New Nvidia drivers out - 258.96
sandbagger replied to Hellshade's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Both of my PCs are XP 32 (dumped Vista - way to flakey). I've today installed these drivers to my work station, which has an old Nvidia GT6600, and the performance seems to have been tweaked, even on that card. -

Hmmmmm - it probably would be a nice addition to OFF Actually Vasco is correct - many thought that the type used by Garros was the Type N monoplane and many pictures show that aircraft. However it was the Type L that he first fitted a machine gun to and scored successes. -
Thinking about buying but...

Hi BD, Welcome to OFF. As others have said, the OFF team are not full time flight sim developers, but work on OFF in their spare time. I'm the junior team member, having joined the team back in October 2007. What I can tell you is you'll be hard pressed to find another team with more dedication and enthusiasm for historical accuracy and sim content. I'm obviously aware of the next release and what's in store and it's good, believe me. Until then get into OFF and hone your skills - I think you'll need it :-) -

Very nice. How does OFF compare to ROF, which it seems you shot this with (animated cocking levers on the guns etc)? -

3D: coming to your flight sim soon?
sandbagger replied to Bandy's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Hi Rob, The edimensional 3D glasses definately work and are good for CFS3/OFF. Quite how they transform non-3D games into 3D is way beyond my understanding. I've read on-line testing which included sucessful CFS3 flying. Originally I had these glasses in use with a Sony 19 inch CRT monitor and they worked great. The in-cockpit view was brilliant with individual bracing wires and surrounding detail in full 3D. Outside views were not as good although it may be I hadn't set it all up fully. When I moved onto a 24 inch LCD monitor I found the glasses didn't work. I then found out that edimensional had released updated glasses and software to allow 3D with either CRT or LCD monitors, so I purchased a set of those glasses. However, I've had problems getting it to run. Basically you get a dongle that connects to yout GPU card outlet and to the input on your monitor. Connetors are analogue, but if you have DVI digital output connectors on your GPU, they say DVI-analogue adapters should work. Also you have the small IR transmitter that connects into the dongle. The wireless shutter glasses pick up the signal from the IR transmitter. It seems from reading various post on the web that these glasses can run into problems with LCD monitors. The minimum refresh rate needed is 70 -75 Hrz and my monitor seems to be fixed at 60 Hrz. Lower refresh rates may cause ghosting. Also it seems that you need to use the edimensional drivers for LCD monitors, which some say are lacking. It use interlace technology which can reduce frame rates, something all OFF's are concious of. Also it appears not all GPUs are able to run the software. Those that get it running on LCD monitors are very pleased with the results. Those that don't are not!!! Of course these are my personal opinions based on my own experiances and from what I've read. I'd recommend these glasses if and only if, you run a CRT monitor. If you have a LCD monitor then I'd be cautious about paying out for these. -

Already here if you purchase 3D glasses (mine are EDimension) - they don't yet support Vista and you'll need an anologue GPU output - I swopped them across to my gamer PC but is digital so can't use them for now - cheaper than the alternative -

You guys were lucky - I live close enough to see the Battle of Britain Memorial Flights hanger - most Summer weekends and many weekday evenings I have to put up with them flying low and slow over my home as they line up on finals into RAF Coningsby. Don't even mention the Dakota. It's a rough life here but then someone has to do it

Hi all, I saw recent threads regards how to set process priorities in Windows Task manager. Some responses stated that you can override the default setting, but once you restart the PC these values revert to the original settings, meaning that you'd need to set these each boot cycle. I've come across a free utility called 'Prio', which allows you set set resource priorities, but will remember these settings each time you reboot or cold start your PC. Once installed I noticed that the OFF exe and TrackIR5 exe were not listed in the task manager. So I started each in turn and once running, hit CTRL+ALT+DEL to bring up the task manager. Then right click on the exe and select 'Set Priority'. Set the priority and OK. You'll get the expected MicroSoft warning about changing settings. That's it basically. If you check then or restart your PC and check, you'll find the priority is still as you set it. I'm no IT expert but if you think it might help, download from this link: Prio

How did the ace "custom paint schemes" work for the French?
sandbagger replied to Ryan H's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Even during WW1, manufacturers of the same aircraft used their own versions of the 'official' basic camouflage. If you see enough Spad XIII's in OFF, for example, you'll see slightly different base schemes between manufacturers SPAD, Bleriot, Kellner and Bernard. During WW2 the camouflage of aircraft types were delivered according to the official scheme for that type or its operating role. -
Killed flight members stay alive?

Hi Per, Normally you'd expect to get notification of pilot losses after the mission. I'm sure 'Winder' or 'Polovski' will provide an answer on this, if they're not beaten to it by other forum members. Good to see you here - FAW is looking great -

A little performance tweak?

My main rig was Vista 64 bit with 8 Gig ram, but it was to unstable, so I had it reverted to XP. I'd be interested to know how these tweaks make use of the extra ram. -
