  1. Get your facts right. It was a term coined by the dumb print and electronic media of our country and not Indian pilots. Indian pilots still love and respect the aircraft as it is the aircraft that serves as the supersonic jet trainer before pilots get transferred to other fighter sqdns. Read the article linked in my sig.
  2. I am sorry for the comment I made about morality in the Photo-real terrain thread. I am really sorry for it. I apologise to the community and it won't ever happen again. Sorry once again.
  3. If one is making better looking models than these so-called ultra-realistic, supported by imaginary 3rd world pilots, "super-duper"payware models and giving them for free, wouldn't one be upset and discouraged if models inferior in quality and research were being sold for $$$$ ? Its just a natural reaction rather than "disgusting". Besides, what moral right do these payware guys have to enjoy freeware models ?
  4. Indian Canberra B(I) 58s from No .5 Sqdn "Tuskers" saw action during the 1961 Congo Ops under the UN flag. These bombers were in fact flying as fighter bombers. They were denied use of bombs and just carried the belly gun pack as its armament. They attacked Katangan airflields and destroyed several Katangan AF aircraft including a couple of the much dreaded Fouga Magisters. The Canberras flew as escorts to UN transport and also flew CAS sorties in support of UN gound forces. I read that along with Swedish J-29s , Iranian and Ethiopian F-86s were involved in the 1961 Ops. Indian involvment in Congo and other African countries continues till date with Indian AF Mi-25s, Mi-17s and Chetak helos , Indian Army infantry and armour taking part actively in support of the UN.
  5. looks promising Zur. Keep up the good work.
  6. This is exactly what I've been trying to say since this whole payware thing cropped up. good to know that somoene out there agrees .
  7. Nope. Jaguars along with MiG-27s form the backbone of IAF's offensive strike fleet. These upgraded Jags can be considered as the ultimate version of the Jaguar family. Note presence of ESM bumps on the nose, deletion of starboard cannon, new LRMTS window. A newly manufactured Jaguar IS: Pics of upgraded Jaguar IS(JS-210)
  8. and India still continues to manufacture single seat and dual seat Jaguars
  9. Malaysia takes delivery of first two of its 18 Su-30MKMs(M52-01 and M52-02). Malaysian SU-30MKM rollout video Another two Su-30MKMs would be delivered in June using the Antonov AN-124 transport aircraft to the RMAF base in Gong Kedak, Kelantan. Malaysian SU-30MKMs are smilar to Indian Su-30MKIs exceprt that the Israel equipment on the MKI has been repleaced by Russian,Indian and French systems HAL, which manfactures SU-30MKIs, will most proabably be providing spares support. Malaysian Air Force officers were in India some months back to see Su-30MKI operations. Imprssed by the performance of Su-30MKI,the Malaysians ordered their Su-30s in a config similar to Indian MKIs(TVC, Canards etc). Malaysian and Indian Su-30s are the most advanced Su-30 variants in the world today.
  10. Hi soulfreak, I am not sure but I think it requires hex-editing a existing fuel tank and create a "new" fuel tank woth appropriate re-named bmps and lods. May be a weapons guru can help you out better.
  11. On behalf of Team Ajeet, I am putting a request for someone to re-paint the gauges in Mago's MiG-21F cockpit from Russian to English. If anyone can do it, please do let us know. We will let you know what needs to be done. Thanks
  12. B-2

    very nice Marcelo.
  13. The Gnats in Hot Shots were T.1s, right? I saw the movie long time back. What a pair these two made during their hey days
  14. Thanks Dave. Its Marcelo & starfighter2 who did most of the work . Marcelo made these excellent models and its really beautiful Indian,Finnish & Yugoslav skins. starfighter2 made superb and accurate FMs. The aircraft's performance against its opponents is exactly as desired, specially against its good old friend, the PAF F-86 I just made a few decals . Cockpit is by Mago & Marcelo. Marcelo has modelled Gnat's unique speedbrake and landing gear system accurately. The Gnat's landing gear would deploy in a semi-retracted position to work as its speedbrake. Though there were some problems faced with this, thanks to RussoUk2002, USAFMTL and Sony Tuckson's help, it was resolved Any mention of the Gnat would be incomplete without this. An IAF Gnat punishing a PAF F-86F Its a real blast to see F-86s disintegrating in front of you . I would like to thank Mr. P.V.S Jagan Mohan for his answers to my questions and his Bharat-Rakshak website, from where I found most of the information on the Gnat and Ajeet. His book "Indo- Pak Air War of 1965" is an excellent source as well.
