  1. Change your behaviour, GAW - fly FOR your wingmen. Watch them, guard them,

help them out, and bring them back home with you.

It will be rewarded - with a good feeling, and with confirmations!

Well I always take note of everything, but when I was filling my claim form , I was brutally interrupted by the...WIFE!

So,I send the form forgotting to put the witness. When I saw what I did i think:Man what a idiot!

Maybe in future patches Pol could include a way to correct claim form filling interrupted by wifes?

  2. The Camel is my favorite plane as well, always has been. And I love the BHaH offering. And just like the real thing, it does NOT respond well to ham-fisted pilots. Treat it gingerly and it will outfly anything you come across.

    Cheers!

    Lou

In my first attempts with the Camel I actually broke the left wingtip into the ground in the take-off run just after have applied throttle.

(and there are people that say OFF doesn´t have torque modeled)

I learned then to apply right rudder, a little aileron to the right and accelerate slowly to avoid this happens again.

I think the Camel was so agile because it has some degree of instability, besides the very concentrated center of gravity.

The problem was that flight computers have not been invented yet and that instability caused a lot of fatal crashes too.

  3. When I´m gaming for a while, from times to times, the screen freezes for 10-15 secs but the simulation seems to going on, because when it unfreeze, it does it in another position, like the game was doing all the calculations.

I never experiences lock up or CTD, just this weird freeze.

I´m using a Intel E8400 , 4Gb RAM with Geforce GTX 260 , at 1680x1050 and sliders 5-5-3-3-4-2 and I have smooth frame rates all the time, with some slowering over my airfield, but still smooth.

Anybody are experiencing this image freezings?

  4. What a wonderful fighter. It´s impressive that OBD team could reproduce the natural behaviour of the Camel( turn left nose up, turn down nose down)

It´s nimble, climbs very fast, turns in a dime, the two Vickers can do a beautiful work...

I´m flying DiD , 100% realism(using warping) an so far have 7 claims in three missions (still pending)

In the first days with OFF I try to fly the Camel , but I had a nasty stall when I was in the six of a Alb DIII, low over the frontlines.

I gave up with the Camel, but now seems we are understanding each other...

I need to care of this pilot , because until now I wasn´t able to confirm 5 kills in any of my campaigns...

Í declare myself a very happy masochist pilot of the OFF community.(we are all masochists flying this HARD sim and loving it don´t you know?)

I´m not saying you are a sadist ,Pol

  5. In the summer of 1916 around Somme I regularly come across flights of Huns in my Nupe 17. Flying for French in Esc. 26. So now you have plenty of time to get to know your aircraft and then you'll be ready to bring down all those nasty boche later in the war!

But if the dev team ever decides to release an expansion pack or two that for example add new early war planes, I'll be among the first to buy it... one of the reasons for some sectors being very quiet can be that there simply are not enough planes available for the time period.

I was flying near Verdun in early 1916, in Esc 3 "Cicognes".I have done 10 missions and nothing.

I supposed that Huns was flying Eindeckers in that time period, aren´t they? Did germans had no mono or biplace represented ingame at this time?

Well, I have deleted the campaign, because it was sterile too, like the English one.

I tryed a german campaign at same time, flying an Halberstad DII , with regional air activity setting to heavy and started to see RAF Be2c (I had shot down one)

It really amazes me the WAY it´s go down.

They don´t explode or lose a wing with few bursts , in a arcade way,but instead, demands a lot of lead into the fuselage and engine, starting a fire, that gradually grows up, the two seatter then slowly loosing altitude until crashing in the ground. It´s so hard to put one down sometimes, that I go down near to the ground with this one, just to see it crashing , to take notes in the map in order to do a more accurate claim form.

In other sims, I will never get loose from the enemy formation, because I probably will put down 3-4 enemy A/C.

    Not so easy here,chap.

  6. Luiz, if you join an Escadrille, make sure, it is "offensive", not "defensive". You can find that

in the choice menue. And, as Interlocutor said, some have more, and others less action.

If you settle near Arras in 1916, you should "have fun" - on the other side are Bertincourt

and Brayelles. Some of the finest German aces around there. And me, with my Albatros DII.

I´m currently in the "Cicognes" squadron (Guynemer´s) .

if you guys are saying this is the way it is intended by the devs , it´s good to me.I will log some more hours until I have the chance to bag some huns or to be bagged by them.

  7. I have flying early campaigns in the Nieuport 11 in 1916 and I´m starting to think something is wrong. The last one I deleted because after 12 hours of combat time I have seen nor even one enemy aircraft.

I started a french campaign now in the third mission and no enemies until now, even when the mission is over the enemy airfield.

Is this right?Maybe there is nothing related , but it´s happening after the 1.30 patch.

I´m flying DiD ,100% realism, but using warping.

  8. In the first few days of OFF3 before all the threads on this topic, I was (sadly) putting in a bare minimum of details, and got a few claims confirmed, others denied.

What I would REALLY like to know now is, if I shoot down 2 Fokker EIII's in a mission, do I enter it under one claim line (ie: choose 2 on the number of A/C drop down menu)

OR do I enter them separately on 2 claim lines (ie: choose 1 and 1 if they are the same a/c type)???

