  2. Ok, MJ, I need help here. I have tried resizing the two VA-15 pics I want to post, every which way but Sunday, and no joy. What the f......!? It won't accept them, regardless of size. Am I doing something wrong? NC
  3. There is a resemblence

A few months back, I posted some pictures of an Iraqi leader who looked remarkably like Larry Tate from the Bewitched TV series. Well, once again, I have uncovered another reincarnation. The Palestinian Spokeswoman, Hanan Ashrawi is actually the reincarnation of Bela Lugosi! It's true! navychief
  4. Well, it has been hot as usual here in Georgia. Honestly, the ONLY reason I am even living in this state, is because my former wife lived here. Now I am remarried to another woman from GA. Looks like I am doomed to stay here. I am a Yankee, originally, and this heat is killer. When I retired from the Navy, I was in Washington State (God's Country). If I ever get the financial wherewithall to move back there, it will happen. Well, I gotta go pay Sept. tax quarterilies. Now THAT is enough to ruin my whole day; having to write checks to someone (Uncle Sam, and the state Revenue offices) for money they did NOT earn. Taxes.......in other words......LEGALIZED THEFT. 5. Galen Thurber up to his old tricks...

So now I am a "thug"? Gee, my wife has called me lots of things; but I haven't "graduated" to that level yet. Guess I will have to try harder, eh? Heh, heh.... Navychief
  6. Citadel Hell

I agree with PCPilot. What worked for me, was keeping a low profile. Definitely keep your mouth shut, and follow orders to the letter. If you buck the system, you will NOT win, so don't even attempt it. Thousands have gone before you, and have experienced the exact frustrations you are going through. Someone once said that "youth is wasted on the young". Oh, if only I could have had the maturity to realize certain things, I would have gone so much farther in life, and would have made different choices. The SMARTEST thing I ever did was to go into the Navy. The dumbest things I have done was to ever get married!!!! Navychief
  7. Not impressed with Navyair.com

Well, perhaps my first impressions are wrong, but I am not impressed with the folks at Navyair.com. I really thought I had found a neat place for Navy Air type flight sim activities. Wrong. I posted a message on their board, expressing interest in their group. They fly CFS, and FS2004. Not only did they not respond to my post, they deleted it. Guess I am not good enough for them, eh? Well, nuts to them too! I can take a hint. At least I am among friends here at Bio. Navychief
  8. I found this today while surfing flight sim sites. More later! Navychief
  9. For all you frustrated Carrier Pilots....

Thanks Mr. Mudd The site I found the a-4 pattern jpeg was at: http://www.navyair.com/ Interesting site, but I get the feeling that they are VERY picky about who they let join their group. I posted a message, expressing interest in flying with them, but haven't heard back from them. They have a routine that newbies have to go through, including a "flight test", before applicants are accepted. These dudes are possibly too serious for me, but I applied anyway. By the way, I am only a "lowly" E-7, not an E-9, or "Master Blaster", as we call them. But thanks for the promotion anyway! Navychief
  10. Armand is doing better; leastwise he is eating and has no temperature. I attribute a lot of the improvement in his condition to all the support you good friends have shown. Without your thoughts and prayers, I truly don't think Armand would be with me now. Thank you. Thank you so very much. On a lighter note, we have another cat named C.C. (Calico Cat) who has a bad habit of peeing on the stove. Not a nice thing to wake up to! We tried covering the stove with a towel, but I found it wet again this morning. Eeeech! So, I will try a piece of wood, or something to cover the surface better. This is one problem I would rather not deal with! Thanks again for everyone's support. Armand says a weak, but heartfelt....Meowrrrr! Navychief
  11. Hey Chief! Look what I found

Hey Pc Pilot Not sure of age of egg cups. I believe they are from the WW2 era. I have 6 total; some have CPO anchor, one has an admirals flag, and only one has the USN. Ebay is a wonderful place to shop, but SO easy to spend too much! Navychief A few months back, I bid and won on an aircraft cockpit light, with a cord. Problem is, it is 28v, and I have no clue if it is possible to convert; or how expensive it would be to do so.
  12. Hey Chief! Look what I found

Hey Snapple Yep, the dude has a lot of stuff alright. I have enough patches, hats and mugs right now though. He does have a VF-143 mug...did you see that? I have a collection of old US Navy egg cups. They were commonly used as coffee cups, because they don't have handles, and sailors would wrap their hands around them to keep them warm. Navychief
  13. Describe your job.

Ooops, It was the first time I tried the "quote" function. It was Scout51 that mentioned Michael-the-idiot-Moore. Sorry, Beer! Navychief
  14. Describe your job.

Michael Moore is a joke. If there was ever an argument FOR birth control, it is that idiot. What a waste of human flesh. Navychief
  15. Describe your job.

