Tomorrow, When The War Began: The RNZAF perspective (photo story)
JonathanRL replied to dtmdragon's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Sci-Fi/Anime/What If Forum
Thats how TSF begun. At any rate, if I remember the book correctly, the initial wave was low flying, fast attack jets such as A-5 Fantan and the like. -
Oh, gather 'round me, comrades; and listen while I speak Of a war, a war, a war where hell is six feet deep. Along the shore, the cannons roar. Oh how can a soldier sleep? The going's slow on Anzio. And hell is six feet deep. Praise be to God for this captured sod that rich with blood does seep. With yours and mine, like butchered swine's; and hell is six feet deep. That death awaits there's no debate; no triumph will we reap. The crosses grow on Anzio, where hell is six feet deep. . . . Audie Murphy, 1948

Tu-95MS & Tu-160 ?
JonathanRL replied to casias111's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
There is a Tu-160 in the works. However, as I recall - it needs a skin. -
Viggen Project

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8TjXx23iio This is how far we got last time. It may look almost finished but the plane was very early alpha. Hope this one fares better :D -
SAAB Viggen
JonathanRL replied to Wil's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
My issue is that I do not want my mods to rely on people getting access to their site. I like to make "all-inclusive packages", mostly because my target audience are people who never heard or played SF2. The ironic thing is AFAIK the Viggen was heavily updated by people on CA and the only thing still A-Team on it is the conversion to the SF LOD Format. Not even the 3D model they used is theirs and I even have the authors permission to use it. Grinds my gears? Of course it does. For me, the Viggen would give three - maybe four - new campaigns for the TSF. It is that important to the history of the Swedish Air Force. -
SAAB Viggen
JonathanRL replied to Wil's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
A sad tale it is. I have long wanted the Saab Viggen for The Scandinavian Front but I have never recived permission to use it. I admit having almost given up hope, but the community has their ways and this is one of them. Not having a Viggen is a big gaping hole in TSF as it is an essential Swedish aircraft. -

Weapons for SAAB 21
JonathanRL replied to YEYEYE's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Mate, if this is very early then I cannot wait for the finished product. It is simply put amazing. As for a pit, Stary made a very fitting stand-in unless you plan to make a real one. http://combatace.com/files/file/12035-late-ww2-cockpit-3-a-36-stand-in/ As for weapons, Allow me to dig into The Scandinavian Front mod folder. If it exists, we got it. -

Do you have issues with the mod aircraft only or ALL of them (including stock ones) -
Weapons for SAAB 21
JonathanRL replied to YEYEYE's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
You rang? The J-21A (prop version) was an interceptor aircraft and carried only cannon. A-21 and A-21R could carry rockets and smaller bombs. J 21 and J 21R could however carry a ridicilous gunpod with 8 machineguns. I have images if you need em. Internal Weapons: 1x20 mm Automatkanon m/41, (20mm Cannon) 4x13 mm automatkanon m/39 (13mm Cannon) I for one hope you will do the J 21R as well. I am very interested in one for TSF. If you need anything else, you just let me know. I would be happy to beta test... ;-) -
campaign night missions

Naval Maps do not support Night Missions for some reason. Just a heads up. -

CARRIER DUEL This is a modification pitting the fictional Norwegian Carrier KNM Norskehavet vs Soviet Aviation Crusier Kiev on a sea battlefield. Each Carrier carries their compliment; Kiev a flight of helicopters and Yak-38s; Norskehavet F-11s & S-3As. This is a less intense engagement since neither side really has the firepower to finish the other off and the pace is slower. It makes for a refreshing change of pace from three tons of Crusie Missiles. Due to issues; Only the Norskehavet Force is playable. Good luck and may the best Air Crew win. Requirements: You are required to own Strike Fighters 2: North Atlantic for this mod to work properly. Everything else is included. Beware: The mod has its own alterations of the Kiev. If you have a modded Kiev, simply change CarrierNumSquadrons=1 to CarrierNumSquadrons=4 and continue normal use. Installation: Unzip into the Saved Games/Thirdwire/Strike Figthers 2 North Atlantic (or any mod folder of your choice, connected to SF2: NA). Please do read the enclosed credits, as without the work of those mentioned, this modification could not be made. -
...and you will never get the time nor the money back for it either :P

I am 25% Austrian. My mothers granddad fought on the Eastern Front and was awarded with an Iron Cross. When he died, we each got a letter from him explaining why we got a certain item. I got the Iron Cross and in the letter was the story of why he got it. I have never told anybody why. And I never will. Suffice to say, I find it a little disturbing to have in my house but its a reminder that sometimes, we do things we are not proud of and that we have to live with the consequences.

Any other players of this fantastic RTS here on CA? Names ArmedDolphin in game. Feel free to challenge me in both Airland and Red Dragon :)

Even with some of the restrictions they want to implement, do you know how good you have it? Go to a gun shop and buy your favourite over the counter. When I come visit the states, you guys owe me a day at the range with my choice of weapons. I need that after a life in this country ;-)

At least Battlestations: Midway / Pacific had the RTS and the Strategic element to make it fun. Sure, flying sucked and the forced flying was even worse, but that is not why you played it. As regards to Air Conflicts Vietnam? Avoid.

Mod manager?
JonathanRL replied to betterstranger's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Most people do not bother, as SF2 is fully able to use mod folders to make different mods work at the same time. -
Swedish Campaign (The Scandinavian Front)
JonathanRL replied to JonathanRL's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
The issue has been reported in TSF 2 thread. I know what cause the issue, but have no clear solution yet. I´ll get back to you on it. -
SF .1 compared to SF .2
JonathanRL replied to RUSTYMORLEY's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Also you have access to a lot of great mods that are SF2 only. I can name a few recommended ones should you desire it. -
The Scandinavian Front 2
JonathanRL replied to JonathanRL's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Annoying. I thought I had handled that bug. The wierd part is that I do not know what else I can do to prevent it. Placing out ground forces (the usual solution) would make the ships fight tanks on water. I will see what I can do about it, but no promises. -
