The Indian Chetak project
ghostrider883 replied to ghostrider883's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Chetak from No. 201 Indian Army Aviation Corps Squadron. This is the modern day camo that is sported by Army Aviation HAL Dhruvs too. These Chetaks are being/or already have been replaced by HAL Dhruvs in transport and Gunship (Dhruv WSI) roles in Army Aviation inventory. Indian Army Green: Indian Navy(Early). The first Navy Chetaks came in this paint scheme and were deployed on the carrier Vikrant(SAR duties) and on the frigates in the MATCH role. The letter "W" means the chopper was deployed on the INS Viraat( "W" is Viraat's code) ^^ I love this angle. I have seen the Chetak from this angle so many times from my house . Coast Guard and Navy Chetaks used to fly by quite frequently. Now its replacement, HAL Dhruvs, fly by, but not so frequently. I miss listening to the Chetak's sweet sounding engines . -

I believe Florian has dedicated Indian Navy Sea King variants[ASW/ASuW Mk.42A/B & Mk.42C(Ride of IN's Specops MARCOS)] in the works I have been tying hard to get rid of this black part on top of the cockpit for the Torpedo carrying Indian navy Chetak( the part remains after removal of the AS.11/12 guidance sight), but no luck so far. In my attempt to get a hint of that part name, I have been translating words, at snail's pace, in the OUT file from Spanish to English. That's some way to learn Spanish !!!!!! Any suggestions for the part name would be helpful Amigos . -
Mirage IIIEP Pakistan Air Force
ghostrider883 posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Based on Mirage Factory's French Mirage IIIE. Skin is a re-work of ludo.m54's skin. Skin and the mod(for the Indo-Pak install) is meant to represent Pakistani Mirage IIIEPs that took part in the 1971 Indo-Pak War and has a complete decals set for all 18 PAF Mirage IIIEPs. No. 5 Sqdn PAF "Falcons" flew the Mirage IIIEP in the 1971 war( 18 airframes) Now a couple questions. 1) Can the antenna marked as "A" be somehow removed using some ini trick? It is the only antenna that was not present on PAF Mirage IIIEPs. 2) Can the bulge marked as "B" be removed? If it can be, it can be used to represent Ex-RAAF Mirage IIIOs that the PAF acquired in the 90s. -

Bullseye Otto . Now that top portion has been removed, another part needs to be deleted, looks like some sort of stand for the Sight. The reason I thought it was a searchlight was because if you switch on a/c lights, it throws a beam of light, illuminating the area infront of the helo . Unfortunately, there are no clear pics of IAF Chetaks having that Sight. In the pics I have of Indian Chetaks carrying AS.11s, it is unclear that the sight exists on Indian Chetaks. But, I guess it is imperative to have that sight to fire AS.11s. So,I will not delete the sight for Indian AF & Army Chetaks. However, the torpedo carrying Navy and SAR CG Chetaks, for sure do not have it. So the sight needs to be deleted completely for Navy Chetaks, including teh stand shown in the screenie above. Thanks again Otto . -

. Tiger Hill, Here I come!!!!! I tried it and these are the lines I added to the data.ini . . . . Component[008]=DeleteSearchlight . . . . [DeleteSearchlight] ParentComponentName=Proa ModelNodeName=Bulbo_Faro_Aterrizaje DestroyedNodeName=Bulbo_Faro_Aterrizaje DetachWhenDestroyed=TRUE HasAeroCoefficients=FALSE The light is still there on the model. Or am I doing something wrong ? Indian AF Chetaks: -
The Indian Chetak project
ghostrider883 replied to ghostrider883's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
The Indian Navy SAR/MATCH Chetak[iNAS 321 "Angels"(SAR) & INAS 331(ASW)] is ready with an Indian Navy skin, decals & serial numbers of all 86 Indian Navy Chetaks. It is flyable provided you use Thrust Vectoring and rudders(Tail rotor) correctly, and fly it slow. Exceed 100 knots and it becomes hard to control. One question to Spanish speakers on CA and those who know how to delete parts using data.ini. How to remove the searchlight on top of the cockpit? Since the OUT file has Spanish words, I thought it would be best if someone with knowledge of Spanish could help in pinpointing the part name of the searchlight. Moving onto AS-11 carrying Indian AF Chetaks now . -

The Knowledge Base was painfully put together for newbies and veterans reference alike, with questions exactly like these. There is no harm in spending a precious few moments going through the KB rather than asking the same questions that have been asked, and answered before!!!! -

The Indian Chetak project
ghostrider883 replied to ghostrider883's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Yeah, it is quite impossible to fly. It simply doesn't want to pitch up or pitch down, try using the rudder and its goes into a flat spin. Wingmen too end up going into crazy flatspins. Its a pity that it doesn't fly as well as Marcelo's Mi-8 or Dels Apaches because its such a wonderfully detailed model. Anyway, I will try & finish off the Indian Army, AF, Navy, CG skins and hopefully one day the FM issues will get fixed for this model. -

I have set it to use Diego's helicopter pilots. Indian Navy Shipborne MATCH Chetak(MArine Torpedo Carrying Helicopter). Need to add serial number and squadron decals. P.S. just can't stopping drooling over the attention to detail that Tracker had put into this model. -

December 1971, an Indian Air Force C-47 successfully ditching near an Indian Army base near Amritsar after being attacked by PAF F-86s and subsequently being saved by IAF Hunters. It was on a airdrop mission near the frontlines when it was intercepted by marauding PAF Sabres. The C-47 crew would not have made it, had it not been for the Indian Hunters that were returning home after a deep strike mission in Pakistan. -

I must thank you for making this mod and being patient enough to listen to my constant nagging about Indo-Pak mods . Indian(and Pakistani) air power has never been so accurately represented in any sim, thanks to you and the the guys who put in their hard work in making those wonderful models . Cheers to you and to the Bear-F for its unblemished safety record in Indian Navy service -

That looks like the old Harrier FRS.51( based on the FRS.1). Wasn't there a new FRS.1 model in the Falklands mod? http://combatace.com/index.php?autocom=downloads&showfile=7626 -
Mirage 2000 Foreign Operator Pack (Updated)
ghostrider883 replied to ace888's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Yeah and locally some dumb bombs that were converted to LGBs using Israeli guidance kits. These were used successfully during the Kargil War. I was thinking on dedicated weapons pack for the Indo-Pak mod with weapons used only by India and Pakistan, and attachment types on each weapon set to India or Pakistan. Aircraft data.ini set to India or Pakistan. Would that work? Israeli Rafael Derbys and Pythons on IN LUSH Harriers . You wouldn't have one of those in the works would ya ? -