Well, lets see. For 20 years, I was a: Aviation Structual Mechanic (Egress Systems). Retired as an AMEC. Also worked for The Home Depot for 3 1/2 yrs; then got injured, told Home Depot to kisss my a.s.s., and walked out the door. They kept forcing me to do things that were injuring me even further, and I got tired of arguing with the idiots. First time I ever walked out on a job, and I still don't regret it. What do I do now? Whatever the heck I feel like doing. Actually, my wife and I started an animal rescue about three months ago. Since we got state certified, we have have adopted out 89 animals; of which a third are puppies, and the rest are kittens. Most of my day is spent cleaning up after the kittens. A LOT of cat litter boxes. So.....I guess my new title is: S.L.J.C.P.O.....or......S.h.i.t.t.y Little Job Chief Petty Officer! My only relief from all of this is Flight Sims......thank goodness for that, eh? Navychief
  16. Update on "Armand"

Things have changed; hopefully for the better. The vet gave Armand an injection of Valium. The reaction to Valium in cats is drastically different from what it does to humans. In cats, it can sometimes cause a temporary craving for food. That is exactly what took place. Armand went through two cans of cat food in less than 3 minutes. I had never seen him eat like that. In fact, he just about bit the assistant's finger when he got it too close to Armand's bowl! Right now, he is sleeping. I am hopeful that maybe, just maybe this is a turning point, and I can build his strength back up to fight off this illness. Thank you so much for your support. It means the world to me. I will keep you all informed on how he is doing. Thanks again, Navychief
  17. I was thinking recently (VERY bad thing for a Navy Chief to do!) about setting my CH Pro Combatstick joystick buttons to emulate the actual assignments for an F-4, A-7, F-8, etc... A friend of mine, (a retired AFCM) suggested I contact the Tailhook Assn.; thinking they would be able to help. Gee, I guess that is why he made E9 and I never made it to E8! I contacted the Tailhook Assn., and got a reply, saying if they couldn't find what I needed in their library of MIMS/NATOPS manuals, that they would come up with the information I needed somehow. GREAT! I will let you know what happens! Navychief
  18. Update on "Armand"

Armand is doing better, or so it seems. Last night, as I was getting ready to go to bed, he got up and was in the kitchen, crying at me. That was unusual in itself, because he has been staying in his bed and I have had to pick him up and place him on a shelf to encourage him to at least try and eat. But last night, he ate some food out of three different bowls that my wife had placed on the kitchen counter for our other cats. Very unusual. Then, as I was getting into bed, Armand jumped up. He has not done so for many weeks. In fact, last night when he jumped up, he almost fell because he is so weak. I am giving him a good dose of nutrical every day. He is also given Baytril in the morning, and twice daily I give him a half tablet of Cyprohepatdine, to stimulate his appetite. Seems to be working a little. Things are looking up for the little tyke. I am encouraged. I also thank everyone for your support. It really helps! Navychief
  19. Update on "Armand"

Hey MJ, thanks for asking. Well, this morning I was encouraged because Armand (with my help in supporting him) actually drank some water. It is the first time in over two weeks that I have seen him do so. I have had to give him beneath-skin injections of lactated ringers solution, twice daily, for the past couple of weeks. And so, I was glad to see him drink a little. He also was more vocal than usual today. Siamese are known for being "talkative", but Armand has not been that way for quite some time. I will feel much more at ease when I can get Armand back to his normal eating habits. For now, he mostly justs licks up the juice from the cat food I give him. He slinks around, looking scared. Not at all the confident and playful Siamese cat that I love so much. Armand is better, but still so very frail. I may take him back to the vet tomorrow afternoon for another Valium injection. Perhaps if his stomach can get used to having food in it, then he will respond favorably. Again, thanks for asking, MJ. I will post how he is doing more regulary. Navychief
  20. PhantomWarrior's Death - Or Not? PLEASE READ!!

I waited for a while to weigh in on this. Really don't have anything to add, as everyone before me has pretty much said all there is to say. I have not had that much contact with Ranger. Only question I would have for him is, why? Why do such a thing? Navychief
  21. I stumbled upon quite an interesting sim site: http://www.ai-uk.net/VUSN/NAEC/index.htm They are, among many other projects, working on adding new improvements to Naval Air Station scenery for NAS Lemoore, CA, and NAS Oceana, VA. Watch this site, shipmates. It looks promising FS2004 improvements, and US Naval Aviation information. Navychief
  22. Losing a good friend

This may not be a topic for this site, but this is the "Pub" forum, and I consider you all my friends. Perhaps not all of you are cat-lovers, but so be it. I have a siamese cat named, Armand, that has been a loving companion of mine for the past 3 years, and he is dying. He took sick about three weeks ago with an upper respiratory infection. I have given him all possible medications, but Armand is so weak, I don't think he will pull through this. Please keep him and me in your thoughts. I am trying to give my little companion all he needs to survive, but it is as if he has given up on himself. Pets are a gift from God. I am thankful, so very thankful that Armand has been part of my life. Navychief
  23. Losing a good friend

Armand goes to the vet tomorrow morning for them to put in a feeding tube. The vet explained to me a couple days ago that it is something they do to provide the necessary nutrients, and hopefully stimulate the animals desire to live. I can only pray this works. It is the only thing left to try. I will let you know what happens, my friends. Navychief
  24. The pictures of the A-7 progress are fantastic! Column 5, and Armourdave are to be commended! I am really looking forward to "flying" my beloved A-7! Chief W. VA-15 Valions, from 1981-1984, attached to USS Independence (CV-62)
  25. Hey C5 As for the stripe, typically, the COs aircraft would sometimes have more color to it. His aircraft was 300, though, and the XOs was 301. NC After the Navy went to the ugly Tactical Gray paint scheme, only the COs plane had any extra color added. One of the bad things about the tactical gray, (and still is, for that matter) is that the paint does not readily shed dirt when washed. Nope. Quite the contrary. It is very porous, and the dirt gets embedded and the surface is very hard to clean.
