  1. For WW2 SF2, we need a good set of SF2 level FMs for prop birds. Obviously we have a stock Spit and Mustang now, and there is a 109G mod available, but I think that's about it. Give me an SF2 Spit, Hurri, 109, Stuka and a couple of German medium bombers and I'm all over BoB for SF2
  2. Nice B-17, cheers Veltro Shrike, on the subject of SF2 prop campaigns, give me a decent SF2 level prop planeset and I'm all over it As has been said elsewhere, it's the SF2 models and FMs in particular that are the issue. But now we have a stock Spit & Mustang, and I'm sure I've seen a 109G mod for SF2 around here, we are getting close. With Veltro's B-17 and a decent SF2 Luftwaffe bomber, we almost have enough to make it doable/worthwhile. Fingers crossed. . .
  3. Hi everyone, Thanks for taking time to download and comment on this. Nice to hear from you guys Derk, I got your PMs with suggestions, please keep them coming, good to hear from someone who has first hand knowledge of visiting the region, particularly the northern latitudes. I can easily re-tile to remove trees from the extreme Northern islands, and 100km or so south, it might just take a little time Like I said in the readme, this terrain will be updated as and when time permits, particularly with target.ini upgrades, which is a slow process. I decided to release it as a beta as it is in a well advanced state, fully flyable, with all tiling/runway flattening work completed, and has been sitting on my hard drive in that state for quite some time while I've been working on other projects. There are a couple of other terrain wips I have trailed here which are in a similar state, so if people think this is a sensible release strategy some of those may also see the light of day before too long. Comments welcome. Cheers all, Baltika
  4. North Cape beta terrain now available:- http://combatace.com/files/file/11891-north-cape-terrain/ Feedback, bug reports, comments etc most welcome. Slainte! Baltika
  5. File Name: Iceland Terrain v1.02 Update File Submitter: Baltika File Submitted: 07 November 2010 File Category: Full Terrains *********************************** Iceland Full-Scale Terrain v1.02 Update by Baltika 19 December 2010 *********************************** This update will bring any previous version of my Iceland terrain up to v1.02. Changelog:- v1.02 -Added Iceland02_Water.bmp and revised ICELAND02.INI file to enable full water functionality for SF2 EP2 Mission Editor users. Thanks to tn_prvteye for creating the water.bmp file included here. -Added full city tile .tod files for buildings in Reykjavik. -Added 40+ additional targets to Reykjavik. AAA defence much stronger now! -Revised ICELAND02_NATIONS.INI file for extra sea locations and accurate representation of Iceland Defence Force. v1.01 -Corrected overlapping ground units in Red and Blue Force Air Defence Sites. -Corrected overlapping ground units in Red and Blue Force Army Bases. -Added Iceland02_DOGFIGHT.INI file. -Added USN and USMC to Limited Nations List in terrain NATIONS.INI file. -The revised NATIONS.INI has cured the hard lockup bug for CAS/Anti-Ship/Armed Recon missions in SFP1/WoX builds. *********************************** INSTALLATION You must first have installed Iceland Full-Scale terrain v1.0. This pack will update both v1.0 and v1.01 to v1.02. Simply unzip and drop the various new files into your \Terrains\ICELAND02 folder, making sure to over-write the previous versions. This update is good for SF2 and SFP1/WoX installs. *********************************** Click here to download this file
  6. Hi KJakker, Glad you like my little Iceland terrain, thanks Thanks also for pointing out those errors. I have a targetisation upgrade in the works, and I will fix the AAA position for that site. Wrench, thanks for posting the fix for the weird shadows. I will include that in the upcoming update also. Slàinte! Baltika
  7. Start here:- http://combatace.com/forum/193-creatingmodding-campaigns/ Bunyap's guide covers all the essentials. Best thing to do is look at stock campaigns, see how it all fits together. Search SFP1 Campaign and mission building forum with any speicifc questions, various campaign modders including myself have written a ton of stuff in there over the years. Cheers, baltika
  8. Hi there, All tiles with water effects are in .TGA format. the layer mask on the TGA allows sea effects to show up on those parts of the tile which are covered by water. Here is Wrench's invaluable guide on how to turn your terrain .bmp file into a TGA file which will be read by the sim:- http://combatace.com/topic/50042-simplified-sealand-transition-tile-creation/ Here's my equally invaluable guide on how to do it if you are using gimp to edit your .bmp files:- http://combatace.com/topic/58802-how-to-create-alpha-channel-for-coastal-tile-in-gimp/ Hope that helps. Cheers, Baltika. PS To achieve what you want to, I think you will have to convert the sea & sea/land transition TGA tiles into BMP format, make the changes to the bmp, then re-convert back to TGA format, using the guides above. Bon chance, mon brave!
