  1. Hey Column5 I finally received at least one picture from the PAO of VFA-83. "She" was quite slow in replying. Of course, I am sure that pictures of old squadron aircraft are not exactly on the top of her "Action List". Still, I was not impressed with the results. Here, at least, is one picture of a "Rampager" Corsair. I have contacted the Naval Aviation Museum Research Dept., on advice of VFA-83's PAO, and perhaps they will respond somewhat faster, and with better resolution JPEGs. Navychief
  2. Some time ago, Denzil posted a message that said "Dave and MontyCZ" were working on a RA-5C Viligilante addon. Haven't seen any more message traffic about this. Does anyone out there in Bio Land know the straight skinny? Have a Great Navy/Marine Corps Day! Go NAVAIR. Chief
  3. Hey Seawolf They used a device that melted its way down to the aircraft. The hole was only a few feet in circumference, and very deep in the ice. They had to bring up the aircraft in many pieces. Talk about dedication! I don't know if I would have the desire to go through what they did. And the cost was unbelievable. NC
  4. Losing a good friend

Armand is still holding his own. Although extremely weak, he licks up the juice from the cat food I offer to him. I am continuing to give him subcutaneous fluid under his skin, as he is still dehydrated, and is losing weight quickly. He doesn't have much weight to lose. As you can see from the picture, he is not a large cat. Wednesday, if he is not better, I will take him to the vet. They will place a feeding tube in him to give him the nutrients that he needs, but does not have the desire or strength to eat for himself. If that doesn't work, I am afraid nothing will. I will keep you all posted. Thanks so much for your support. Navychief
  5. There was a documentary about it on, I think, the WINGS channel. The expedition took years, and they were only able to bring back one of the P-38s, and it took them many years more to restore it. None of the birds were in pristine condition when found. Quite the contrary. And they were buried way beneath the surface of the glacier. Quite an undertaking, if you ask me! Navychief
  6. fsfreeware B-25

Outstanding download! I installed it, and tried it for a few mins. Great sound too. NC
  7. Ok, for the second time now, I have installed a addon for FS2004, and it is NOT showing up on the menu of available aircraft. This time, it is the Global Hawk. All of my files are in their proper place. Can ANYONE tell me what the problem might be? Please, no jokes. This really has me pissed off. Navychief
  8. Hey Striker I just wanted to say thanks for your efforts. You obviously spent a lot of time setting the site up, and I appreciate it. I plan to visit it and give you some feedback, once I have time to read it all! Navychief
  9. My neighbor alerted me to this item on EBAY. I thought some of you would be interested: eBay item 3142786961 Go see it. Navychief
  10. An EBAY item for you F-4 Phantom "Phans!"

Here's two pictures of it. It is a very small head. The other wall has a darken-ship light, and a porthole mirror, the same diameter as the one in the picture. The sink is stainless steel, and came from the CHENG's stateroom of a scrapped destroyer. The ID plate outside the door isn't exactly what I wanted, but my source is still looking to get me a CPO Head ID plate. navychief
  11. Screenshots

Here's one taken just after takeoff from NAS Cecil Field in a thunderstorm. By the way, I noticed there is a screenshot gallery, but how do I submit to it? Navychief
  12. FS2004 Plane textures

I think Dagger made a post about that. There is a download for it, and I have it, but have not looked at it yet. NavyChief
  13. An EBAY item for you F-4 Phantom "Phans!"

No, I won't be bidding on it. Much as I like F-4s, I have WAY too much stuff in this small house as it is! Navychief
  14. FS9 Screenshot of Navy C-9

Took this while circling NAS Whidbey Island, WA GO NAVAIR! Navychief
  15. Screenshots

Hey Ranger Heck no I don't care! Of course, my interests are obviously in favor of Naval aviation though! That Global Hawk looks neat. Is it fun to fly? Navychief
  16. Pic for Chief

Hey Seawolf Thanks for the picture! Yep, a lot of tiedowns required for heavy weather. Seems like I recall that as many as 32 or 36 were sometimes used per aircraft! Tiedown chains were a major pain in the arse for me as a Line CPO. I had the ultimate responsiblity of their inventory, and the blue shirts on the carrier were always throwing them over the side. I caught one of them doing it one night, and I damn near threw HIM overboard! I took his scrawny butt to his Div. CPO, and let him take care of it. Grrrrr. Navychief
  17. A not-so-intelligent BAM..

