Here's a link to some pretty good shots of a modern Albatross replica in the air. SimHQ Airshow Thread -
They look like illustrations rather than photos.

When I finally went to TrackIR + TH2Go at 3840 x 1024 it was the first time flying combat sims when I could actually achieve enough situational awareness to enjoy playing. The tension and suspense is still there, but I'm no longer getting killed constantly by all those irritatingly invincible unseen enemies that seem to pop out of nowhere.

I love the exaggerated perspective... Taken from this link -
It's probably been asked before, but I never bought HITR. Will it be needed first in order to upgrade to P4?

Over on the CFS3 side we saw a number of AI releases this past summer that went a long way toward fixing the discrepancy. It carries added weight to compensate for the fact that AIs in CFS3 are not "calculated" as having either a fuel load or pilot. This goes some way to addressing that by adding extra weight using a custom made dummy pylon. I'm sure the same could be done in OFF.

Okay, so it can't be a normal choice as one of the squadron aircraft.

So how do you actually get this to show up in BHAH?

This points out one of the cardinal rules of being a historian of technology. Don't assume they knew why they were doing what they were doing. It worked well enough, and that was that. The fact that this research was done in the early 20s shows that they didn't really know the relative properties prior to that. It's fair to conclude that their decision to use castor oil in WWI rotary engines was based on various assumptions about what to choose, (not unlike how we've all been postulating about their reasons) and not based on definitive data. Another example of this was the use of Pennsylvania gasoline for aviation fuel after 1917 because it had a higher specific gravity which they assumed meant it was higher quality than the light California gas. It turned out that the knock resistance of the California gas was a much better indicator of quality, but tests to prove that would have to wait for the inter-war years to be developed. In the meantime the Allies blamed the US for sending them our crap aviation fuel, and we felt slighted thinking we had sent them our best.

I started to list everything I've done over the years, but it sounded too much like bragging. Let's just say I'm a bit of a renaissance man and leave it at that. At the moment I'm working as a Development Engineer for a company that makes accessories and chemicals for the concrete construction industry. -
Yes, they were insane to fly these planes in WWI
MajorMagee replied to OvS's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I loved the one they had in the Torchwood episode "Out of Time". Very Art Deco looking plane. Was the one you flew in from the 30's or from the WWII production run? -
Dawn Patrol Rendezvous If anyone happens to be coming to this part of the world over the September 25-27 weekend it's well worth the time to visit us.

A little too much WWI realism for the fly-in. Really rotten flying weather here this weekend.

My Grandfather on my mother's side was a motorcycle courier. I believe he got gassed somewhere along the line, and was invalided out. Ultimately, drank himself to death by the time he was 40, so not all casualties of that war died on the field of battle. -
Sorry, I was traveling in CA last week for business, and I got home to a computer that blew a monitor, and trashed it's operating system in a power surge. I'm running again, but still have a lot of things left to restore. I don't know that area all that well, but I seem to remember there being something in the strip mall across the street from Wright State.
