Israel 2 problem?
csb replied to tank03's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Check the Knowledge Base "Aircraft CTD & Low FPS". It may help. -
Make sure the Aircrafttype=folder name. Drop down list will then have a.c name according to the a/c ini (AircraftFullName).

problem with aircraftcarriers
csb replied to Wraith27's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Do you know that you need to add carriers into the terrain's target.ini I haven't got this campaign and I would think the author include an updated targets.ini but maybe not. What does the readme say about the carrier? Does it say about adding to targets.ini? Does the carrier ini comply with the way ground objects are installed since sp4? Both answers can be found in the knowledge base. -
Hi What, The 2nd test was a ripper! I was was able to watch our answer in the 2nd innings. Actually I was surprised England declared at 500something, especially cause we got over 600 in Brisbane. Our early win hasn't spoilt the last 2 games. 5 nil, 5 nil...!

Graphic changes after add-on installs
csb replied to Cmte. Carvalho's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Sounds like a change made by EffectsPack (Dueces?). Probably easiest is to downloade the afterburner pack, its called Afterburner Buffet (at combatace - SF Objects Mods). It has about 30 afterburner flames plus a picture of each, some look like original. You can also assign specific burners to specific a/c. -
Red, I love the sound of the Barmy Army chanting. Sounds awesome. Looking forward to 2007. C'mon Aussie! Cheers.

Well, the cricket is going great - from our side anyway Australia 4 England 0 One more test (game) to go. If you don't know much about cricket, this is a 5 Test(Game) series. Each game goes for 3 to 5 days, honest. And we won the 4th test on day 3. Go, Aussie, Go !! Sorry to any pommies. Better luck next time

ok new problem
csb replied to Caveman's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Check the post "Aircraft CTD or Low FPS" in the Knowledge Base. Don't know why it would happen only in campaign. But maybe if you do the simple edit it will be ok. -
Aircraft Shadows in WoV
csb replied to bigalsunit's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I actually don't have that problem (nvidia) but I don't like the shadows - the edges are too sharp. But I like the ground shadow, for the reasons you said, and I like the ground object shadows. So I tried to edit to just take away shadows on a/c. Still got ground object shadows but no a/c ground shadow - seems to be tied to a/c shadow. -

.ini editing tutorial requested
csb replied to Brophmeister's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Ah, the good ol' Knowledge Base. USAFMTL & BUFF give it a plug everytime someone asks a Q that it answers. And they never seem to get frustrated about doing it. Good on you fellas. -
.ini editing tutorial requested
csb replied to Brophmeister's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
If the chopper that causes the ctd is the Mi-24 Hind then in the Knowledge Base is the answer - this post "Aircraft CTD or Low fps". I was getting crashes until I found the answer here. Also the mi-24 bucks like a bronco if you fly with flight model settings on hard - change to normal or easy. Hope this helps. -

sound mod on helium?
csb replied to tank03's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
You can use the Sound Recorder that comes with WinXP to slow down sounds for SF, WOV, etc. Start menu - All Programs - Accessories - Entertainment File - Open - go to the sound file you want to change. Then you will use the Effects option. Self explanatory. But not sure if this is the problem for you or not - why sound is ok in one game and not another -

csb replied to AAFG_Sturmo's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Hi Sturmo Try this edit in the F4's data.ini, under the [FlightControl] section (near top of data.ini). Change the value for GunBoresightAngle= to a higher number. My stock value is -2 (Negative number!!!). In all F4's I actually found the rockets would shoot too low, so I changed the RocketBoresightAngle to higher value. Rockets were -5, now -1 (gunsight still -2) I think I will check my guns accuracy as well. And I always use caged mode for shooting guns, can't stand the floating reticle. Strange though, I think these are actually for the ai. PS I will send you email soon. Cheers, mate. -
When flying the Yom Kippur campaign from this pack there are NEVER any enemy fighters in the target area when doing any strike/attack missions. My squadron can fly to the area to drop bombs, etc but no a/c intercept us on the way to or in the target area. Does anyone else have this issue. There are enemy a/c over 50 miles away doing various missions. Makes these missions a bit boring. Only SAM's and AA to worry about. I checked the campaigndata.ini and enemy a/c have intercept and sweep as allowable missions. In single mission, using the Israel terrrain, there are enemy a/c in target area, just not campaign.

MiddleEastWars pack - why no enemy in target area?
csb replied to csb's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Sturmo, your post makes good reading. Very upbeat. So if you are correct, I hope someone can tell me a way to allow interception of my ground missions. The F4 in the Hammers Sqn has an air superiority role, so this sqn isn't assigned ground attack. You can see this if you check the campaigndata.ini. The sqn has only air missions. Other F4 sqn's have ground attack roles. And there is an F4 E Egyptian skin available (at combatace?). I replaced 3 sqn's of Egypt with the F4. They really put up a good fight and do ground attacks. I suppose it depends if you want very accurate historical campaign. I have reduced the SAM's along the Suez front and in the North of Israel also - slows my framerate tooo much. Also "borrowed" USAFMTL's oil installations from his Desert Storm terrain and placed many of these in the Israel terrain. His installations are huge and make great target areas. You can make cluster bombs available to a sqn in campaign. Just add to the weapon supply list under each flyable sqn in the campaigndata.ini. Your planning maps are great. A big job, what? They just seem a bit cluttered - perhaps smaller print? I often get that bulge along the Egyptian front into my territory and they take 2 or 3 airfields. Exciting. I use hard settings also - more realistic/challenging and is actually easy to track targets and mission route. I trust your wingmen are armed and watching your six. Greetings to you Craig -
Can AI anyway perform a BVR attack?
csb replied to Loren Mash's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Check this thread at Simhq. About 8 posts down, PFunk talks about a simple edit to the MaxVisibleDistance under [DetectSystem] in individual a/c's data.ini to increase the detectable distances of planes. He says it gives the jets "BVR". http://www.simhq.com/simhq3/sims/boards/bb...;f=145;t=005615 -

csb replied to AAFG_Sturmo's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Mine have a loadout and in single mission it assigns any added pilots but not in campaign. You will notice all a/c that ore rostered will have the loadout but any you call up wil need to be loaded, with what you like. -
Israel 2 terrain
csb replied to csb's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Firstly, as I said, your map looks great and 1:1 scale, very impressive. Some coord's for floating trees : 665970 , 643940 615970 , 637994 666028 , 647955 662104 , 641980 666047 , 633964 616023 , 657991 Sorry, I can never work out how to add screenies. -
KMD landing and take off
csb replied to arf16's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
Arf, do you realise that you can end (ie Esc) a mission anytime after "Your mission is completed", even before landing and mission will still be success. So you can depart from carrier, do mission, then land anywhere and end mission. -

Hi You need to edit the MESSAGESYSTEM.ini, extract it from FlightData.cat. Edit the time under [MessageSystem] Easy one as you probably know. -
KMD landing and take off
csb replied to arf16's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
Are you asking because you don't know how to do it? Or because KMD doesn't seem to be able to do it? In the Mission Properties screen there is a button (at bottom) called Waypoint Parameters. Press it. In that page is a dropdown list titled Command - this selects what type the waypoint is. There is a tutorial for kmd at Avsim and maybe even here at Combatace. I write this not knowing if what you ask can be done, just helping if you are unsure where to find things.
