Which Flight Sim Should I Get 1st
navychief replied to firehawkordy's topic in General Flight Sim Discussion
Get FS2004. You won't be sorry. There are already hundreds of free available addons for it: scenery, aircraft, utilities, etc.... You won't be disappointed. Navy Chief -

navychief replied to MadJeff's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator
Anyone online want to fly? Especially carrier ops. Navy CHief It is now 10 pm, Eastern time. -
Hey Snapple, Well, what I was really thinking is, YOU will be my age sooner than you realize! I just turned 50 this past August. And yes, I am proof that rocks do live that long, heh, heh, heh,.... Enjoy your youth. Those times go by all too quickly. Navy Chief

I found out about these scenery addons this evening, thanks to Nick Tselepidis, and immediately downloaded them! They include NAS Roosevelt Roads, NAS Fallon, NAS Lemoore, NAS Oceana, NAS Pensacola, NAS Patuxent River, including arresting cables, and combat training targets. http://home.comcast.net/~cline9084/navfac/Scenery.htm Seriously, these are great addons! The attached graphic is of NAS Key West, flying over Rwy 7, complete with arresting cables, and Fresnel Lens landing lights. Go Navair! Navy Chief

Hey Firehawkordy I once took a C-130 flight from MCAS Iwakuni to Wake Island, to replace their Lox cart. The aircon was virtually non-existent, and the flight took 8 hours! Hot, loud, and slow. But, when I got to Wake, it was worth it. The Marines said they had to go away for 8 days on different stops, and would come back to pick me up. I told them not to be in any hurry! I was given my own vehicle to drive (a tiny pickup, with a canvas top in the back), a barracks room, and a meal pass. Heaven on earth! For a solid week, all I did was swim, fish, drink heavily, bowl (yes, they have a six lane bowling alley on Wake), and scuba dive. In fact, the "Mayor" of Wake Island said I could drink and drive, but not to get too drunk!!! I hope to see Wake Island again, but it was the most beautiful place I had ever seen. Navy Chief

Oh heck no, Firehawkordy. But I surely flew in the C-9s a lot when they took us from NAS Cecil Field to Norfolk, to go onboard the USS Independence; and on numerous dets to Fallon, Roosevelt Roads, NAS Key West, etc... Navy Chief

Expected Loss !!!
navychief replied to Jetson's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
My sincere condolences to you, Jetson. I look forward to corresponding with you again next year, but in the meantime, take care of yourself, and God bless you, and your wife. Navy Chief -
Yep, I realized just after I selected the "Add Reply" button that I meant to say "Views", not "Replies"; but it was too late. Oops. But it was not a mistake, however. CPOs don't make mistakes. We simply make oversights. Heh, heh, heh...... NC

Hey Falcon Good question. Not being able to do that is a real pain in the arse. Having to constantly hit the "s" key, or whatever that function is assigned to, is annoying, to say the least. Do you fly much on MP? Navy Chief

1,113 replies to this thread, and still nothing from Fast Eagle himself. His silence alone says volumes, doesn't it? Go Navy. Launch'em. Navy Chief

What, and accept a demotion? Are you crazy? Navy Chief

I hope he does! Put me in that briar patch; I would be one happy man! I will never understand why retired military cannot be members of the reserves. Even if the pay was reduced, I would join, if allowed. Think about it. So much talent not being used. Navy Chief

Hmmmm........should be self-explanatory, I think! Navy Chief

I only spoke with FE a couple of times. I was a maintainer in the Navy, not a pilot, but he did a good job of giving me the impression he was the real deal. Oh well. Chalk another one up to experience. It is definitely disheartening, to say the least. By the way, I really AM a retired Navy Chief. The picture attached was taken this past week. My wife and I went to NAS Pensacola for a few days, and I donned the khakis to take her to dinner. GO Navy. Navy Chief

Whatever I feel like doing; I am retired. Heh, heh, heh.... Navy Chief

Yep, I am an old fart, and lovin' it! Michael Johnson (sang "Bluer Than Blue") is one of my favorite singers. Also Sanford/Townsend Band ("Smoke From A Distant Fire"). Used to listen to Billy Joel a lot, but his earlier works were better, in my opinion. I like mostly soft pop. Hall and Oates are good too. NC

Hey, I don't care what the kids say about my kind of music. I will keep listening to the Doobies, CSNY, Loggins and Messina, and the Eagles too. Heck, there's times when I listen to Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin also. If I am an old fart for doing so...then so be it!!! Navy Chief

Well, I just returned from a five-day vacation in Pensacola, FL (The Cradle Of Naval Aviation); and yes, I took a lot of digital pictures that I will see about posting soon. Now then, as for the situation with Fast Eagle. Many months ago, I first chatted with FE, and he definitely impressed me. I will admit that I had suspicions about things that he told me concerning his career; but being the trusting person I am, I ignored my instincts to question what he had said. If FE can provide proof of what he says, then great. I don't forsee that happening, however. As was the case with Ranger, I don't understand the need to tell lies. One way or the other, it catches up to you. More later, shipmates. I enjoyed being back in Pensacola. Even put on my dress khakis, and took my wife to the CPO club for dinner. Navy Chief

I recently acquired FS Navigator. It is an excellent addon for FS2K2 and FS9, however, I am not able to get it to connect to the MP server when I am online. It is supposed to connect in the same manner that FS2K2 and FS9 do. I enter the IP of the MP server I am on, and then hit "Search". Nothing happens. I am making sure that the port settings are the same also. Just to check everything, I even tried connecting with the default port, which is different from the default in FS. Still no go. Anyone out there have an answer to this problem? Thanks Navy Chief P.S. FS Navigator is a very powerful program. I highly recommend it, even with the connection probs I am having!!!

Many years ago, when I first saw someone with a "Old Navy" shirt, or sweatshirt; I thought it was referring to someone who had been in the US Navy for a long time. In other words, a lifer like me. When I found out it was just another clothing store chain, I almost felt let down! Thousands of people wearing "Old Navy" gear, and it had nothing to do with the greatest canoe club in the world! Well then, NOW there is finally a online shop that sells "REAL NAVY" gear! Yep, I found it at: http://www.cafeshops.com/realnavy/ Check it out, shipmates! Go Navy! Navy Chief