  9. Or, until the victory/defeat conditions are met, i.e. your ground forces capture the enemy base node, or the enemy ground forces capture your base node. Those are also all defined in the campaign_DATA.INI file. Your success rate in completing missions has a direct effect on the success rate of your ground forces. Some campaigns do not have a ground war, e.g the stock Vietnam campaigns, then, as Stick says you have to complete (survive!) your tour of duty. So, it all depends on the particular campaign, and how well you do in the air.
  10. Hi yubba, Thanks for your interest in the old BoB campaign, it was the culmination of lot of hard work by many of the talented modders round here. Sorry for not replying sooner, RL etc, you know. There are very detailed installation instructions included with the package. They are also listed right on the campaign file download page, just scroll down and you will see the whole thing. I reproduce them here for ease of reference (See below) Scroll down to the section headed "INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS" for detailed, step by step instructions on how to install it. The readme also includes download links for most of the files which are not included in the package. The main exceptions are the DAT aircraft files, which by choice of the builder are available only at his site. I know it is a bit of a headache to set up, especially if you are new to setting up mods in WoX series, but believe me I would never release a mod without detailed installation instructions - the mighty Wrench would never let me hear the end of it for one thing Read through the instructions, if you have any trouble following them, ask away. Tally-ho!, Baltika Battle of Britain Campaign Beta v0.60a ******************************************************************************************* This is a campaign for use on Gepard's excellent Battle of Britain terrain v1.4 It will run on SFP1, WoV and WoE, although only fully tested on SFP1. You have been warned! ******************************************************************************************** INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS 1. Install SFP1/WoV/WoE (For WoV & WoE follow Wrench's instructions to create an era-specific install - see KB at combatace) 2. Patch up to v 083006 3. Delete all stock aircraft 4. Install the DAT aircraft listed above 5. Install Wrench's WW2 wep pak. 6. Install Gepard's BoB terrain v1.4. For detailed instructions on how to do this, see the readme file for the terrain. 7. Copy the Battle of Britain campaign mod files to the relevant folder of your new install. The simplest thing is to retain the file structure and copy the unpacked files over. Items in the Campaigns, Flight, Menu, Missions, Objects and Objects/Aircraft, PilotData, Sounds and Terrain folders go into those same folders in your new install. The options.ini file goes into your main Strike Fighters folder. When asked to overwrite existing files, say "Yes" each time. YOU DID BACK UP THOSE FILES LISTED ABOVE, DIDN'T YOU? 8. Copy the file Hurricane-R10D.LOD from the Hurricane1 folder into the Hurricane2A folder. 9. Copy all the Spitfire .LOD files from the Spitfire1A folder into the Spitfire2A folder. 10. That's it. Battle of Britain should now be available at the campaign menu. Happy hunting! ******************************************************************************************** KNOWN ISSUES:- 1. Finally sorted out the "random movement of air units" bug. That was the main problem which meant this campaign was a beta release. You should now see a lot more air activity on both sides. 2. Victory conditions. "Winning" a campaign depends on your Force capturing the enemy Base node. So the best the RAF can hope for is a lose or a stall. No invasion of Fortress Europe in 1940! As for the Luftwaffe, well. . . 