Welcome back, MJ. Hope things are slowing down for you a little. Me? I am sorta backing off from the sim playing a little for a while. Need to get back into some regular exercise. Retirement is great, but too much sitting in front of this computer is taking a toll on me. Navy Chief

We had better be concerned about North Korea. Any country that defies previously agreed to treaties, and builds nuclear weapons - is a country not to ignore, period. As for our country's "Cowboy image", as Snapple put it; well, it surely seems that other countries are paying attention to us now. Look at Libya. Quite a turnaround, if you ask me. NC

I agree Seawolf. Any problems with our economy will pale in comparison to what will happen to us if our country's security is compromised. Don't you agree? Navy Chief

Not a good sign, I would say. One has to figure he might do something similar with the US economy. Or worse. NC

Me too, Firehawkordy. I read that Kerry's campaign raked in a bundle of money from Internet donations. That, of course, prompted me to donate to Bush's campaign - immediately. NC

At age 50, I have decided that I am not going to go through another move. I agree with you about all the hassles that are involved with moving. No more. Not for me. My wife and I plan to improve what we have and stay put. Georgia isn't exactly my favorite place to live, but I been in worse locations. Navy Chief

Thanks Jinks, I'll check it out!! Navy Chief -
As a veteran of the Vietnam Era, I thought this picture and article might arouse the ire of some of you who lived through that time. Senator Kerry's military record is to be commended, but his actions afterward are not (in my opinion) indicative of someone who deserves to be our Commander In Chief. The following article is from the Rush Limbaugh website: A photo seemingly showing Democratic presidential front-runner John Kerry protesting the Vietnam War with anti-American actress "Hanoi Jane" Fonda - the photo Dems fear most - exists, and has been obtained by NewsMax.com. On Labor Day weekend 1970, Kerry - then a rising star with Vietnam Veteran Against the War - teamed up with Fonda as the two headlined an ugly anti-war in rally in Valley Forge, Pa., railing against U.S. policy in Southeast Asia from the back of the same flatbed truck. The photo shows "Hanoi Jane" listening raptly as speakers denounced American soldiers for committing "genocide" in Vietnam and accusing the U.S. of "international racism." Three rows behind 'Hanoi Jane" sits a man who bears a striking resemblance to the Democratic presidential front-runner. According to Corbis Images, which owns the image, the photo was taken at the same 1970 Valley Forge protest that turned Sen. Kerry into an anti-war star. Douglas Brinkley's biography "Tour of Duty" chronicles Kerry's exploits at Valley Forge, where he reportedly followed Fonda onto the back of that pick-up truck to deliver his own diatribe against the war in Vietnam. "We are here because we above all others have earned the right to criticize the war on Southeast Asia," Kerry shouted into the microphone, as Fonda and the crowd cheered wildly. "By the time [Kerry] hopped off that pick-up truck to thunderous applause," writes Brinkley, "he was the new leader of the VVAW by popular default." The Massachusetts Democrat's speech also cemented his alliance with Fonda, and the two traveled to Detroit to organize a January 1971 event they called the "Winter Soldier Investigation." At a Detroit motel, Kerry and Fonda assembled a myriad of disgruntled witnesses claiming to be Vietnam vets, each with his own story of American atrocities. According to Jug Burkett, whose landmark Vietnam war history "Stolen Valor" chronicles some of Kerry's anti-war misadventures, Fonda played a key role at the Detroit event. "There's no doubt that Jane Fonda financed the Winter Soldier hearings," Burkett told NewsMax on Monday. He said that several of the witnesses who testified at the protest's "hearings" later turned out to be complete impostors. The event prompted "Hanoi Jane" to "adopt" Kerry's group "as her leading cause," writes Brinkley. It was at Kerry's Winter Soldier protest that the anti-American actress met her future husband, Students for a Democratic Society radical Tom Hayden. The next year Fonda was off to Hanoi, where she mounted an anti-aircraft battery and pretended to shoot down American pilots. Of Kerry, Burkett told NewsMax, "Any Vietnam veteran who knows what Kerry did after he came home from Vietnam is definitely not a fan of John Kerry." Navy Chief

Hey Seawolf Yep, I am concerned about 2008 too. My wife and I have been looking at other places to live, should the "unthinkable" actually happen. I have a feeling that a lot of folks will consider moving from the US if Hillary is (God forbid) elected as President. This country would be ruined. Navy Chief

