A little political humor: How do you tell the difference between Democrats, Republicans, and Southerners? Answer: Pose the following question: You're walking down a deserted street with your wife and two small children. Suddenly, a dangerous looking man with a wild look in his eyes; and a huge knife in his hand comes around the corner, locks eyes with you, screams obscenities, raises the knife, and charges. You are carrying a Glock, and you are an expert shot. You have mere seconds before he reaches you and your family. What do you do? Democrat Answer: Well, that's not enough information to answer the question! Does the man look poor or oppressed? Have I ever done anything to him that would inspire him to attack? Could we run away? What does my wife think? What about the kids? Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock the knife out of his hand? What does the law say about this situation? What would the ACLU say? Does the Glock have appropriate safety built into it? Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway, and what kind of message does this send to society and to my children? Is it possible he'd be happy with just killing me? Does he definitely want to kill me, or would he be content just to wound me? If I were to grab his knees and hold on, could my family get away while he was stabbing me? Should I call 9-1-1? Why is this street so deserted? We need to raise taxes, have a paint and weed day and make this a happier, healthier street that would discourage such behavior. Republican Answer: BANG! Southerner's Answer: BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! click....(sounds of reloading). BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! click. Daughter: "Nice grouping, Daddy! Were those the Winchester Silver Tips or Black Talon Hollow Points?? Heh, heh, heh,.... Navy Chief

A fat pay check? Hey Dagger, Beer, Firehawkordy, and all you vets......have I missed something here? He must be referring to another country. As for being trailer trash? I won't even dignify that with a response. However, you may assume I am thinking some profane thoughts. Navy Chief

I know I will catch heat for initiating this, as political posts always elicit emotional responses. My problem is, I read and see such antics by Kerry, and I can't help but comment on them. It scares me to realize that so many folks are planning to vote for Kerry (not based on his abilities), but rather because of extreme hatred for President Bush. Navy Chief

Yes, I definitely applaud those Marines for their professional posture. Me? I am not so certain that I would have been able to keep my mouth shut. Navy Chief

My wife's girlfriend and her boyfriend came over to our place for a cookout this afternoon. Not impressed, to say the least. To begin with, he made a point of stating that he thought flight sims were a waste of time. He said this just as I was firing up the computer to show him what I spend so much time with. After demonstrating FS9 for him, including a cat shot with a F-14B, he mentioned that he had been a Electronics Warfare Operator on B-52s, and knew quite a lot about military aviation. In short, I got the impression that he liked himself A LOT, and made it known. Most commissioned officers I have met have been regular folks, but occasionally I run into those who have a definite superiority attitude. This guy fits the latter description. What a bozo. Enough ranting for now. See you in the virtual skies, shipmates. Navy Chief

Yeah, you're right Scout about the memories. Sure is easy to recall the good times, like liberty; but I sure do remember what you mentioned. Whew! When ADM Jerry O. Tuttle was onboard, the Ordies KNEW they were in for a rough time. Short-statured, short-tempered, and feisty as heck. I remember they called the bomb loading exercises he would order - "TUTTLE-EXs". All the squadron Ordies were kept humpin' when Tuttle was onboard, that was for certain. Tuttle went on to become a VADM before he retired. Navy Chief

I agree completely. I really liked the picture taken in Subic Bay, on the "Connie". I was never in the Philipines, but definitely heard a LOT of sea stories about it. All of my deployments were Med cruises. East Coast sailor. Navy Chief

Some of my carrier landings
navychief replied to Nick Tselepides's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator
Hey Nick, You have got to be the most organized, meticulous man I know, when it comes to flight simming. Your records are amazing! I fly often, but don't think I could ever become that regulated, where I could maintain records of my flights, landings, etc. Heck, my wife complains enough as it is!!!!! In her mind, my computer is "the other woman"!! Navy Chief -
OMG!! Creepy that joke was great!!!! I am going to remember that one! Navy Chief

Hey Nick, Thanks for the shout! I am doing fine, and am getting better at traps. Seems like the trick to good traps is the approach. I try to give myself enough distance to get lined up and then make my descent gradual and steady. For me, at least, the Prowler is the easiest to control; although I have flown others too. The Tracker is another good one. Today I downloaded another payware (RealCRT Gauges). Not too expensive at $19, and very nice gauges. Only a few panels use them, and all commercial; but I like them. http://perso.wanadoo.fr/tony.dambrosio/ Pete

