  1. OFF & Seven - thread separated

    I've run OFF BHaH/HitR on W7_64 without nary a problem and I'm proud to say that I'm a devout "kool-aid" drinker: I love Cherry/Pomegranate flavor. plug_nickel
  2. We Can Fly

RATS....Can't put nothing over on you fabric and wire guys. plug_nickel
  3. We Can Fly

    We Can Fly.......FOR REAL!!!!!!!!!!!! plug_nickel
  4. ROF Claims Theft...Is It True?

And the gestalt of the RoF thread is that we've just witnessed Jason do a "Charlie Sheen". Very sad IMHO. plug_nickel
  5. Hey Tamper, maybe the following link will help regarding "good power signal" time interval. It has a straight forward diagram showing start up sequence in ms. http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/printpage/Everything-You-Need-to-Know-About-Power-Supply-Protections/905 Even though it's probably not necessary, I've always checked the psu when swapping a new one in. plug_nickel ps: Absolutely, positively stay away from ANY psu that fakes the PGS on the 5v leg; you'll be sowing the seeds for a complete new system.
  6. See if any of your friends has a multimeter. If they know how to use it, you'll be able to tell if it's the PSU by testing the 12, 5 and 3.3 volt legs using the two power cables from the PSU. Hopefully, you'll have the schematic or pin-outs on the PSU. Once you have the power cables disconnected from the mobo, it shouldn't take more than 10 minutes to double check both cables and tell if the PSU is working properly. plug_nickel
  7. And for those that are running everything on one drive, one partition, set OFF/BHaH/HitR on the outer most track followed by TIR and then the Swap File. If you really want to be "anal" and squeeze the living daylight out of the setup for performance, disable indexing and then find one of the downloads that will allow you to change the order of files/folders and arrange them in alphabetical order. This will help in sequential reads. I used to do the latter back in the W98SE_beta 5 days and continued up to XP_32, but no longer. plug_nickel
  8. Issues With Setting Up in Windows 7

Bitlocker is a supplement to W7's Encryption File System. It's not an a.v. or an external security program. Depending on how the o.s. was initially setup, it may be turned on. Go to Control Panel > System & Security > Bitlocker Drive Encryption > Check to see if it's enabled on the drive and disable it. You can enable once you're finished. plug_nickel
  9. Issues With Setting Up in Windows 7

See if you have Bitlocker enabled and if so, disable and try reinstalling BHaH again. plug_nickel
  10. We have reputations?

My guess is since it's in the negative, you won't be taxed. I'm a 5. I'll be looking for a 1099 sometime in January. plug_nickel
  11. In regards to "CoD" or "CLoD", it wasn't the graphics or detail, but the base code that made it virtually unplayable when released. When a game won't even run properly when dropped into a virtual drive, there's something atrociously wrong with how the game is coded. The initial release was more a pre-alpha than a "baked" product. Since its release, much effort has gone into re-writing much of the code and it now seems playable even on "medium" performance pc's when setup options are taken into account. That's what makes OBD such a good gaming investment. It's nicely developed before release and just gets better with incremental software/hardware updates. It's thoroughly enjoyable and engrossing from the very start on many pc configurations. plug_nickel
  12. The guys at SOH's CFS3 forum have released their "CFS3 PTO Rising Sun" beta. It's on the OZx server. The OZx server is being upgraded, so it's currently down. Just installed; the choice of aircraft is outstanding. With P4 coming down the pike along with SF2 Mig Alley, we're no going to have a dynamic pacific war campaign in the future. Flight simming is looking awfully good right now. plug_nickel
  13. 50th Birthday today

You're only 5 decades old. Now...doesn't that make you feel younger? Cheers! plug_nickel
  14. I wrote the Red Cross off in '07 after the Katrina scandals surfaced. plug_nickel
  15. + + + Watching the way the DR1 can "float" and control a potential stall so low to the ground leads me to believe that the Allies are going to be in for a nasty surprise when they encounter a DR1 doing a flat turn for the first time. OH PLEASE say it's so. plug_nickel
  16. P-4

From the many posts regarding P3, I know for a fact that P4's release is going to cause a whole lot of screaming from all the guys and gals, and not for the same reasons. plug_nickel
  17. SRMZ

I'm hoping someone here that frequents SimRacing Mirror Zone can lend me some assistance. I registered at the site a week ago and even though I never received an email validating my account, I'm able to log-in, but nothing else. I tried re-validation but nothing ever happened. I tried sending an email using Contact Support form, but it come back as undeliverable. I'm not able to access anything on the site; chat, download, email or support. I'm hoping someone might contact an admin on my behalf to see what's necessary to get my account straightened out. There are several files I'd like to download and they are only available at SRMZ. Please pm me if you can help. Thanks for looking. plug_nickel
  18. SRMZ

Well, as a follow up, I've been able to find most of the files I need for GPL except for two. Does anyone have the following tracks for GPL 1967 GT Mod: ...Monza10k w/chicanes ...Sebring67 If I can get these two tracks some where, then to h*ll with SRMZ. plug_nickel
  19. The sentiment is mutual: those roundels add just the right touch of panache to use as targets. plug_nickel
  20. OT....New CFS3 mod released

I understand how you feel. I don't have a Steam (fart) account and will not buy or install any game/sim that requires it. That level of "plug & play" is to intrusive to me. I'm on the fence right now about reinstalling GT Legends in order to have the Historic GT series. HGT requires verification of the GTL disc with Starforce. Even though Starforce isn't installed, the idea of putting anything into my drive with it is also intrusive. OFF evolved into an extraordinary "commercial" endeavor from a CFS3 mod and "morphed" into something truly great. The install was straight forward and painless. Other mods that require batch changes, .dll placements, etc, are worth it to me only because of the nature of the mod and its developers. I've flown, fly several mods that will probably never be available on a cd/dvd and if I had chosen to wait for that possibility, I would have missed out on a lot of enjoyment. Just my nickels worth. plug_nickel
  21. OT....New CFS3 mod released

Good question. The answer is yes and no. No...the install doesn't do anything to OFF directories or formatting. Yes...when flying PTO_RS, you won't be flying OFF. plug_nickel
  22. OT....New CFS3 mod released

CFS3 needs to be installed and patched up to 3.1a, and needs cd_1 or an iso in a virtual drive to run. I don't know about the dvd. CFS3 can be uninstalled after PTO_RS is functional. There's a very specific install procedure that MUST be followed. The "How to..." instructions are very well written; however, read them a couple of times thoroughly. I screwed around with the install several different ways to no avail; follow the instructions to the letter. There is one shortcut that saves some time, but only if you want the sim in an other location on a hd. If anyone wants it, I'll post it. plug_nickel
  23. Thoroughly OT! But please help

Check and see if MS is still offering student discounts on software. They were, at least for awhile, offering some very steep discounts on o.s.'s and office programs. As to offering hardware advice, I'm form the "old school" of value: if it's already paid for, first see if it (pc case, psu, etc.) can work properly with newer hardware before simply replacing it. plug_nickel
  24. Are those "two weeks" calendar days or work days? Just another obsession... plug_nickel
