Not quite ready to take pictures. But will soon, I hope. Am replacing the windows in my house, so things will be sorta messed up until then. NC

Just an update on things. I did finally get my projector, but the headaches I had to go through with BigOnDigtal were not worth the hassle. Additionally, there are some questionable trade practices going on with that company. I would steer clear of them at all costs. Navy Chief P.S. By the end of this week, I will have a TrackIR3, Vector expansion addon, and the AudioFX Force Feedback Gaming Headset. My wife has been nagging at me for spending too much time on the computer. Heck, once this equipment arrives, she might be sliding food under the door to me, as I am gonna be flyin' a lot more!!!!!!
  3. Now THIS is a cool patch.

I found a picture of this patch, and thought it was cool. Go NAVAIR. Navy Chief
  4. Now THIS is a cool patch.

    That's even better! NC
  5. Now THIS is a cool patch.

Snapple, ..............dude!!!! Whereyabeen???? How's school? I hope to have cable modem service by the end of July/August. Only have dialup right now. But when I finally get broadband again, I plan to get back to online flyin' with SFP1 and WOV. Hopefully we can meet up again, eh? See ya in the wild blue, and good luck with school. NC
  6. Now THIS is a cool patch.

Very true, Scout, and if Patsy Schroeder was still in office, you can be that SHE would raise a stink. She is one of the main reasons for the problems the Navy has now with.....well, I don't dare say it, and it ain't worth starting up an arguement. NC
  7. Projector arrived, finally!!

I did do major organization in the room today. Almost ready to take some pictures. Basically, I am trying to make it a gaming room only, and also turn it into a movie theatre too. Have got a new 7.1 surround sound system enroute. This Chief plans to be turning and burning soon! NC
  8. Projector arrived, finally!!

Hey all. Although I do get an ok picture with some light in the room, it is best with as much darkness as is possible. No problem, as I do much of my gaming at night anyway. NC
  9. Projector arrived, finally!!

I will post pictures soon, but gotta find a place for all the stuff I have in my room. Only so many places to put things, ya know. I do promise to post some though. NC

The projector is a BenQ PB2240. Cost is around $1700. That varies a lot, of course, but don't make the mistake I made in going with the lowest price! It has a rating of 2000 lumens, with a bulb life of 3000 hours, in "economy" mode; which means if I select that, the colors might not be too bright. I will experiment with that, for sure. The bulbs for these things ain't cheap; about 2-300 bucks!! The projector plugs into the computer, in place of the monitor. I will take pictures for certain, if the darn thing ever gets here. 11. Yo, Navy Chief here. If you need me, I'll be at the CPO Club. Where else would I be, eh? Heh, heh..... GO NAVAIR. NC retnavycpo@hotmail.com
  12. Well, I have been waiting for this day since David Brice of DSB Design informed me they were working on a A-7E Corsair for FS9. I am in the process right now of downloading the DSB A-7E now. With my "superfast" dialup connection running at a whopping 2.40 KB per seconds, I fully expect to complete the download transfer by the end of this month, or possibly earlier! I will post again, once I have installed the aircraft, and have made a couple flights in it. Long live the SLUFs! Go NAVAIR! Navy Chief
  13. Payware A-7E by DSB now available.

Yes, DSB's A-7E Corsair is a beauty. They have redone the panel from the first release, and the results are quite nice. The aircraft handles great, and well worth paying for; definitely! My next goal is to redo the NAS Cecil Field, FL base scenery. I am collecting photos and other information to do it. Using various programs for scenery design, I am bound and determined to do this. I will post pictures as I progress, but I have a feeling this project will take some time. I want it done right, as I spend nine years at NAS Cecil Field. It was closed by BRAC in 1999. I want to recreate the base as it was in its "Glory Days" as a Master Jet Base. GO Navy. NC
  14. Ok shipmates. This is something I am more than ready for! This will be a quality rendition of the mighty A-7E Corsair, from DSB Design. David Brice told me about it in an email. I tried to attach a graphic he sent me, but my $%#^@& dialup connection is not cooperating this morning. I swear, if I EVER am able to get cable modem service.....grrrrrrrr. I HATE dialup. To make it even sweeter, the aircraft will be released in my old squadron's colors, ATKRON EIGHT-THREE (VA-83); the world famous "Rampagers". I am honored, to say the least. On a sadder note, my friends, I am flying to Washington DC tomorrow afternoon. I will be attending my uncle Bob Jackson's funeral at Arlington National Cemetery, Friday at 1 pm. Captain Robert O. Jackson, SR., USNR will be honored in full military honors. Yours truly will be in dress blues, and yes, I will take some pictures, to be posted on my return. Keep'em flyin', gents. Go Navair. Navy Chief
  15. DSB A-7E to be released soon!