The following is a letter written by Charlie Daniels. It is from his website at: http://www.charliedaniels.com/soapbox/04/037.html Prisoners I would never mistreat one of my horses, one of my cows nor my dog or cat, much less mistreat another human being. Therefore I am just as shocked and outraged about the treatment of the prisoners in Iraq as anybody is. I think, no I know, it’s deplorable and the people responsible should be sought out and punished. Now having said that let me say this. This thing has been blown so far out of proportion it’s a wonder it doesn’t explode. I was in Germany during the high point of the controversy and about the only English speaking channels I could get were BBC and CNN. Well take the anti-American position of CNN America and multiply it by ten, and then you’ve got CNN International. If the BBC represented, which it doesn’t, the opinions of the majority of the British people we would have to consider England an enemy. It is so blatantly anti-American. They spent hours and hours on the Iraqi prisoner abuses. You would think that it was the only thing happening in the world. I heard one woman anchor ask, “Will the Americans ever be able to take the moral high ground again?” That’s not only stupid, it’s insulting and asinine. A handful of people out of a population of two hundred and sixty million plus go rogues and this ignorant wench condemns the whole nation? Should we condemn the whole of the British Isles because of Kim Philby, the English traitor who helped give Russia our nuclear secrets? I dare say his actions caused ten million times the pain and anguish than those of a few outlaw American soldiers. Where were you BBC and CNN when our American citizens were hung from a bridge and set on fire in Iraq? Where were you when Idi Amin was dragging our dead soldier around the dusty streets of Somalia? Did you devote hour after hour of coverage condemning the monsters? Did you continue to show the awful images almost non-stop and call in puffed up, so called experts to tell us just how bad the events were. Hell no you didn’t. And you Ted Kennedy, you supercilious old gas bag, how dare you compare the acts of a few soldiers to the murderous regime of Saddam Hussein. Senator, in case you hadn’t noticed no one died here. In fact your car has killed more people than these misguided soldiers did. (YOU GO, CHARLIE!!....sorry, I couldn't help it.....Navy Chief) We have 130,000 military personnel in Iraq. How many were involved in this atrocity? 10? 20? 30? And yet to listen to Kennedy and his ilk, or the major media you would think that they were all involved. Let’s look at this thing for what it is. An isolated incident which does not in any way, shape or form represent the character of the fine young men and women who serve in our Armed Forces. This is the third time Senator Kennedy, but I’ll extend the invitation again. How about you, me and a camera crew hopping on a plane and going over to Iraq and Afghanistan and talk to the men and women who are fighting the war, so you can get a little attitude adjustment? Or had you rather continue to be blinded to reality by your hatred of our Commander and Chief? Check your calendar, we’re trying to put a trip together for November. Pray for our troops. What do you think? God Bless America Charlie Daniels

The pet rescue that my wife and I volunteer for just acquired this character yesterday. His name is "Flash", and has a personality to match! My wife took this picture of Flash today, and placed it, along with a description of Flash, on the rescue group's website. I am sure he'll be adopted very fast, but I wanted to share this picture she took of him. Notice the string of slobber flying in the air? Reminiscent of the movie "Turner and Hooch", with Tom Hanks, and a French Mastiff named "Hooch", who slobbers continuously throughout the movie. Navy Chief

A few months ago, someone posted a message about Abacus working on a revision to FD3 that would allow the user to relocate aircraft carriers in FS9. The following is a reply I received from Abacus support today: We'd love to be able to do that but it's far from an easy thing to do. There are multiple files that make up an aircraft carrier and they all have to be positioned exactly for it to work - moving BGL file locations would involve essentially hacking into the files and altering the position coordinates for all the files and hoping they would re-assemble together like the original to work - which is unlikely. We are looking at the possibility of creating the carriers in a user-specified location though... Regards, Adam Howe Abacus Software

http://www.x-plane.com/ an intense sim. I never could get it to work online, though. Navy chief

Yes, it will stop the logging, but the error msg will go away. NC

Ghostdog, I think I found the solution. Start your Flight Sim, go to Settings, then General..... Deslect Log Flight Time. That fixed it for me. Hope this does the same for you. Navy Chief

That is hilarious! Fair and balanced parody. I love it! NC

They should be glad they aren't in an IRAQI prison. I am certain that their treatment would be MUCH worse there. NC

Good luck, Nesher! Navy Chief

Ghostdog Bad news. Although I did find reference to this problem in a couple forums, I was not able to find a answer to it. Grrrrr........... NC

Ghostdog, I have the exactly the same problem that you do. I will do some searching for a solution. I'll let you know how successful I am. NC

Maybe thats my problem, Dagger, ....I rarely go out in the sun! I'm one of those types who prefers airconditioning to the sweltering Georgia summers. Kind of strange, though, as I wasn't raised in a house with aircond. in Indianapolis. But I won't live without it now, that's for sure. Country music is something I never acquired a taste for. Oh, there's some artists that I occasionally like to listen to, but overall...I much prefer pop, rock, and jazz. NC
