  1. Guess who's birthday it is?

Happy Birthday Kevin. Wish you all the happiness in the world.
  2. Its better use the one which came long with the model. IAF mirage piolts use the same gear that French MIrage pilots use( same helmet) If you are planning to make a dedicated Mirage 2000TH mod, please make suyre to have a 2000TH(late) as well- the one with the fixed refuelling probe. These THs were used in the 1999 Kargil War to bomb Pakistani positions using LGBs.
  3. With the release of the Indo-Pak terrain( with thanks to Wrenchesh ), time to revive my interest in skinning Indian MiGs WIP for paulo's IAF MiG-21bis Vikram mod. No.3 Sqdn "Cobras" & IAF Ghost grey scheme
  4. Upgraded Indian AF MiG-29B - First Pic!

    Translated from http://www.take-off.ru/news/107-news-1-2-2011/559--29upg-2-2011#addcomments
  5. Upgraded Indian AF MiG-29B - First Pic!

Yes they do. All IAF aircraft now have a dull grey scheme. The retrofitted spine and some other parts have the yellow primer painted on it. These upgraded MiG-29s( 3 squadrons) would have( and will undergo) undergone airframe strengthening to make it serve in the IAF for another 10-15 years. It would be interesting too see how they upgrade those old MiG-29UBs.
  6. FIRST PHOTOS: First Flight Of Indian C-130J Super Hercules
  7. First Flight of India's C-130J-30s

IAF inducts first C-130J-30 Serial no.: KC-3801 Sqdn : newly raised No. 77 "Veiled Vipers" Video here:
  8. Today the IAF Mirages don't carry any sqdn markings. After the 1999 Kargil War, sqdn markings were removed from all aircraft. Earlier they used to sport sqdn markings under the cockpit. You may use sdqn decals if you wish from this file http://combatace.com/files/file/10525-sf2-indian-air-force-mirage-2000th-skins-for-amokfloos-mirage-2000d/
  9. P-8I in the markings on INAS 312( IN's Tu-142M Squadron)
  10. It'd be great fun to do this over the Himalayas if the PAF F-16 turns out to be an MF one
  11. Disabling the speedbrake animation does the trick in SF2(the landing gear shows up) but it is baffling why the animations don't work as advertised in SF2. The speedbrake/landing gear combo work perfectly in WoE.
  12. The Maritime Strike Jag  .
  13. This is going to be great. In the wars, there were many missions where goods trains were attacked.. Some planes were shot down while attacking railway stations. Great work
  14. MiG-35 stalls in Indian fighter tender contract

The chances of Gripen winning the tender is very remote...too many foreign components in it which are probe to sanctions. I don't think neither F-16 nor F-18 would win it because of recent political developments. The whole deal will end up contradicting itself. As Saywhat suggested, this new a/c was supposed to be a replacement for MiG-21s and was supposed to be in the medium weight class. F-18, Eurofighter and Rafale fall into the heavy class. If either of three wins, we might as well have gone in for the same number of Su-30MKIs(at a far lesser price). Gripen fits in perfectly as MiG-21's replacement but will never win the tender.
  15. Chinese fighter jets train over Tibet

Probably to counter the recent Indian move of deployment of a full strength Su-30 sqdn at an airbase near the Chinese border.
  16. True, the Mirage 2000 was in fact very close to being ordered directly from France instead of the MMRCA tender. That being said, as per reports, After flight evaluations, the Rafale & Eurofighter have been shortlisted by the IAF for its MMRCA requirements. F-18,F-16, MIG-35 and Gripen have been eliminated due to various political and technical reasons. So, unless Obama manages to convince the Indian PM to select the F-18(highly unlikrly after the sale of new F-16s and AMRAAMs to Pakistan to supposedly fight the Taliban/Al Qaeda Air Force ), we will soon be seeing the Rafale or Eurofighter in Indian colours.
  17. Circumstances are similar to the Air India Boeing 737 crash some time back in Mangalore. May the victims RIP .
  18. A Gurkha is disciplined for beheading

Good on the Gorkhas. Pigs like the Taliban deserve such beheadings. The Indian Army has a regiment and these guys are known for their bravery and valour. They have won battle honours in all the wars India has fought. The sight of the Khukri is enough to strike fear into enemy's heart. There are instances where Gurkha soldiers have jumped into enemy trenches and killed enemy soldiers with their Khukris after their ammo ran out..
  19. The actual MiG-29K and KUB look very similar. MiG-29K(8XX series): MiG-29KUB(6XX series):
  20. The Tejas(navy) Prototype 1 rolls out. Notice the drooping nose and different landing gear. A proud day for our country
  21. LCA Tejas(navy) is here

The single seater Naval fighter will have a drooping nose as well. Some of features of "Naval LCA Version": * Aircraft Carrier operation with ski-jump and arrested landing * Nose drooped for better cockpit vision * Additional aerodynamic features like LEVCON and fore plane to reduce Carrier landing speed * Maximum take off weight from carrier – 12.5 tons * External store carrying capacity from carrier– 3.5 tons * Strengthened Fuselage * Stronger undercarriage due to higher sink rate * Arrestor Hook for deck recovery * Fuel dump system This is the Air Force trainer variant: When ready, it will be ale to carry all sorts of weapons. It has already carried our R-73 firings, gun firing, dumb & guided bomb drops.
