What happened to all the Helicopters in the Downloads Section?

But...what about the Gnat Mk1? And the Finnish MiG-21? -
First test. P51 Mustang Second test: B-52 Stratofortress B-52 Stratofortress You`re a B-52. You are old and wise, and you absolutely love destruction. You believe in the principle of "peace through deterrence" and aren`t afraid to throw your weight around.

Make Airfields smaller
JonathanRL posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
I have for my mod the need to add a airfield. Now I just want to know, how I can I make the airfield smaller - by say - half? I only need to reduce the scale of the picture really, but if it turns into a shorter strip, just more fun since its going to be for Finnish Air Force Gnats at any rate. -

I can make them flyable, but it would not be that fun really. Why I do not intend to make them flyable is this: 1: I choose Falklands Terrain because it and Åland looks pretty much the same. However, Soviet uses "Water Airfields" and does not have any proper Airstrips. 2: Soviet Forces outnumber the Swedes. It would be a little too easy campaign (as opposite to flying for Sweden who is fairly hard). 3: I have not even made Finland flyable because I want this mod to focus upon the Swedish Figthers. They will however appear as AI Aircraft with Gnats and MiG-21s (and if 2010 campaign is added, F-18 Hornets). However, I had an idea to add a Carrier into the entire mess for a campaign at a later date, and if I include that, I will make sure Soviet side is flyable with MiG-27Ks and Yak-141s, mostly because it would be more balanced with one CAG against Ålands Air Defence. -

Some Screenshots: J34s from F8 Svea Flygflottilj engaged in Battle and a J29 Tunnan starting from Kumlinge Airstrip. Will start to work on a campaign where the Viggen might make an entry once I squashed all the bugs. -

*waves with a Swedish Flag* Some of us was actually offended by that. We should have participated. Sweden is far to left wing sometimes. Im glad for my double citizenships (Service in Bundeswehr is a benefit on the German end, Swedes did not want me...wussies). Having lived in Sweden all my life, I know praising Israel is frowned upon, one of our news agencies beeing largely to blaim for that, beeing the mouthpiece of the Palestinian Terrorist Groups. -

I am currently raping a Falklands Terrain. They look basicly the same and the Falklands once has the added benefit of "Water airfield" - i.g the Russians dont have any Åland airfield yet. This is primary for Beta testing tough. The mod is almost finished, its just the campaign bugs I need to sort out and most of them is about the Terrain. I also started trying to custom make a terrain myself, but that goes slow. -
Hello. I am currently in the late stages of creating a Battle for Aeland Campaign with Swedish Air Force defending the Island and - guess who the bad guys are. At any rate; At this time the mod is purely for my own entertainment but I would like to get in touch with the following creators: Makers for: "J-33 Venom" Skin and Mod. "J28B Vampire" Skin and Aircraft. (The Venom mod with preinstalled Swe skin) "J34 Hunter" Skin and Aircraft (The Hunter F6 mod with preinstalled Swe skin) J29 Tunnan Aircraft J35 Draken Aircraft J37 Viggen Aircraft J39 Gripen Aircraft (Expect a PM, I know you who are ) Creator of the Falklands Skin for WoE (I raped it into Aeland... they look pretty much the same at any rate...) Here is the question I give to you all: Is it okey if I release a mod with your content, giving you full credit in the readme? If not, please contact me via this thread or PM. I bask in your unseen presence for the Aircraft btw...

Viggen, Correct me if I am wrong but is not the F-11 Tiger the only plane to ever have shot down itself (with guns, no less)? At any rate, I dont belive it either. Screenshot or it did not happen -
I feel young compared to you lot! Anybody who can spot the error on this picture?

Wings Over Israel [Official Thread]
JonathanRL replied to column5's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I just duked it out with a Jordanian F-104A in 1967. Only requirement for me not getting my ass kicked would be clear skies... Had to add a cockpit to it tough, and I added the J-39 Cockpit, just because I did not have the time to enjoy the plane in WoE... Thanks to Bounder, I now also can fly the Hunter. I scored a Mirage in that thing. Could have scored the one on the second picture as well, but I ran out of Ammo. She is a nice bird to fly. -

So - I have downloaded and played some missions now: First thing. I am embarassed to admit this but basicly the first thing that happened was that I was shot down. By a MiG-17. Usually, MiG-17s are only target practice for me, nothing really serious - Just something to waste your Sidewinders at if there is nothing other in the area. I was flying a Close Air Support mission, loading up my Nesher to the point it was hard to get off the ground. I went in there, saved the troops and saw Snoopy buy it from SAM. I slow down, turning to destroy the SAM with my last Snakeeye when I notice the MiG-17 behind me. Pulling upp to Full Throttle, I call for my wingman to swap the annoying little fly while I take evasive action. But no, Muhammed would not allow me that. Firing a burst, he scored a hit in my tail section, and another one hit the Wing. It was just to bail out and live to fight another day. The second mission was equally simple. I loaded an A-4 with two bombs and two Aim-9s and took off in order to destroy ships outside Tyre. MiG-19s entered the fray in order to stop me and unlike the previous time, I did not have a figther escort. Knowing that the Wingman could hit the target on his own, I ejected the bombs and went to meet the two MiGs, scoring one with Guns on the flyby. Chasing down the other, Red Crown alerted me of more bandits coming in - a bit more serioius opposition consisting of MiG-21s. This time I knew I could get a Atoll upp my engine so I flew low and fast trying to shake them while my wingman hit the ship - and the MiGs was not fooled at all. My wingman got torn to shreds and I was now alone. Firing a sidewinder at the MiG-19, I then decided it was time to disengage. One kill, and mission failed. This game is really an improvement! Btw, anybody want to try out the Multiplayer and can point me in the directions of some active servers? -

How to destroy Carriers?
JonathanRL posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
After a 4 plane flight of Mirages armed with Exocet missiles failed to destroy the Carrier HMS Hermes despite the fact that all four missiles hit the target and after the HMS Hermes tore up my wingman with a s**tload of flack, I searched the forums here and discovered that Carriers could not be destroyed. How to make Carriers destroyable. I dont need em to act as airfields or anything, just tell me how to destroy them with a moderatate effort. Would be great if the carrier was destroyed after 3 exocet hits or something but If that is not possible, just tell me how to make em destroyable. -

How to destroy Carriers?
JonathanRL replied to JonathanRL's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
While people stopped calling ships "unsinkable" since 1912, I Agree that Exocets might not do enought damage, but that does not mean that they are unsinkable. However, A few Exocets are more then enought to sink a Hermes class Carrier. For the last two years, American Carriers and Destroyers have practiced against a Swedish conventional submarine in order to learn how to detect them. This is because Iran have a number of similar, very silent submarines witch can be equipped with a new russian torpedo (forgot its name). This torpedo does have the firepower to severly cripple a carrier, and several hits would sink it. While an attacker might be satisfied with only disabling the carrier or make it unable to conduct air operations, out goal is to sink it. Aircraft is out of the question unless we can use a lot and a lot of "vampires" (Air-to-Sea Missiles). A carriers missile and phalnax system, and their AEGIS escorts as well as fighters can destroy hundreds of missiles. The best way to take an carrier would be a cordinated attack. Use airplanes to distract the surface fleet, use scuds if in range and let the Subs do the killing. It might also be preferable to use subs against AEGIS crusiers instead of the carrier, giving the "Vampires" a better chance not to get shot down. I will try to keep this my last reply so I dont get accused of trolling and I will npw also go and read the thread you hinted of. I like theese kind of debates. -