3. The RAF fly a lot of intercept missions, and they're hard. Good luck! Use high energy boom and zoom attacks, or frontal attacks for best results. Try to keep your wingies alive. Remember this is a war of attrition, so kills matter. Ignore Bitchin' Betty when she tells you to RTB, mission failed. Finish off those bombers! As an extra hint, the campaign engine does not fix intercept waypoints very efficiently. If you rely on them, you will not intercept bomber formations until they are on top of their target - by which time it's too late. Use planning map to move your waypoints to show the most direct route between waypoint 2 and your objective point. Then use Red Crown to give you the best vector to your target. Intercept those bombers while they are still out there! 4. In order to make the phased campaign work properly, I have brought forward the front-line operational dates of certain squadrons (303, 310, 603 and 1 RCAF) to the start of July 1940. This is clearly non-historical. However, having later start dates meant that the timings of the phased campaign were thrown out of kilter, so I chose this as the lesser of two evils. ******************************************************************************************** Credits:- Thanks to Gepard, the A-team, RussoUK2004, Kesselbrut, allenjb42, Pasko, Bunyap, Charles, Kout, Cellinsky, swayne64, pcpilot, CA_Stary, B Bandy RFC, George (Geo) and, of course TK and Thirdwire. Let me also express my grateful thanks to those Devs and modders listed above who have granted permission to allow their work to be included in this package. That makes installation a whole lot easier! And, of course, without their work, this campaign would, quite simply, not exist. Thanks to all! If I have missed anyone out please let me know and I will add your name, with my apologies. 11. Still a WIP, although I haven't advanced it in a while. Got distracted by Iceland, but now it's been released, I will take a look at my WIP list for 2011. My New Year's resolution was to finish advertised terrain and campaign wips before starting anything new - which took me about 6 days to break You know the drill. . . 2 weeks Cheers
  12. Hi Bearwolf, I think we can help each other out here. 2 points:- 1. TE has the capability to import terrain from a number of different DEM files. So, if you download e100n40, e100n90, e140n90 & e140n40 from the ESGS/EROS site, then specify the latitude & longitude you want in TE, TE will import all the pieces it needs from the different DEM files and stich them together into a new map. So, you should be able to get all the DEM info you need from that site. 2. Like Wrench says, there is no need to re-invent the wheel, that is, have different people doing the same work over & over. Take a look at this thread, at post #11: http://combatace.com/topic/46880-kurile-islands-campaign-remember-usnf-97/ You will see I have built a WIP Far East map which covers the whole area you are interested in, I think. It has not progressed much since I released the Kamchatka preview nearly a year ago, because my focus shifted to Iceland terrain. Also, it was not my intention to develop Korea on this map at least at first, my focus being on Japan & Russia. You can see from the picture the airbases etc I have plotted. Also, it became apparant that the KAW mod is going to be fabulous and there seemed little point in spending time on what could only ever be a poor second (or third, or fourth best, given the various Korea terrains available!) If you like, I can send this over to you if you want to use it as a basis for developing your own Korea terrain. Be warned, the tileset is based on Deuces GermanyCE repaint, so may not suit Korea very well. Also, there has been virtually no targetisation work done on this terrain. It is really more of an alpha than a beta right now. All I ask is a namecheck in the credits, and return permission to incorporate your Korea target list in the whole Far East map if I ever get round to finishing it Best wishes on your conscription Cheers, Baltika

  14. Hi Stingray, you may want to take a read at this thread over on the Thirdwire website, it might save you a bit of work:- http://bbs.thirdwire.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=6205&start=8 Cheers, Baltika
