE so far, but one thing i'd like to find is Snoopy flying on his doghouse, Does anyone know if this has been made? I know it was for MSFS, but not sure if it was made for FE yet.
