Hi Everyone - just want to keep this thread as a kind of diary and of course show you the latest status Quick summary: - Reworked quite a lot of tiles - Still fixing minor heightmap issues - Added two airfields (just to fly quickly around) - Added major towns/cities (ok, 2-3 are just fantasy, e.g. fakes) - Added trenches in rocky- and snowy-tiles - Frontline will be the Isonzo river instead of the Piave (which is farther west and wouldn't give much to the italians in terms of airfields). Sorry for this, esp. for late war scenarios, but I had to make a choice - Still unclear for me as of what part of the map is 'flyable' and where it stops (so in other words the how big is the frame, which would be just eyecandy from far away) - Certain rivers have to be flattened, or completely removed...looks silly if the river goes up-down the mountains - Target-Areas, balloons, etc. so all the nice little stuff is still missing ...bottom of the priority list - Currently positioning tiles one-by-one....this will take ages ....more.... ...more.....
  7. Fantastic Quack! Looks great!!! Here are a couple of additional 'shots' Current issues: - Can't get the heightmap correctly (I've certain peaks like the Himalaya and holes in the terrain....have to sort this out) - Tilesets a nowhere properly placed, except roughly the coastline (where I've to flatten out certain island) - Tilesets will have to be reworked (rivers through rocky mountains, trenches in mountains, etc.) - etc. etc. etc.

  11. - altered terrain & heightmap - yes the tiles are Jan's - mountain, valleys are in ...ohh, hey, no promises about the ETA (it's finished when it's finished). Wife, two kids, dog, house, etc. are eating up my time anyway :-)

  16. Thx Wrench! Tried your suggestion and it works like a charm within a specific mission. Now comes my problem (mind you FE Gold here) - There's a download here on CA that makes this for the Verdun map (see http://combatace.com/files/file/3893-active-battlefield-for-first-eagles-version-2/) - This worked perfectly on my old FE installation, but not any longer within FE Gold (??) - So I've tried to reverse-engineer it....sadly without any satisfactory results - Results are: Guns, etc. show up but they don't fire at each other (even if I place them very close and facing each-other together) - Found also an entry on the TW forum that explains exactly my problem (see http://bbs.thirdwire.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=5751)...sadly without response My additional entries look like...   17. Hi Everyone, (FE Gold here) Question: Would it be feasable to create a groundobject (maybe from an existing one) that creates an explosion effect from time to time? This groundobject could be placeable with the missioneditor and/or in the targets.ini file for every map. Is there maybe an emittertype that has a 'timer' in it, or would it be done with an effecttype? I know that these explosions would happen always at the same spot, but let's say every 2-5min (or less) . So we could simulate a barrage without having to place the guns every time (whizzbang, german75, etc.) that shoot at each other. Any ideas? Could someone lead me into the right direction? kind rgds & thx in advance for feedback gterl

  20. See your point..... how about 'tuning' the overall stock of available aircrafts? Example (I know it's an extreme one, but just to exemplify): - Change the 'availability' to RARE for every fighter (Camel, etc.) - Change the 'availaiblity' to VERY COMMON for every two seater Now I know this is an extreme solution and needs to be tuned depending on the aircrafts sitting on your HD Overall this is an extremely individual process, since not every player has the same ACs within the game. ..guess it's a matter of tuning and trial-and-error PS: You might double-check the other entries within the data.ini files of the ACs you're missing (PrimaryRole, AircraftRole, etc.).   22. Thx Heck! Well I should have written more in detail....yes I ment 'Single Mission', don't want to change the 'instantaction.ini'. Since I don't like to have my eyes bleeding, but want to see more movement on the ground (even in single-mission)....is there a more simple way than - modifying the HUD data - flying above the map an writing down the offset whenever I want to place something - editing targets.ini and types.ini accordingly ??? Mind you, I could live with modifying types.ini, but writing down line after line within targets.ini will kill me Not to mention writing down all co-ordinates Is there a tool for such work? Something that could help here? thx gterl
