New F-102A Cockpit was uploaded
ordway replied to ordway's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Version V.4 is now uploaded and probably my final one. I added the huge signature red/orange Nav light in the middle of the F-102 panel. I made the artificial horizon more F-102A color and markings specific. I made the radio nav instrument more F-102A color and markings specific. Enjoy! -

I am adding an AC voltmeter and master warning test and reset switch which some photos show and secondly more detail to the warning light panel. These changes are in version 3 (the V3 edition). These should be up tomorrow. This version is now available for download. -
F-102A Delta Dagger Cockpit (Field Modified) V.5
ordway replied to ordway's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
I just added some more items to version 3 of the F-102 cockpit by adding an AC voltmeter, a test reset switch and added more details to the warning panel switch all in the lower right-hand section of the cockpit. Why so many versions?...I never originally intended this for public release about a year ago, but instead for my own "interim" F-102A I had built (minus the exterior model just using the F-106 exterior model). Slowly, the cockpit and aircraft grew in detail and accuracy over the months, as things do, and then was publicly needed with Veltro's beautiful F-102A release. So out it came. -

F-102A Fast Bleed flight model V.3
ordway posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
File Name: F-102A Fast Bleed flight model V.3 File Submitter: ordway File Submitted: 15 Apr 2009 File Updated: 19 Apr 2009 File Category: Ini Edits This is an alternate flight model I developed about a year before the F-102A Delta Dagger was released by Veltro2K. It is based on Pasko's F-106 flight model, but modified in deliberate ways. I used Mirage 3 flight models as a guide as well as it is underpowered and has that huge hanging delta. After I finished, I stop watch timed its climb compared to the F-106, and it matched the specs very closely if I remember right. I added more drag as well because of the more forward air inlets and other drag producing features. I played with the engine thrust until the climbing numbers worked out. Although a beautiful flying airplane, it bleeds off speed much faster than the F-106 (and the standard released F-102A) in high G situations due to less engine power and more drag. It also climbs much slower, but still not bad compared to contemporaires. However, It really is not a dogfighter as some would claim the later more powerful and more refined F-106 was. I have dogfighted this flight model against all types of early Migs to the Mig-21. If you keep fast and boom and zoom with its incredible radar system, you can equal the Mig-21 and sometimes kill one. Thanks to Pasko for his incredible F-106 flight model. V.3 changes. The drop tanks are now droppable. Thanks Lexx_Luthor. It was Pasko's F-106 flight model not Dave's that I based the F-102 on. Thanks Dave. The pilot in the extenal view in now in the cockpit which some people had problems with depending on how much had been added. Instructions: 1-Backup your files! (This time I really mean it...you may not like the flight model!) 2- Unzip the contents of the F-102 flight model folder to ...\SFP1\Objects\Aircraft\F-102A\. 3-When prompted, overwrite the files. Enjoy! Click here to download this file -

The F-102 cockpit is back up for download in the jet cockpits section. You just dump the files contents into your F-102 folder and say yes to "do you want to overwrite files" questions. Remember to back up first. Link: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=8719 -
F-102A Fast Bleed flight model V.3
ordway replied to ordway's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
I uploaded the dedicated F-102 Cockpit again this morning Wednesday, April 15. In the new version, I added credit to Pasko instead of Dave (my goof) and added the ability to slightly see the wingtips from the cockpit (thanks to Lexx_Luthor). Otherwise it is the same. I do not know why it is not up yet. -
F-102A Delta Dagger Cockpit (Field Modified) V.5
ordway replied to ordway's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
I fixed it and rereleased it and uploaded a second time this morning (Wednesday 15). I don't know why it is not up yet. However, there is almost no difference between the first version and second versions except giving credit to Pasko instead of Dave (my goof) and now you can just see the wingtips from the cockpit (thanks to Lexx_luthor) where you couldn't before. -

Here is a side by side, errr top to bottom, comparison of the released ordway F-102A cockpit and Pasko's beautiful F-106 cockpit. One looks like a space shuttle and the other like....a 1950s cockpit. -

These issues are now resolved and uploaded in V.2 for both the F-102 flight model and cockpit. Thanks to Lexx_Luthor and Dave. -

If you want to add realism to your game, I find that using models is a really great enhancement. It makes the game come alive for me so that I can compare a Yak to a FW-190, Bf-109, etc. especially in this large scale. This is the first-ever Yak-1 in the large 1/32nd scale that I have seen and I have waited my whole life for one in this huge scale. Use your search engine if interested. Supporting them will hopefully mean more versions coming out in the future.

I know it sounds stupid, but it was in the news quite a bit a while back (1999)...it might also be coincidental. However, one Pensacola cadet apparently did extremely well by mocking up Pensacola, and the T-34 in off-the-shelf M$ Flightsim 98 before doing primary flight. Apparently, he was so succussful, if true, that the Navy copied his basic program. ie. You might want to look into M$ simulator for pretraining. He had a stick, throttle, rudder pedals as well. The original articles in newspapers are long-since erased but some follow-ups still remain. http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qa38...907/ai_n8858226 http://www.baseops.net/flightsimulators/ http://archives.cnn.com/2000/TECH/computin....idg/index.html http://www.openp2p.com/pub/a/p2p/2001/08/2...war.html?page=3

I am an ERAU grad. I was highly impressed with the education...it wasn't "ivory tower" crap but real-world oriented. I've been out since about 1990. ERAU grads keep getting mentioned time and again in my life. I highly recommend it for an aviation career. They were good about having links to jobs as well. I worked my ass off though while there...but it was worth it....but expensive. But yeah, you need to consider if the money is worth it. You don't want to be in debt until you are 40. Talk to a community college advisor first to try to get a sense of what you can do. But, I really loved it and don't regret it at all. I praise you for asking questions like this when you are young.

It is already there. It is called the Corsair 1. You can download US skins for it. -

Hmmm, so Kevin, I'm confused. Is there a place to download the F-80 pit? I seemed to hear "yesses" and "noes" all over the message?!!! Thanks, Richard "Pitts2A" Ordway -

I also buy extra copies to help out...as you said there are so few flight sims any more being produced. Remember, the art patrons of the 1700s-1800s which allowed timeless works of art to be produced. -

WOE:BC Berlin Crisis
ordway replied to KingAlbert's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
"Since this is my first campaign any feedback is more then welcome." Berlin crisis is a great idea! But the information given so far does not make me want to download it. Most modders include in the download description what the plot (story) is and when it is taking place...is it in the 1970's-1980s or 1990s. Please just edit your description and provide the plot and the time it is occuring. Thanks for your hard work.