  15. Check this out - http://combatace.com/topic/61053-future-new-and-updated-modscampaign-from-combatace/ Therein lies the problem. Having said that, I have a gleam in my eye for a Sevastopol add-on for Wings Over Russia, and the Rising Sun content looks interesting enough to make me think about updating some of the old Burma/PTO campaigns - but I haven't taken the plunge into the YAP stuff yet. Bottom line is, don't hold your breath
  16. Stary, I remember you are one of the original propheads - I still use your WW2 effects on my installs As for destructible carriers, this from TK:- Re: What's next? by TK » Sat Oct 30, 2010 4:43 pm Well, F-14's main mission is fleet defense, and we can't do that properly with unsinkable carriers... TK -- TK Ace Posts: 5669 Joined: Sun Feb 02, 2003 5:39 pm Location: Austin, Texas E-mail TKWebsite To see it, look on Thirdwire website forum, General Discussion, Thread "What's next?" at page 28,about 2/3 way down. More of a hint, he has not elaborated on this in any way so far as I recall - but what a hint Cheers mate, Slàinte mhòr! Baltika
  17. Like Wrench, I would love to see the WW2 stuff updated for SF2, especially the old BoB and Midway campaigns. Funnily enough I flew a mission off the deck of Enterprise the other night on my '06 level PTO install as part of Midway campaign. Great fun, but really brought home to me how much SF2 has moved on from those days. And the full naval combat with destroyable carriers which TK has said will be introduced with SF2:Tomcat makes me drool at the thought of SF2 level WW2 carrier campaigns. But, without SF2 level 3d models and FM/DMs, that's a no-go for now

The refusal of the Western Powers to negotiate on this issue has left the Kremlin with no option but to pursue a military solution. Full-scale war in Central Europe is considered detrimental to Russian national interest. A bold strike to occupy the strategically vital staging post of Iceland is considered to be an achievable goal which will demonstrate the resolve of the Russian people whilst avoiding a nuclear escalation of hostilities. Once occupied, Iceland will become the major forward missile and submarine base of the Russian Empire and will guarantee strategic control of the North Atlantic. Air and ground units of the Iceland Defence Force are on station to mount a defence of the island. The USS Dwight D. Eisenhower CVN-69, with units of Carrier Air Wing 7 embarked, is making all speed to the North Atlantic to oppose the Russian invasion. . . // -------------------------------------------- // 1.03 update Revised installation instructions to synchronise with Iceland terrain v1.02. // 1.02 Update This adds in squadrons from the remaining members of the Iceland Defence Force:- RNoAF 332 Skv (F-16) RCAF 441 Sqn "Silver Foxes" (CF-188) KLU 323 Sqn (F-16) Also adds in the following ground forces:- Norwegian Telemark Battalion Dutch Regiment Huzaren Van Sytzama Royal Canadian Dragoons In addition to the files listed below which were required for previous versions, you will need to add the following files:- CF-188 mod by Saguanay, based on Mirage Factory FA-18A: Available at http://www.checksix-fr.com/ KLU 323 Sqdn Skinpack by RavenClaw_007 (Put in F-16A_Blk10-NDC folder):- http://combatace.com/files/file/3974-323sqn-skinpack/ // --------------------------------------------- Required Files:- Iceland Terrain by Baltika, and v1.02 update:- http://combatace.com/files/file/11447-iceland02-full-scale-terrain-v10/ http://combatace.com/files/file/11476-iceland-terrain-v102-update/ Aircraft Carriers & Ships: USN Nimitz Class Carriers - Modded by WombRaider from original by Digital Overload: http://combatace.com/files/file/7423-usn-nimitz-class-carriers/ Admiral Gorshkov by X-RAY http://combatace.com/files/file/5830-admiral-gorshkov/ UdaloyI by China Insky Team http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=10336 UdaloyII by China Insky Team http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=10330 Russian Aircraft:- MiG-31M - Modded by Erwin Hans from lindr2's original http://combatace.com/files/file/8585-mig-31m-new-mig-31bm-radar-fix/ SU-33 Sea Flanker by Insky Group: http://combatace.com/files/file/11364-su-33-sea-flanker/ SU-39 by Erwin Hans