A BAM, for those who don't know, used to be a acronym that meant "Broad-Assed Marine" for female Marines. It isn't used today to my knowledge, ...but I found the following story about a female Marine on the Fox News Website, and wanted to share it: NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana — A Marine received 14 months in a military brig for using a military credit card for an unauthorized six-figure shopping spree that included a car, a motorcycle and breast enhancement surgery. Staff Sgt. Sherry Pierre worked for Marine Forces Reserve Headquarters Command in New Orleans when she made $129,709 in improper purchases in 2000 and 2001, military officials said. Pierre pleaded guilty to stealing from the government in a court-martial proceeding held in New Orleans in June, Capt. Jeff Pool, a spokesman for the Reserve, confirmed Sunday. Pierre also received a bad-conduct discharge, a $30,000 fine and a reduction in rank from staff sergeant to lance corporal. The verdict is on appeal, a process Pool said occurs automatically in such courts-martial. What an idiot! Have a great NAVY/USMC DAY! Navy Chief
  18. Nope, keep with the 60s and 70s era. That is the main reason I like this sim. So many memories from that time of my life. Navychief
  19. I just downloaded and installed a Super Connie, and it is magnificent! The sounds, everything! Highly recommend it. It is a FS2002 addon, but seems to work just fine with FS9. Navychief
  20. So does anybody wanna give SF another shot at MP?

Ok, so when is everyone meeting on HL? I am on Eastern time. Also, I know that the mods cause problems for MP. I have installed a lot of them. Does that count me out for MP? Navychief
  21. ok name that location

That's too easy. San Francisco bay.......Alcatraz Island. navychief
  22. NAS Cecil Field, FL "Gate Guard"

Anyone who visited NAS Cecil Field, Fl when it was still operational will remember seeing the familiar site of the A-7 Corsair that was the base "gate guard", perched on a pedestal by the front gate. When the base closed, I always wondered what happened to that aircraft, and I only just recently found out. It has a new home at the Don Garlits Racing Museum, located in Ocala, FL. I emailed Don and asked if he had some better photos of the aircraft besides the one on his website, and here is what he sent back. This particular aircraft used to be at Pax River, MD. I was a Plane Captain on it during the early 70s. Navychief
  23. Using FS2002 addon aircraft in FS9

Hey Dagger Yes, when I initially installed the aircraft, it gave me the option of not installing the features that weren't supported. Well, I chose to install them anyway. I tried uninstalling the aircraft, and then reinstalling, but it is not giving me that option on the second time around. Any ideas? Still no landing gear. navy chief
  24. Adding CFS Aircraft to M/S FS 2004?

Hey Howling Well, I am afraid I don't have the answer, but am sure glad you asked the question. I would like to know how to do the same thing! Navychief
  25. NAS Cecil Field, FL "Gate Guard"

Most of the other static display aircraft were moved to NAS Jacksonville. Here are pictures of some of the aircraft at NAS Nax now on display. The S-3, I think, had already been with a squadron transferred to NAS Jax when it was retired to display status. The Crusader and the Skyhawk were at Cecil originally. There are other aircraft there also, including a P-2V Neptune, and another Corsair. http://www.nasjax.navy.mil/index2001b.htm I am not sure if all of them went there though. I will do some checking on it. Quite a few of my fellow shipmates from my tour with VA-15 still live in Jacksonville; specifically in Orange Park. I'll have an update for you soon. Navychief