Hey Dagger, The graphic that posted is, indeed, of the forthcoming DSB A-7E Corsair. It is not from SFP1. The graphic posted, despite my receiving an error msg on my end. Go figure. Dialup......better than nothing. But just. Go Navy. NC
  16. What if the USAF had a carrier?

'Tis been quite a while since I posted anything of, shall we say - controversy? - on this great site. So I thought it was about time. With tongue in cheek, I submit the following artists' conception! What if the United States Air Force had a aircraft carrier? Ha! Go NAVAIR! Navy Chief
  17. LCD and DLP Projectors

I am probably going to buy either a DLP or LCD projector for my gaming computer system. I really want to expand the video for my flight simulation, and from what I have read...this is the way to fly! If any of you have some advice on such things, please let me know. Thanks, Navy Chief retnavycpo@gmail.com
  18. I posted on 14 Dec. 04 about the new P-3C being developed. The URL is: http://flightinfo.ens.ne.jp/FS_KBT/d_y_a.htm I check this site at least once a week, thinking I will be surprised with a download link, but alas, not so. Sure wish I could read Japanese. Perhaps there are indications as to when this beautiful aircraft will become available! Along with that, I am hopeful that Alphasim or DSB Design will produce a quality A-7E Corsair. Those are my wants! CPO departing. Ding, ding. GO NAVAIR! Navy Chief
  19. Anxious for new P-3C

Hey Beer! Thanks for the information, shipmate. I may buy the sim when it is available, but for now I am concentrating on FS9. Looks like it will be close to another year before I can get high-speed modem service again. I guess that's what I get for moving out in the country. But I love it here! Later, NC

  21. My Uncle's US Navy career history.

I thought perhaps you all might be interested in reading this. My Uncle Bob Jackson was my hero. His service to the US Navy was distinguished. Jackson, Robert O. Capt. Robert O. Jackson 86, passed away December 24, 2004. Born in Indianapolis August 19, 1918, Capt. Jackson was an alumnus of Shortridge High School, attended Purdue University, was a member of that school's chapter of Phi Delta Theta fraternity, and a decorated wartime veteran of the United States Navy. With U.S. involvement in the war in Europe at hand, he left Purdue in 1940 to enlist in the Navy, attending midshipman school at Abbott Hall at Northwestern University. As an honor graduate, he assisted in training the next incoming class. His first tour of sea duty, in the North Atlantic, followed. After the December 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor, his destroyer, the USS Mustin, was dispatched to the South Pacific for combat duty. In 1943, he returned to the United States to join the crew of the newly commissioned destroyer USS Sigourney, and returned to the South Pacific theater aboard that ship as a deck officer, seeing more combat action. After hostilities ended, he traveled the oceans around the world to New York City for release from active duty in 1945. Following World War II, Capt. Jackson joined his father's business, Jackson Engineering Co., and later formed his own firm, Jackson Equipment Co. He remained active in the Naval Reserve and was recalled to sea duty from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean conflict, serving aboard the destroyer USS Hunt. During this time, he attained the rank of commander. In his military career, Capt. Jackson earned numerous campaign honors, including the AsiaticPacific with nine battle stars. After Korea, Capt. Jackson returned to his business, while continuing his service to the Navy. At the Naval Armory in Indianapolis, he stayed on active reserve, training recruits and providing other leadership. In 1962, at the request of then-Gov. Matthew E. Welsh, he traveled to Seattle for the decommissioning of the battleship USS Indiana and oversaw the return of key memorabilia to the state, including the ship's wheel and bell. Capt. Jackson, who attained that rank while in the Naval Reserve, was a co-founder of The Army-Navy Service Club. He served as president of the Navy League, the Heslar Naval Armory Board. He was appointed to serve on the State Armory Board by five consecutive governors; a plaque bearing Capt. Jackson's name was mounted at the Heslar Naval Armory in appreciation of this service. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal of Indiana, honored as a Sagamore of the Wabash and in 1998 was named President Emeritus of the Heslar Naval Armory Board. He was also made an honorary member of the U.S. Submarine Fleet, 500 Chapter. He will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery on Feb. 18th. Navy Chief
  22. I have had this sim for a while now, but waited until I got this new computer to reload and use. Loaded ok, but the sim won't let me go past the Training Mission. I completed the Training ok, but when I select New Game, it keeps placing me back in the Training Mission, like it is the only one available. HELP! NC
  23. Medal Odf Honor, Allied Assault sim

As Rosanne would say on SNL....."Nevermind"! I figured it out! NC
  24. I found an interesting site at: http://www.fsdestinations.com/ You can search for downloadable flight plans that folks have tried and recommend. But where do I upload them to in my FS9? Please advise if you know. Thanks. NC
  25. How do I add downloaded Flt plans?

I'll try it, thanks shipmate! Btw, since I am able to fly again (with dialup), lets get together for some flights, eh? NC