It seems to me that if claims are confirmed with some element of randomness (and this seems to be the case for me), that version 2 has a better chance of squeaking by at least one of them.

Sorry by the noob question, but how can I fill all the details required (height, local in the map, time of mission,WITNESS?)Do i have to take notes?

I finally finish my first mission in the tripe, had sucessfully attacked an airstripe, take mg hits, survived, and after that downed two Alb DIII.But I wasn´t able to fill correctly my claims, all I could write was that I downed two Alb but don´t had any clues if I had a witness.I suspect that after all the hard work I probably will not have any credits at all.I had tryed to review the mission to fill in more acurately my claims but was impossible, the screen was obliterated by the claim form...

  9. Hello

Go to workshops and select 'Campaign', 'Database Warnings', to "off" (this is in the centre column about 2 or three settings down - from memory)

    HTH

    WM

    Thanks,Winder.

I was already looking in the workshops and found this button.

That solved the problem.(not really a problem but a feature)

  10. You get that message when a particular pilot is going to be on the scene, but the skin has not been created yet. We've done 3200 skins, but we have 1300 and some odd pilots, most flying several a/c through their careers, so, as you can see, we're still only part way there. So yes, you will get the error message, just carry on. The ace will give you a nasty surprise when he shows up in an anonymous, borrowed a/c.

    Cheers,

    shredward

Ok,thanks.I suppose this happens more often in early scenarios?

  11. In campaigns, when I hit the go to field button, I keep receiving this messages "non critical error:skin from plane... is missing from path OBD/campaigns etc

Will be replaced for standart skin"

Usually is referring to special ace skin.

Then I press "OK" about ten times and go fly.

    I´m using 1.28 patch in a portuguese Win XP SP3 32

  12. C´mon , I will really need to adapt to this ww1 machines because I have been beated so hard countless times, and I´m only in QC until now.

Well, I only have 1 hour of flight time tomorrow night (took eleven days to mail arrives), let´s see if I adapt or things will became worse with time.

Maybe my flying skills have deteriorated a bit because I´m using a saitek rudder for the first time in years and I´m still struggling to adapt with it too...

Excuses, excuses,I need them to heal my smashed ego...

  13. Luiz,

UncleAl understood your question perfectly. Trying to make sense of his answer however, is where it can get a bit challenging. I think I understood the part about scalps hanging from a lodge pole. The rest of it I'm still working on.....

    Cheers,

    Parky

    No problems , Parky.

Pol´s statement makes total sense to me,about aces dying only in their historical dates.

    It adds to imersion.

  14. The name of the game, is survival to fight yet another day, if you SPLASH 12 enemy aircraft today. Tomorrow you might not be as Lucky, because another 12 will be awaiting your appearence. Just living to fight another day, is your mission. Any brave fool can wade into the enemy formation, and go down in ball of flame. You might encounter Ace #23 with 14 Kills to his credit today, and Ace # 16 with 11 scalps hanging from his lodge pole . . tomorrow, if either one kills you, you're just as dead. But if you manage to survive those meetings, you might meet Ace #95 the following day. There are NO personallities in WAR, only survival

I´m not sure you understood what I was asking, but Pol did it and already answer my question.

    Thank you very much anyway.

  15. He will definately remain dead for the remainder of the mission. Campaign that's another story, and the Manager learns by it's mistakes, so it might indeed be more difficult to kill him yet again. Besides for every Ace you kill, a pair might take his place.

You are the enemy, and you must die PERIOD. Their feelings about killing you are unimportant.

I've yet to attack an airfield with aircraft on it ( scheduled attack )

So what can You hope to accomplish, waste your precious allotment of ammunition. Ventilating tents and empty Hangers ? And while you're in the process of ventalating, the occupants WILL return in force, and be not in the best of moods, where you are concerned.

Well , I didn´t know the airfields are mostly empty.(I´m still waiting the mail)

I was hoping to be possible to weaken an enemy squadron by catching it with their paits down in their airfields(something that could justify the risk of facing AAA)

So,you can fight with the same ace many times in the same campaign,if I understood well (AI don´t play DiD)

  16. Here's some notes I made for Nvidia card systems. Works great with my GTX 260's. Make sure you have the latest Nvidia drivers. I got a 10fps boost when I recently upgraded mine.

    Overrides settings:

High Resolution Z Buffer ( deselect Dual Pass Render )

    Terrian Detail Texture

    Disable Validate Device

    Disable Write-Only Vertex Buffers

    Disable Write-Only Index Buffers

    Texture Info:

Composite Terrian Texture Usage ....... Render Target

Composite Terrian Texture Pool .......... Managed

Composite Aircraft Texture Usage ....... Render Target

Composite Aircraft Texture Pool .......... Managed

Those are the OFF tweaks. If you need help with the actual Nvidia control panel SLI tweaks let me know.

Winston, I´m very interested on your settings, because I have the same VGA than you.

    I´m using a E8400 with 4Gb RAM in a 22 monitor.

Can you post your entire setting?

    Thanks.
