  1. There seems to be some issues with mission generation sometimes. I'm flying for 103rd Aero in June 1918 and I've had two missions that were screwy. The last one was an airfield defense at midnight. Not scramble but airfield defense. I have historical missions selected in workshop. In P2 we had the option to not have night missions. Is that gone now? Also I got one REALLY screwy and I attached a screenshot of the briefing. It's no big deal to work past them, just thought you should know there are issues. Note the distance, round trip distance, estimated mission time. Also note the mission altitude even though I have low selected in workshops. This issue is constant, but again, workable. Thanks
  2. Who knows why ?

Actually,IRC, it was Maj. Barraca's personal emblem in the Italian Air Force then adopted by Ferrari. Don't know about Porsche.
  3. The Claim Game

I have to agree with Old bat. The first purpose of this sim is to immerse one in a WWI airman's experience. For my part, I'm happy to survive a mission. I rarely live long enough to see any kills confirmed, promotions or my squadron re-equipping. Fortunately, the team provided a simple setting for all the Stachels who are so highly concerned about getting their lkills confirmed or a high score racked up. The WWI airmen didn't receive a handbook on how to fill out reports in order to get their claims confirmed. A pretty medal, the Blue Max. If that's your goal or you want to be the first of the aces, then go for the easier claim setting. I personally, want to beat the Red Baron in only one thing...to live longer. All else is a bonus.
  4. Just flew an airfield attack mission and popped a balloon on the way out. It burned after two or three bursts and went down to the ground in flames. Flying ALB DII for MFG1 in 12/1916.
  5. Next airplane for OFF?

I throw my vote in with the early two seaters and scouts. It would be nice to fly the EIII at some time when it wasn't obsolete. Like Voisins and Farmans, Moranes, Aviatiks, etc.
  6. Since 1.28, I've been the flight leader in three different squadrons, british and German (I have three pilots set up) even though I'm junior in rank and I have by rank selected in workshop. Has anyone else noticed this? To top it off, I was leadin a flight of DH2's when the blighters went off course and all headed west, towards the ocean. I flew among them and kept hitting the R key but they disobeyed my orders. I guess now we need military reprimand forms along with our claim forms. I've got three pilots to bring up on charges. Even if they're of superior rank.
  7. Follow the leader.

Thanks for the info, I hadn't realized that. I do believe the missions I'd been leading were ground target strikes.
  8. A Bristol Scout followed me the the aerodrome and after I landed, I watched him do his low level acrobatics while the ground mg's peppered him. I watched him crash right behind me. I was afraid he'd hit me there for a moment. Here's a screen shot of the wreckage.
  9. You might want to try raising your cloud settings in config. I have a Radeon HD3850 and my fps is better with higher cloud settings.
  10. On a semi more serious note....the roll rate is non existant for me. In short I can't get the bicycle to roll....forward. Can someone help me with the controls, if they work? I advance the throttle and it stutters a wee bit one time. The stick and rudder pedals don't seem to do anything either. Thanks P.S. Is the model T gone? Hey, if we could drive the Renault ambulance we could start out as drivers like a lot of the Lafayette Escadrille!
  11. Increased FPS immensly

Wrong answer...been disabled a loooooong time. Just about everything is disabled.
  12. Bicycle still no move. Neither does the Model T I noticed the front wheels go left and right with the rudder pedals. The bike doesn't show anything. Neither move after releasing the brakes CTL+SHFT+B. Even tried remapping the control. Engine on Model T goes fast and slow with throttle, but still no move. Help...
  13. Patch 1.26 observations and comments

So far, I've noticed about a 50% drop (10 in my case) since I upgraded to 1.26 tried to go back to 1.25 but can't without reinstalling apparently.
  14. Tough to be German

The german planes, after the EIII typically enjoyed a power advantage that allowed them to climb and generally dive away from the enemy. This, however, doesn't seem to be modelled here in OFF. Try to outrun a Nieuport in a DII or DIII. But, I've noticed that when I fly German, knowing I have the twin guns and therefore twice the firepower of the enemy, I enjoy a great confidence boost. I would think this may have been tru IRL also. As a note, for the German planes (at least the early ones), I reduce the fuel to fit the mission plus a safety margin to get a gain in performance.
  15. Increased FPS immensly

I get about 5 fps boost. Along with that, I noticed, once I start my engine, the fps drops by about 10. I guess that spinning prop needs a lot of resources.
  16. This one is for the devs or people knowledgeable about CFS3. I'm still having low FPS due to my system but I'm trying to sort whether the bottleneck lies in my video card or my cpu. Specs for those interested Intel P4 3.2ghz, 2 gig ram, Soyo Dragon II MB 800mhz fsb, ATI radeon 3850 AGP. Settings 5,3,3,3,3,1 All low end for this, I know and the HD3850 is problematic by itself, but here is what I'm observing, and I believe, others have as well. This is all in campaign. At takeoff and initial climb out, say 10 - 12 planes, I get 25 to 30 fps. I get really excited. As I continue to climb and time passes (both inevitable occur at the same time early in the mission) the fps continues to drop to about 8 - 13 based on over the front and/or number of airbases in view. My question is, am I seeing this fps drop due to more of the world and therefore more objects in view or, as time passes, does the activity increase loading up my cpu? I ask this because: As I continue to climb, and less detail is presented, the fps still stays low. When I return to base and perceive the same viewpoint as on takeoff, the fps doesn't go back up, but stays low. If it were only video issues, I'd expect the fps to go back up at least to that on takeoff especially since there's only one aircraft involved instead of 10 or 12 and that one's myself. The only bearing this has is not upgrading, but whether I need to continue trying to tweak my video card or if it's a cpu issue. I don't think it's a heat issue, as they don't get progressively worse, for the whole mission, they do vary up and down based on what's in view, but the whole range drops from 25 - 30 at the beginning to 8 -13 for the remainder. Before anyone offers the basics, I've already been tweaking the config and workshop settings for best performance balanced with immersion and I've been doing this since P1 came out so I already have read the tips and tricks past and present. Thanks for anyone who has any thoughts on the matter.
  17. System load clarification

I know ,y hardware is sub par. I am only interested in pursuing this so I know whether to quit ripping my hair out tweaking the vide settings if it's the cpu that's the bottleneck.
  18. System load clarification

did test. The gpu temp stayed between 55 and 56 even when overclocked. The ACPI temp stays at 79 c all the time which seems high. Over 15 min, the FPS degraded from 20 to 9-10 just sitting on the field with the engine running.
  19. System load clarification

Hey Gimp, never thought of that one, I'll give it a try. BTW, I don't get that big a gain in FPS on lower settings...maybe just one or two fps.
  20. Questions and Observations

I've seen it both ways myself. Fighters staying at altitude and turning with me as well as diving for dirt. I will say that the diving seems prevalent. Like Rex said, and it's a basic tenant of air combat, if there's more than one, let the diving guy go and take himself out of the fight and concentrate on the high guy. He'll have more energy to spend. Classic strategy when there's two of you, one goes low and the other guys high. The high guy attacks if the EA follow the low guy. The counter to that is to follow the guy going high.
