1. Yes, I have been mulling it. Right now I am trying to work on the terrain for it to fly over! I know (or think) that TK is working on a Mirage F1CZ...so I don't want to spoil his thunder...however, I don't think he is working on a Mirage F1AZ (radically different cockpit than the CZ fighter version).
2. SAAF Dassault Mirage F1 ( Mirage F1CZ) (No. 213, 3rd squadron) green and brown camo skin almost ready (SFP1). This is a skin of the 1980s SAAF (South African Air Force) Major Johan Rankin at the time of his two confirmed Angolan Mig-21 kills (probably Mig-21MFs). According to the website ACIG, he may have had more kills (http://www.acig.org/...ticle_193.shtml). Generally, the SAAF Mirage F1s had three months of front line duty before being rotated back south (SAAF fighter pilot Dick Lord in the book Vlamgat). The aircraft were generally kept very clean (although sometimes they were mortared on the ground and suffered AAA damage while in the air- not to mention being exposed to the harsh tropical sun and blowing sand). The green and brown camo was the standard SAAF Mirage F1CZ camo for most of the bush war. It often had a distinct yellowish/orange hue. 4. Here is a screenshot of the basically finished SAAF Mirage F1AZ ground attack fighter with its working laser range finder/designator under the nose and includes its skin. Reportedly, they were as accurate as F-16s in the dumb bomb drop mode. It also reportedly had dogfights with Angolan (Cuban) Mig-23MLs. It also intercepted a Mig-17. It is for SFP1 The mostly finished SAAF Mirage F1AZ ground attack fighters cockpit based on the Mirage Factory's superb Jaguar cockpit. It has the equivalent of a CCIP. The SAAF basically designed this cockpit. It had a moving map and a laser that made its bombing incredibly accurate with dumb bombs. Just for kicks, here is a screenshot of an updated hires SAAF Mirage F1CZ fighter cockpit based on Foxmonters great Dassault Super Etendard cockpit. I'm going to Burning Man and then to buying conferences, so these will be on hold for at least a month.

6. File Name: Mirage F1-200 cockpit (SAAF modified) File Submitter: ordway File Submitted: 16 Feb 2008 File Updated: 14 Sep 2009 File Category: Jet Cockpits Mirage F1-200 Cockpit (SAAF Modified). Reworked Pit from Foxmonter's nice Super Etendard. The SAAF Mirage F1s had up to thirteen reported air victories during the bushwars (ACIG). It includes new cockpit placards, seat bitmaps, buttons, switches, gauge colors, a new ADI and the F.1 avionics. Instructions: Backup your files! 1. Copy all the contents from the appropriate folder into the Mirage F1-200 aircraft folder usually at C:Program FilesThirdWireStrikeFightersObjectsAircraftmirage F1-200 (or wherever your F1-200 is located). When asked, overwrite files and folders. Being South African, the locations of many cockpit items are different from a standard Mirage F1. They did not have spare parts, after all, due to the embargo. With the gracious permission of; Foxmonter. Thanks to Mirage Factory for gunsight placard and portions of the F-1 seat. Mig Fighter SAAF Mirage F1AZ hyper-accurate Fighter/Bomber (SAAF Modified) SFP1 DESCRIPTION: This download includes a complete SAAF Mirage F1AZ fighter/bomber aircraft based on the Mirage Factory's stunning Mirage F1.- including the aircraft: 1. SAAF Bush war weapons, 2. Bush war sand/green Mirage F1AZ skin of No. 1 squadron No. 229 3. Nigel's later Bush war grey ghost skin, 4. SAAF two external tank skins of sand/green camo skin and aluminum 5. A dedicated Mirage F1CZ cockpit (the F1AZ and F1CZ have radically different cockpits befitting their dedicated roles and from reality). It has been continually modified over time as newer equipment came in and older equipment broke down and needed to be replaced. This was the SAAF's major fighter/bomber in the Angolan Bush War ("border war") in the mid 1980s against Mig-21s and Mig-23s. The SAAF Mirage F1AZs fought numerous dogfights and at least damaged two Migs (but might have killed some). Rumors persist of other possible air-air victories much deeper into the politically sensive Angolan territory. http://www.acig.org/...ticle_193.shtml -------------------------------------------------------------------- INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS: Update to the latest version of WOE...or just download a new WOE version and update it to the newest version. Make sure you have the recent weapons pack downloaded such as Weapons Pack 2.52 named from 2%2e52 combat ace located at http://combatace.com/files/file/7791-weapons-pack-252-by-the-wosfp1-community/ if not download the weapons pack, make a folder named "weapons" in SPF1/Objects/ and add the contents od Weapons Pack 2.52 to it. 1) Copy and paste the RP35 and RP35a SAAF camo and aluminum external fuel tank skins (which is in the folders) into the SFP1/Objects/Weapons folder...overwrite when asked...you can always go back to the original Pave Penny Pod color by using the original "HTS PODS" folder included in this folder in this folder. Almost all of the SAAF weapons are named "Bushwar" in some way in the loading screen. 2) Copy and paste the "HTS-POD" (which is in this download folder) into the SFP1/Objects/Weapons folder...overwrite when asked...you can always go back to the original pod color by using the original HTS POD folder included in this download. 3) Copy the contents of the weapons.ini file in this folder and paste (many were indigenously made in South Africa) in sequential order at the end of your weapons.ini in SFP1/objects/weapons. 4) Replace each XXXX with the next number sequentially. IE. if the last number in your weapons.ini before adding the below weapons was [WeaponData1652] then make the next number [WeaponData1653]. 5) With the weapons editor open up the weapons.ini and open the last weapon and save. 10. http://combatace.com/topic/27540-mig-15bis-cockpit/ I understand the Ruskies grabbed some shot down US aircraft during the Korean War and copied the US star shaped lead computing gunsight. (Book A Mig-15 to Freedom Kum-sok ). Some earlier ones apparently also had the copied British round gunsight. Cheers
11. Very nice drawing the drawing above is I think, of a later Az with the RWR in the round format in the upper right section. I could add that round RWR, however I think it is a later addtion than most if not all Bush War Azs had. I am going by Dick Lord's descriptions. However, I might be wrong.
