Battle of Britain (1980) mission briefing.
JonathanRL posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
Right, Chaps. Keep a lid on it and settle down. Today's briefing will cover the expected movements of the enemy. As you are all well aware, Central Europe has since the Russian Attack last year looked pretty much the same as the Great War we all know and love. Considerable NATO Reinforcements brought by the successful REFORGER Convoys but it came at a heavy price. The Opposition managed to seize Iceland, too late however to actually change anything. Scandinavia is effectively out of the fight after the Soviet push in that direction, but it seems they cannot spare the manpower for a direct invasion, settling to destroy their navies and air forces. Our sources have confirmed to us that the Soviets have decided to act in a rather different manner. Knowing trying yet another attempt to break the stalemate in Europe would be futile, they have decided to move in our direction. Soviet naval activity, including the Heavy Aviation Cruisers Kiev and Minsk has been put on alert, as has the rather considerable bomber fleets of the Northern Fleet. They are going to open up a second front by conducting an invasion of Scotland. To do so, they must suppress and destroy the elements of our Home Fleet, as well as you lads, the Interceptor Defence. The Queen is of the opinion that Ivan should have to reconsider this plan. As such, we are as of right now ready to repel the enemy Blitz to defend the assets and prevent the Soviet Invasion. Nimrods will be providing us with updated information about Ivans movements at Sea. Aside from the Naval Forces - and that will be the problem for No 12 Squadron out of Lossiemouth and 800 NAS off HMS Invincible - we can expect a considerable amount of Soviet Bombers to pay us a visit. Assume Tu 16 Badger, Tu 22 Blinder, Tu 22M Backfire - the usual lot - supported by Tu 95 Bear for reccie. Now, the Viggens and Drakens of Sweden taught Ivan the lesson that he needs to protect his bombers or lose them in large numbers, so do not expect this to be easy. Intelligence estimates that Tu 128 Fiddlers and MiG 25 Foxbats will be employed in the long range escort role. They cannot turn all too well, but neither can your Phantoms. Do not underestimate the capacity of these aircraft. To make matters more interesting, we expect them to be supported by Tu 126 Moss AWACS to lead them towards or away from us. Allied Forces in the area will not be of much use. A few E 2 Hawkeyes who survived the sinking of USS America has been lend-leased to us, crew and all and will be in support in this operation. They are smaller and carry the queens flag so you will not confuse them with the Moss. Survivors of the Royal Danish Air Force have relocated to the Faeroe Islands. We have established a support base for them at the local airport. While small in numbers their CF-104 Starfighters should be good in a crunch. Home Fleet will be lead by the Navy's new toy, HMS Invincible carrying 800 NAS. They operate Sea Harrier FRS 1. The Navy will also form all ships that can be spared into a Surface Action Group to assist in countering the Soviet movements in the Pond. Expect these assets to be the primary target of the Soviet Operations. That is all for now, Gents. Good luck and Godspeed! -

It may be a long way but I assume one was relocated during the conflict. -

I usually go close and use the Sidewinders and Guns. If you give them range, they will tear you apart. -

The language package is still on the table. Just not for this release. I want to do it correctly, so when you hear "Aquila Lead"; you will actually be Aquila and not somebody else. That requires timing and work with the subtitles. Recording it all is easy. Making it fit in is harder. -
Pictures of an experiment I am working on with SF2:NA & FE2.

Let me put it this way. A Viggen would give me material for at least _three_ more campaigns in the 1970 to early 2000s range. So please do if you feel you have the time. The Real F-35 is of course included in the package. -

About time. That game has not been very easy to get. There never was any digital versions of it. -

A always liked the 899 Tail Insignia. For a while, I actually thought it was the Fleet Air Arm logo. -

Use the SF2 Installer and all that you own is installed automaticly. Just enter any of the codes of your games and it will list what you own and what you want to install. -

There has been several but for different reasons, none have worked out. One of them I suppose is because DAT has a Viggen and most people can get it if they desire so they do not see the need for one that can be released with a package. However, for me it is unfeasable to base a campaign around somebody having to wait 1-2 weeks to access one of the aircraft. It is sad, because they have a pretty decent J-21R as well. How about you ask them this time? Its actually pretty funny. It is not even _their_ 3D model to begin with, they converted one from a person who have also given me access. However, I doubt neither me nor CA is willing to go to court just to see if a conversion of a model into a Game constitutes protected by copyright; especially as the skin is by paulopanz, the FM by Baffmeister - and the list goes on. Bitter? Me? You bet. -

I just been asking for one for about two years now. I pretty much given up hope, sadly. -
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-25752460 Leave it to a kid to find a good and obvious solution but still quick thinking by the lad and probably a great drill for the Marines as well. Reminds me of when travellers was stuck in Europe due to the ash and the Navy put em on ships to bring them home.

Ocean Terrain water problem
JonathanRL replied to swell's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
The Terrain is LOD based, just like the Terrain in SF2: North Atlantic. And since the terrain is literally only water I am afraid there is not much to change; The NA Water Shaders are a hog on the system. I do not know of a good way to get around that. -

Combine that with Starys Tiles, and I think we would have one hell of a map... Some serious skill, right there. -

The Campaigns are based around the Scandinavian Air Forces and with the Campaign Customizer DLC, flying as the Russians is not an issue at all if people choose to do so. -

After having a swing or two, I must say this is some nice piece of work, Kevin! Whenever I get to do that "Hunt the Bismarck" Campaign I been wanting to do for half-an-eternity, this map will be pretty damn good for it.
