dia_0602 So now it is the depleted uranium from our bombs that is at fault? Silly me, for thinking that Saddam Hussein and his regime had anything to do with it. You are one misguded individual.

SFP1 favorite campaigns, and tips, anyone?
navychief posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Ok, I have had this game for some time now. The thing is, I would really appreciate some tips from those who "fly" it a lot. By this, I mean: 1. What are your favorite campaigns? 2. When you fly, do you start from the runway, or in the air? 3. What is your aircraft of choice, and why? 4. Do you manually fly the sortie, or do you use AutoPilot? Any tips you can post concerning how you play the game would be helpful. I find it somewhat boring, not really knowing what I am doing with this sim. Oh, I know how to take off, land, etc..., but what I would like to know more about, is how to really take advantage of the game. Details, like how to navigate and what weapons to use on targets, etc... Thanks. Chief W. -

Now that it is quite obvious that the Iraqi people do appreciate being liberated, I wonder if we will ever hear words from the "Hollywood left" such as, "We were,.....like wrong." It will never happen. Chief W.

I thought, according to Baghdad Bob, that the Coalition was kicked out of Baghdad. Gee, could he have been wrong? Yep. Chief W.

The following is an excerpt from a Knoxville, TN newspaper column by Sam Venable. He was making suggestion s for "Baghdad Bob", if he were to come to the US to find a job, since he won't have one now in Iraq: "For starters, he'd be a dream come true for sleazy car dealers. Imagine al-Sahhaf's talents applied to, say, a '76 Pinto with 181,000 miles on the odometer, sitting on cinder blocks, engine missing, undercarriage rusted out, various transmission parts piled up in the front seat, a layer of kudzu over the hood, plus a 20-foot mimosa growing through a hole in the windshield: An automotive classic! Mint condition, just like it rolled off the assembly line! This is a $150,000 value, but the first person who shows up at Honest Mohammed's Auto Sales with $80,000 in cash drives home in this cream puff!" Al-Sahhaf could make millions touting cheeseburgers as health food, swampland as primo real estate and cigarettes as the cure for heart and lung ailments." I love it. Chief W.

Iraq's Information Minister (or is it DIS-information?) said Tuesday it has no intention of surrendering to US forces which have seized parts of Baghdad. Mohammed Saeed al-Sahaf said Iraqi troops had the situation under control. "We are going to tackle them and going to destroy them," he told reporters. "We will not surrender," he said. "The US will surrender or we will burn their tanks. I have to tell you, this guy should be on Saturday Night Live, doing the "Weekend Update", with Chevy Chase. I mean, he has NO clue! What I would like to see, is one of our soldiers standing behind "Baghdad Bob" while he is spewing forth his propaganda; tap him on his shoulder and say, "CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?" Hehehehehe.... "Baghdad Bob" is, at least, providing some comedy relief in the midst of this war. Chief W.

Most requested Add-ons?
navychief replied to Hawker's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I agree about the inflight refueling, and ESCPECIALLY to include the Intruder. Besides it's original design as a bomber, the KA-6D configuration was as a tanker. I am really looking forward to the addition of the A-6, AND the A-7! Chief W. -
Great looking mod to da page, MJ!!! I love it!!! Chief W.

Opening the canopy? Has anyone done this?
navychief posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Today I happened upon some posts on SimHQ that dealt with modifying the data file for the F4E so the canopy will open. I would like to know if anyone out there has done this successfully? Before I make such a modification, I want to know it will work. I have had to do too many uninstalls lately! Go Navy! Chief W. -

I have wondered about overclocking my system, but have been worried about messing things up. I know enough to screw things up royally! I am running a Pentium 4, GForce 4200, and plenty of ram and hard drive space... Chief.

Here's a picture of the other "Chief" at my house. His name is, indeed, "Chief", and would LOVE a visit from "Yosemite Saddam Hussein". "Chief" has been kinda cranky lately. Whenever he sees a picture of Saddam on the tv, he starts growling...hehehehehe... Chief W.

One of Iraq's spokesmen stated today that the Americans are on the run, and are like a "snake". He also said that the Americans are not in control of anything in Iraq; and that none of them are anywhere near Baghdad. Any reports to the contrary, he said, are an ILLUSION! Well then, I truly hope they are making another such broadcast when a well-placed round from an "illusionary American tank" comes screaming into the building........ Illusion, eh? If that is the case, even David Copperfield would be jealous of such a feat! Chief W.

Two strangers are sitting in an adjacent seats in airplane. One guy says to the other, "Let's talk." I hear that the flight will go faster if you strike up a conversation with your fellow passenger." The other guy, a Navy Chief, who had just opened a good book, closes it slowly, and asks, "What would you like to discuss?" The first guy says, "Oh, I don't know; how about Nuclear Power?" The Chief says, "OK, that could make for some pretty interesting conversation. But let me ask you a question first: A horse, a cow, and a deer all eat the same stuff, but the deer excretes pellets; the cow, big patties; and the horse, clumps of dried grass. Why is that?" The first guy says, "I don't know." The Chief says, "Oh? Well then, do you really think you're qualified to discuss Nuclear Power when you don't know s**t?"

F-89C does not work
navychief replied to lexicon's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Well, I was able to load the new aircraft into its own directory. All looked ok, until I added power on the runway to take off. Immediately, the aircraft takes a right turn, and goes out of control, before even going down the runway. I tried other aircraft, thinking the problem was my machine, but it isn't. Let me know if anyone else is having this problem. Chief W. -
A long time ago, Britain and France were at war. During one battle,The French captured an English major. Taking the major to their headquarters, the French general began to question him. The French general asked, "Why do you English officers all wear red coats? Don't you know the red material makes you easier targets for us to shoot at?" In his bland English way, the major informed the general that the reason English officers wear red coats is so that if they are shot, the blood won't show and the men they are leading won't panic. And that is why from that day to now all French Army officers wear brown pants Hehehehehe.....Chief W.

The uniform I was wearing in that picture is called "Aviation Greens". It is considered a working uniform, believe it or not. It is all wool, and can only be worn in cold climates, obviously. This uniform is very rarely worn nowadays. In fact, it has to be special ordered, as it is not carried as a stock item by the Navy Exchange Uniform Center. I do think it is a sharp looking uniform though. One uniform that the US Navy got rid of many years ago, was the Dress Khaki. The picture featured is of Admiral Chester W. Nimitz, Circa 1942. It was VERY sharp looking uniform, but someone decided it needed to go. Too bad. Wish I could have worn it! Chief Ward, Retired.