12. Mako69's advice is pretty good. However, I have had sucess in using the F-102 by using the hi Yo Yo against Mig-17s and Mig-21s like the Israelis did in their underpowered Mirage III deltas during their wars (They called it the "stitch"). Basically, you conserve energy and outturn him in the vertical. Always keep your speed high. At the merge, get as close head on to the Mig as you can. Just before the merge pull up (not too hard) into a climbing turn in his direction of turn. As he is turning horizontally, you can literally cut across his turn. Dive back down to his level and and repeat the climbing turn in the same direction. Eventually, you will be able to come into his rear quadrant from below. He will panic and turn harder until he is out of speed. Then he is a sitting duck. A second alternative is the "rope a dope". Being a Mig, they will bleed off energy pretty badly in a turn. So at the merge, again get as close to him as possible. Start a gentle early turn but maintain your speed. Let him do a hard speed-bleeding turn behind you. Keep enough speed to do a loop. By the time he has come almost to within firing range, you can now zoomclimb into the Sun. to behind you in a turn, you go vertically up enough to keep his nose away from you into the Sun. He should run out of speed and stall and his nose will fall. You are maneuverable down to almost zero airspeed in the F-102. So now you can come down and zap him. A third alternnative is to try to do a turn at above 450-500 knots and keeping your speed at this amount. Often Mig's don't turn well at these speeds due to heavy controls and you will slowly out turn him
13. Okay, I finished the skin after a month and a half. It was a real bugger as the meshes began and ended all over the place. I might include it with a complete SAAF Mirage F-1CZ as the mods make it almost a new aircraft compared to the other Mirage factory Mirage F1 versions. SAAF Mirage F1CZ skin.
14. Okay, for the SAAF Mirage F1CZ, I got the leaping gazelle insignia sorted out and fixed and the "NO STEP" and "BLY AF" added.
15. Yes, on the skin. It is creeping along and quite a feat to do due to the meshes which appear and dissapear almost seemingly at random...but this is not a put down of the makers...they did a good job...it just takes extreme trial and error on my part to get the areas to meet. You almost have to work backwards/upside down in a mirror and guess the starting and ending points. The SAAF skin (Rankins), I'm doing, is of the original orangish-tanish/ dark green variety with one Angolan kill marking.
16. Late WW2 Cockpit 3 (A-36 stand-in)

Very nice! I use this cockpit for an AT-6 Texan too.
17. SFP1 J-35 Draken cockpit candidates WIP based on Gepard's F4E Draklen cockpit. The Draken had the radar high up on the instrument panel, not buried down between the pilot's knees. As Gepard points out, the F4E has this feature. I am also working a bit on refining the flight model, particularily the roll characteristics based from a computer flight model made with actuall Draken pilots imput. Actual late model Draken cockpit with tape instruments. Saab J35J candiate Mid to late series Saab Draken cockpit
18. Here is a flight model which was reportedly made with the help of actual former Swedish Saab Draken pilots. It is for Microsoft FS 2004. http://flightsim.bookmark.se/ For roll characteristics, it shows that the Draken was limited to only about a 90 deg/ second roll rate in almost all flight regimes (a very slow roll rate). It could roll much faster, but limitations meant that it was not faster in actual flight. Basically, if I understand it right, if you rolled faster, it would be fatal to your mission as your external stores would be "jettisoned" as well as perhaps other damage resulting to the airframe could result. This is represented in the FS 2004 flight model which I downloaded and flew. The Draken would only roll about 90 degress per second in the FS 2004 model and apparently, this is what the actual Draken pilots approved of as the most realistic for a PC flight simulator. BTW, the bookmark Draken's cockpit is outstanding in my opinion...almost more realistic than photos.
19. Yes, that is a good idea. I will try.
20. The second instruments are messy. I am trying to find them in the mesh...however, so far it seems to be "both or nothing." as they are both attached together, I think. I'll keep working on it. I am making fast progress on the seemingly infinite versions' cockpits...the Finnish seem to have at least three separate major versions with and without radar. I have added placards to the crash pad in front of the non- radar version which meant working upside down, inside out and with mirror images on a mesh within a mesh.
21. Good idea. Any takers? Perhaps Derk is already working on this?
22. Hi Derk, If you look at this you tube saab cockpit (simulator) in flight, the two front window frames are extremely prominent to the pilot while in flight and definitely are part of the front view that a pilot has to deal with. http://wn.com/Saab_J35_Draken The movie's title is "Saab j35 simulator" 0:49 seconds playing time I'll probably include both versions with and without frames.
23. This F4B cockpit is a little better without the frames....but still compared to the actual one below.... But the frames are still there in a real J35 Draken. Another F4B