  15. Actually I think i found this pic at BR, but can't find the link to it . Its shows a post-1971 war three tone camo Su-7 doing RATO from Bareilly AFS. Apparently the Su-7 was quite useless in terms of range. There were cases where Su-7s suffered fame-outs due to fuel starvation on landing approach after missions. In IAF service, it was a made to perform roles which it was not designed for ie. low level CAS. Many Su-7s fell to AAA while doing this, they made repeated passes over enemy troop concentrations and some of the Su-7 pilots paid with thier lives unfortunately. But it was robust as well, capable of taking punishment. It was one of the few aircrafts of the IAF which survived a direct missile hit(the tail section of one such a/c is on display at a Delhi museum.). A flight of Su-7s from IAF's elite TACDE squadron performed accurate airstrikes at night making the PAF(and a famous American officer) believe that these mission were flown by Russian pilots and that they were guided onto their targets by a Tu-126 Moss AWACS. THe aircraft had a relatively short service life in the IAF when compared to other aircraft of that era. Our Canberras(PR.57/67/B(I)58/T.Mk.54s of No. 106 SPR Sqdn) were retired just a week back after 50+ years of service with the same sqdn.
  16. Nope, some of our Su-7s used them certainly , specially when Su-7 detachments were deployed in forward airbases with semi-prepared runways. I have a pic of an IAF Su-7 performing a RATO-assisted take-off somewhere on my HD. Will try and find it.
  17. Very nice Edward. Will try and see if I can paint the Hurricane II in Indian AF colours. Some Indian AF sqdns flying Hurricanes, Vultee Vengeance and Lysanders flew in the Burma campaign.
  18. Mig-21

Are you sure the Su-7 had such a thing? During the 1971 war, an Indian Sqdn Ldr flying the Su-7 was shot down over Pakistan and he became a POW. During captivity, he was interrogated several times by Pakistanis as well as Brig. Gen. Chuck Yaeger about Su-7s bombing sight and how the Indian Su-7s accurately bombed Pakistani targets so accurately day and night. The pilot kept on denying that the Su-7 was equipped with special instruments for accurate bombing, yet his captors kept on questioning him. Frustrated, the Su-7 quipped - the reason for the accurate bombing was the Su-7's navigation instruments and two Mk.II Eyeballs installed in an Indian skull !!!!.
  19. Exactly. There is a video on the IAF exploits in 65/71 war. It shows a B(I)58 firing its rockets from a SNEB rocket pod. Also, I have seen the canberra carrying dual rocket pods on it s wings pylon. Let me get that vid cap for you
  20. PAF B-57s could certainly carry rockets. On 6th September 1965, PAF B-57s attacked Jamnagar AFS , they attacked with bombs, guns and rockets.
  21. Kevin, The Indian B(I)58 was the Indian version of RAF's B(I)8 bomber. The Indian version was the same as RAF version except that Indian version had a tail facing Orange Putter RWR(ajunaidr's model has this RWR). A mistake that ajunaidr has done on EE Canberras is that he has put four plyons on each wing, whereas the EE Canberras had just one pylon in the wing(also the pylon is much smaller in size) and on that pylon, bombs, rockets could be loaded. I am not really sure whether this holds true for the Martin Canberras as well. Also, ther was no Canberra B.2 in Indian service. They were actually B.66s(bought after the 1965 war), Indian version of the RAF B(I)6, which again could carry the ventral gunpack As for your Gunpack question. The B(I)8/58 could carry a ventral 4x20mm gunpack. The detachable gunpack was carried outside the bomb-bay, as shown in the pic. However, when the gunpack was carried no bombs could be loaded in the bomb bay. The wing mounted guns must be removed. The EE Canberras never had them. In the weps pack, check out Bunyap's 4000-lb Block buster bomb that was carried in the bomb bay of the EE Canberra. In 1961, when Canberra B(I)58s went to Congo in support of UN, they carried only guns, no bombs were carried as UN did not allow them. Indian Canberras managed to attack and destory Katangan Air Force installations and aircraft just with their guns. Until a few years ago, Indian Hinds were forbidden from carrying bombs and rockets, they could only use thir cannons in Congo while flying escort for UN Helicopters. If you need any more info, let me know .I will be glad to help. P.S. BR is working fine
  22. Great to see you back Rob. Was looking for your Indian Navy Sea Hawks for quite some time now. Downloading them now :).
