Many thanks to him for granting permission to use his work for this mod. The mod is meant as a tribute to the first jet fighter India acquired and manufactured under license in India. It was 45 Squadron's Vampires that went into action on 01 Septmber 1965 in a valiant attempt to stop Pakistan's suprise attack that marked opening day of the 1965 war. Four valiant Vampire pilots lost their lives that fateful day in that brave attempt. Tthe Vampires were slightly successful in slowing down the Pakistani thrust. Contrary to Pakistani propoganda that the Vampires were pulled out of service the day after the Vampire losses, 45 and 220 Squadron's Vampires continued flying interediction sorties through the war. Based on Tracker's superbly detailed Alouette III model, I plan to make the HAL Chetak(as it was called in Indian service), for the Indo-Pak mod. It served with all four wings of the Indian defence forces... 1. Army(SAR/CAS) 2. Navy(SAR, Anti-ship) 3. Air Force(SAR/CAS) 4. Coast Guard(SAR) While the model and the cockpit are simply awesome, the FM needs a lot of work. You can't control the pitch on the helicopter and it is virtually impossible to fly. Can some FM expert please look at the data.ini and make it more controllable? -

The Atlantique incident On 10 Aug 99 at 10:51 hrs IST, an IAF ground radar picked up an aircraft track inside Sindh region of Pakistan near Badin, approaching the Indo-Pakistan international border (IB) on a South-Easterly course. Two MiG-21 fighter interceptors of No.45 Squadron, which were on operational readiness at the IAF base at Naliya in Kutch, were brought to a higher state of scramble alert as the track approached the IB. When the track crossed the international border, both the interceptors were scrambled. The MiG leader makes radar contact between 10-15 km range with the intruder. Both interceptors visually sight the intruder and identify it as an Atlantique of the Pakistani Navy. MiG leader closes in to 300 meters of the Atlantique, on his right, intending to formate on him and signal him visually and, if possible, communicate with him on radio to direct him to land at the nearest IAF base. As MiG leader was jockeying into position, the Atlantique turned into him in an aggressive evasive attempt. This was a hostile act. When the intruder turned into Mig leader in an obvious attempt to throw him off and make a dash for the border, on clearance from the fighter controller, he maneuvers his fighter for a missile launch on the PN Atlantique to prevent him escaping. On being cleared to fire by the ground radar, he fires an R-60 IRM at the Atlantique. The missile hits the intruder on the port side engine which immediately catches fire and starts smoking. Confirming of the kill Landing back at base, and being welcomed by jubiliant airmen and squadon mates. -

It is more or less complete, except for minor, but important, tweaks i.e pilot seating positions, weapon attachment types( since the nation has been set to India and IndianNavy) I am too lazy to fix those. If you are willing, I will be glad to send the entire package over to you, my friend. Flight issues, It is fun to fly one you know where and how to use the thrust vector and fly within the speed limit. Once you overspeed, there's no way of controlling the helo. -

The IL-38s are more than 35 years old now. They were commissioned by the Navy in 1977/78. The P-8 is flying with INAS 312 "Albatross" - meant to supplement/replace the Tu-142s of the squadron. Don't knows what will be the fate of the Bears once all the P-8Is arrive. The 38s, which were upgraded with the Sea Dragon suite and re-designated as IL-38SD, are flying with INAS 315 "Winged Stallions". -

Yes, "ARK" stands for Arakkonam Naval Air Station. The Tu-142s too have the same tail code. The IL-38SDs & Do-228s based at Dabolim Naval Station have "DAB" tail codes. -

Eventhough the LCH is based on the Dhruv plaform, but is a completely different bird and a twin seat dedicated "light" attack chopper. LCH: More pics of the Rudra( Dhruv WSI): -

The Rudra is the weaponised attack variant of the Dhruv with a front cannon, weapon plyons( it will retain its troop carrying capability). Before it got its name (Rudra - which means God of Tempest in Hindi), it was known as the Dhruv WSI(Weapon Systems Intergrated) A pic from Aero India 2013: Sarang(IAF's helo demo team) Dhruvs flying the background, Rudra on display: -

IAF's First Upgraded MiG-29s Arrive MiG Statement: JSC Russian Aircraft Corporation MiG (part of the United Aircraft Corporation) began to supply upgraded MiG-29 fighters to the Indian Air Force. The first three aircraft are delivered to India by An-124 transport aircraft. Modernization significantly extends the range of tasks performed by MiG-29. The upgraded aircraft, along with increased capability to fight air targets, acquire the ability to strike ground (surface) moving and stationary targets with precision weapons by day and night and in any weather conditions. [upgrade deal signed in March 2008]. The maiden flight of the upgraded MiG-29UPG took place on February 4, 2011 at the airdrome of the Flight Research Institute named after M.M. Gromov. The contract provides repair and modification of aircraft for the purpose of extending the life up to 3,500 flight hours and service life - up to 40 years. Developments of the RAC MiG can significantly extend the life cycle of MiG-29, which was proven by the experience of modernization in a number of countries. General Director of JSC RAC MiG Sergei Korotkov said: "The aircraft delivery, upgraded in Russia - is the first step in the contract execution for the modernization of a large fleet of the Indian Air Force MiG-29s. We are getting ready for the second phase of work, which provides modernization of fighters in India in close cooperation with the Indian industry". -