Hey Seawolf I watch The Factor too. Great program, and I find Bill O'reilly's analysis refreshing after years and years of Liberal news reporting. NC

Hey FooFighter If my Social Security "investment" is taken away from me, I would not be surprised. After all, the government steals over a third of my income in taxes every year. It's interesting how much we are conditioned to believe that the money the government steals is not ours. One looks at a paycheck, and simply accepts the meager amount we are "allowed" to keep for ourselves. Taxes = Legalized Theft Navy Chief

Have had those days myself, Snapple. Plenty of them. By the way, are you still planning on going for a commission in the Navy? NC

Hey Snapple Goodness, Snapple! Such anger! "now shut your pie hole and go vote if you've got something to say." I didn't realize I was causing such an uproar, that I am not able to voice an opinion here in the Pub? Say what you will. Kerry's voting record does not speak well of him when it comes to our defense. As far as taxes are concerned, I am tired of being admonished for wanting to keep as much of what I earned for my own welfare. The government did not earn it. I did. Taxes? I agree with the necessity of taxation, but NOT for creating programs which do nothing but provide handouts. In other words, a redistribution of wealth from those who earned it to those who want a free ride. No, I don't believe that all taxes should be abolished. But wouldn't most people agree that the tax percentage is WAY too high? There is so much wasteful government spending by BOTH parties. NC

Foofighter If Kerry, or any other Democrat for that matter, is elected, he will repeal Bush's tax cuts, and then raise taxes. It is a given. I rebel at the thought of the US Govt. taking more of my income. They already take WAY too much, PERIOD. As far as Social Security is concerned, I am not even counting on receiving any when I am of age to do so. I have made provisions of my own, so I am taking care of myself. I am NOT counting on the govt. to take care of me. As for my voting for Bush? Yes, I will do just that, and proudly. Kerry will reduce our military's strength even more than it already is. Isn't the security of this country important to you? Social Security, and other govt. programs will not seem so important if the terrorists are allowed to penetrate this country and attack us. Such attacks can happen, no matter who the president is; but I feel a lot more secure with Bush in charge. Navy Chief.

Hey Beer! I was just wondering how your next music video is progressing? Your first one was great, and I am looking forward to the second one! Hope all is well with you, shipmate. Navy Chief

A BIG ROGER on that one, Seawolf. Bush will get my vote, definitely. Navy Chief

No matter how one tries to justify Kerry becoming President, if he gets into the White House we can expect three things for certain: 1) Our military will be reduced in strength even more that it presently is. 2) Our country's defense will be in jeapordy. And lastly, 3) Our taxes will get raised AGAIN to fund more social programs (also known as handouts) to redistribute wealth in this country. NC

Great patch, Fates. Jane is lucky Vietnam was never declared an actual war, or she would have been tried for treason. Jane, call home: 1-800-HANOI NC

One thing you all need to consider, is Kerry's idea of turning the control of our military over to the UN when it comes to overseas protection. Big mistake. Fatal mistake, in my opinion. Add to that the fact that he voted against every weapons program since he has been in office, and one has to wonder how safe our country might be if he became president. Doesn't give me a sense of being protected. Does it you? The man is a phony. Navy Chief

Ghost Dog, I am inclined to agree with you. It is almost a sure thing that tempers would flare. I am the one who started this thread, and have posted many others like it in the past. In 1992, when "Comrade Clinton" was elected to office, I became much more aware of my conservative beliefs, and must say that the following eight years of Clinton's "reign" was difficult to go through. His administration reduced our military strength to a new low. Perhaps it is because I was career military that makes me so passionate against liberals. Or maybe it is because that I rebel at the liberal's idea of income redistribution. Politics are such a hot issue in this country. Perhaps it would be best if such discussions would be posted on sites created for that purpose. Navy Chief

Well, this forum, as defined, should suffice for political dialogue. It is for all off-topic discussions. No matter to me. Navy Chief

Kerry has stated that he wants the UN to approve the US deployment of forces overseas. The UN has proven itself a non-entity. It is also corrupt. And we should turn over such decisions to them? And Kerry's position on taxes? Well, like a true liberal, he would repeal Bush's tax cuts, and raise taxes to fund social programs that NEVER work. I bristle at the thought of giving one more penny to the IRS. The IRS is proof that Communism is alive and well in the US. Taxes......another way of saying "Legalized Theft". Navy Chief