et al http://combatace.com/files/file/7921-su-39-super-grach/ MiG-29 by Mirage Factory (MiG-29C_rus) http://combatace.com/files/category/135-mig-29-fulcrum/ Tu-95A Bear by Veltro2k http://combatace.com/files/file/7866-tu-95-bear-a/ MiG-27K mod by Gepard http://combatace.com/files/file/5493-mig-27k-carrier-based/ Su-27 by MarcFighter http://marcfighters.combatace.com/Aircrafts.htm NATO Aircraft:- F-14A+ - Modded by Typhoid from Mirage Factory original: http://combatace.com/files/file/3924-f-14a/ F-15C/D MSIP by Dave, Crusader, Fubar512, wpnssgt et al http://combatace.com/files/file/5865-msip-f-15cd/ Harrier GR7 by bobrock http://combatace.com/files/file/9116-harrier-gr7/ Tornado F3 by bobrock http://combatace.com/files/file/8268-tornado-f3/ F-16A Block 10 NDC by Mirage Factory http://combatace.com/files/file/3507-mirage-factory-f-16a-blk-10-ndc/ FA-18A by Mirage Factory http://combatace.com/files/file/1553-mirage-factory-fa-18a-hornet/ EA-6B Prowler by Agamemnon &allenjb42, original by Hawker http://combatace.com/files/file/2517-ea-6b/ Skins:- 57th FIS F-15C skin by Dave http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=1572 VF-103 Jolly Rogers F-14 skin by Paul Nortness (put in F-14A+ folder) http://combatace.com/files/file/4850-vf-103-jolly-rogers/ // ---------------------------------------------------- // INSTALLATION Ensure that all files listed above are installed. The files included in this download pack are set up to make it obvious where everything has to go. Contents of \Campaign folder to your WoE\Campaign folder, \Menu folder to WoE\Menu folder, etc. For those who are updating a previous version of this campaign mod, just drop the included files into your existing install, over-writing any previous version. This will break any earlier Polar Glory campaign still in progress, so you may wish to finish before updating. Any problems getting it up and running, give me a shout. // ---------------------------------------------------- Notes:- I had a problem getting Su-33 loadouts to work in campaign mode. To get the missiles to show up, I had to use the weapons editor to remove StationCode entries from these missiles:- AA-11B, AA-10C and AA-10D. If you have nay trouble with this stuff, post in the support thread and I'll do my best to help out. For all those of you who say, "Why aren't you using the new TMF F-14A/B for SF2?" This is a "template" campaign based on all the stuff I have in my heavily-modded WoE Oct 08 install. The purpose is to get a workable Iceland campaign out asap, as this has been requested and is a mission goal. I am also behind the curve in modding SF2, and I am very keen to see what the new EPs and F-14 game will bring to the table in terms of naval warfare. Those of you who have tried my Midway campaign will know I can force naval engagements in the WoX engine, but there is no point busting a gut to get something done when it will be served up on a plate soon enough. Having said that, look out for "Operation: Nordic Hammer," coming soon for SF2 series. Meantime, have fun in the Battle for Iceland ;-) Bug reports, complaints and Single Malt to Baltika, c/o CombatAce ;-) 18 November 2010 // ------------------------------------------------------ Click here to download this file
  20. Great campaign, I liked it a lot, one from the vaults, as it were. But we have F-89 SF2 remix from Wrench - I have been looking at for 57 FIS, of course, another Arctic campaign in the works So maybe "Long Cold Winter: SF2" is on the cards I'm sure I have the original files on a backup somewhere, if you are looking for a volunteer to update it
  21. Jumping on the bandwagon of the current EF2000 vogue. . . There are still quite a few target areas/airfields to place, I haven't even started on target placement, and there are a few tiling issues, not least the summery look given by the stock WoE tiles. Just blame global warming I'll try to get a flyable preview up and running soon. Thanks to Gepard for his excellent terrain tutorials, without which this mod, etc etc Cheers all
  22. Polar Glory inbound, oh yes (Red Flyable Only, for the first round anyways )
