F-4S Canopies In SF2....
Crab_02 replied to Piecemeal's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
As stated in my post. BE KIND - this aircraft was released in 2004 - there was no shadow made, nor was the model checked/fixed to make one (back then one had to make another lod) And the Slimers were the hottest thing going back in '04!!!!!! The Slimers are part of the LOD and self illiminating - one SHOULD be able to bind the to a landing light so they will shut off with the gear up. Speaking of which - do any of the new patches/SF2 allow the AI not to have the formation lights on?? IIRC last time I was flying the Oct2008b patch - some of the other flights had lights on... thought this was addressed in the past somewheres... -
F-4S Canopies In SF2....
Crab_02 replied to Piecemeal's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
The F-4S Late is model wise an F-4J with the E slatted wing and ECM bumps. (model started as the TW F-4E) The F-4S Early (from C5 site) is the J model with the ECM bumps painted on. (which was made first as an S) Since wwwwwaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy back when the S was released - things have been added: new wheels and gear cockpit mirrors refuel probe wing fold and hinges RAT numerous other UV map improvements (corrected by Sundowner) Ant, btw we might need some updated Ferris Schemes!!! -
F-4S Canopies In SF2....
Crab_02 replied to Piecemeal's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
I think the tga required is the stock SF, WoV, WoE canopy glass tga. Does the aricraft have an F-4S.out file (or simular name?)? Check there for the name of the .tga the canopy uses. I do not have SF2 yet and do not have access to my machine atm. I can look when I am off shift. Please be kind - that aircraft was released a long time ago.... Does anyone think it should be upgraded to Oct2008b patch and then SF2? OR should this aircraft be upgraded? -

I think the N will need to be redone... thin wing issue - remember this model was/is sourced from the E model. -
excellent. Don, I have some file coversheets I need to send you (powerpoint format), which follow this format.

IIRC (my resources are being shipped to Germany ATM) he flew 300 as in the YAP mission. I did research, using several sources for which aircraft were still active at the time of his mission - but the YAP mission set used the Oriskany on several mission so I varied the BuNos for the aircraft on deck. I did make a list and was 80% accurate for aircraft that were not confirmed lost or destroyed for this timeframe (Oct '67) but that data is on my other computer. Also, I think the Osprey A-4 units book has some data. -

Growing up in ND, I used to see Erectors every day, along with PKs and maintence trucks from GFAFB. Remember, prior to us loosing the -52, Bone and Minuteman XXXs - ND was third most powerfull 'country' in world (if we could have seceded) .... and as stated - Minot does not need anymore publicity.... jeeze bad enough spending a winter there!!!

Vietnam-era ECM pod textures
Crab_02 replied to mppd's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
I had ALQ-87s in game BEFORE ECM was even implemented in the sim. then the ALQ-71s came out in WoV .... anyway the -87 should be in the '06 weapons pack, along with several others. issues with ECM pods - number of 'cans' and which type of pod. -
I was in Srebrenica in Summer of '98. There was nothing left - NOTHING. Not one f*cking brick left standing. In Iraq in '05 - I did not see anything close to what I saw there... Death is too good for this B@stard.

Weapondata entry for rearward dispensing CBU
Crab_02 replied to mppd's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
I did one for an F-100 a few years back but never released it. 19 spring loaded tubes w/I forget how many cbu... I think I tried 180 facing... then made them uber retarded so they would fall off the launcher... I would have to dig in a pile of CDs in some box to find the back up - AFAIK there is no way to make them work as in RL. -

the D nose dealio should be more rounded off on the bottom. how are you going to get the underwing and gear doors to work? -
Calling Crab_02 and Geo!
Crab_02 replied to Wrench's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Sorry, Kevin. This model IS in fact a MF product. I was involved in the model work for the late model F4Us - not so much with the -5/5NL. Sundowner was painting them also. The MF has the late model Corsairs (-4/4B/5/5NL/7 and AU-1) in development - as you have shown here - BPAo has asked that they not be released in the current state - AND the models will get a full update and be finished in the future. So watch for these and more MF projects in the future. v/r Crab_02 -
WW2 Nightfighter Campaign
Crab_02 replied to Tecumseh's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Prop Heads Forum
there was an Uhu addon aircraft and mission set for CFS1 out there I thought was pretty decent for the time... I added every German type I could find - Ju-88s, Bf-110s, TA-154s, modded several types of Rusatz for the Uhu... concur - a Night Fighter specific sim would be great - Blenheim, but even better w/Defiant.... then flip side bomb with Wellington and Hampton!!! -
AIM-4D carried by F-4D and E
Crab_02 replied to mppd's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
the heater rails are part of the inner pylons - also the AIM-4 uses a differnet LAU adapter. I did make one up for a D mode, but it is imcomplete.... MikeD pm me pls. -
I see the thread was locked. sooner or later the lad will deploy - maybe not into a combat zone persay - ie getting shot at - but still deployed. fewer then let's say 'bout 25% deployed in either operation are going 'into harms way' or outside the wire. a mortar round could hit the hooch while in the shower... or you could be run over by a truck while changing a tire on the side of the road. 'harms way' needs to be defined. Hell, you make buku money deployed... duh.

F-4G/E-35 Nose gear steering weirdness
Crab_02 replied to kazamashin's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
KS, it is not linked correctly, as I remember it has to be relinked and animation set in a different order in max for it to work with the oleo sissors moving with the shock piston. short answer - needs to be fixed via max. -
