  1. Thanks, folks! knew there was a way, memory is going i recon! savagcl
  2. I have a new gaming system and i'm using HDMi for a 2560x1900 monitor. Would i see any difference if i used Display Port instead of HDMI thanks in advance savagcl
  3. The Raptor and the P-47 went into the SF2 folder just great but i havent had any luck since then. 1. Tried 4/5 different AC and all it did was create a new folder (with the same name) in SF2 but never ask to overwrite or replace or merge the new AC. Not sure what your definition of "Drop In" is? I've tried a drag and drop and copy / paste or just copying specific files to the correct folder neither plane showed up when i run SF2 programs. I've tried: Ju87A, JU88A4 (V2k) package, LA-9-11, sf2_kaw_f4u5_corsair_pak all in SF2, none worked. Where am i messing up? 2. I changed all the start/stop dates to 1900-2050 in all the installs of SF2. So, I should be able to drop any plane into any of the SF2 installs (Europe, Vietnam, etc) right? Thank you, savagcl PS: PTO = Pacific Theater Operations? MTO = ?
  4. Yea, my fault. Been away for quite a while and the memory is the first to go when you get old! thanks Admin. savagcl
  5. Win10 and SF2 working great on my new sys. No problems except re-mapping joy stick. Getting 60 frames per second (fraps) on a 2560x1900 monitor with HDMI. Might get more FPS if i turned off v-sync in nvidia CP. SFP1 is a bummer tho, with win10 (so far). I'm trying diff things. Hope i figure whats wrong. Running im compat vista now. Got to try compat with win7. Love that SFP1, had over 80 planes (not made by me) an it worked great with win7/8.1 savagcl
  6. I'm new to SP2. Had SFP1 all figured out. Trying to get the F-22 Raptor to show as a flyable AC in SP2 Vietnam. I copied it to C:\users\me\saved games\thirdwire\strikefighters2 vietnam\objects\aircraft (and it does show there). The Effects, Sounds, Weapons and decals are in the strikefighters2 vietnam folder. Question: Does these folders (Effects, Sounds, Weapons and decals) also go in the aircraft folder or in the objects folder? confused, and thanks, savagcl
  7. Got it! Raptor and P-47 both flyable. Thanks to you guys. Now i just have to let it sink into my head Appreciate the help, savagcl
  8. Hey, Wrench, Glad you're still hanging around. Installed a lot of your planes/screens/etc for SFP1. Enjoyed them all. I will review the above references and post back when i find where i'm messing up. Thanks, Guys, savagcl
  9. Geary, I did manage to get SFP1 and Korea working but- cannot get any mods to work in SFP1 and korea will sometimes crash when closing. I had almost every plane, mods and new ones in sfp1, gonna miss them. I'll keep working at it tho. Best settings was XP, SP3 for me. savagcl
  10. ACTD, I just bought a IBuyPower gaming system iBUYPOWER - Desktop - Intel Core i7 - 16GB Memory - 1TB Hard Drive + 240GB Solid State Drivefor my personal use. My other 2 systems, gateway (gaming) and an old HP all have win10. Should have kept win8.1 since SF series had no problems. I volunteer to do PC repairs for a senior citizens computer club and sometimes they recycle their older PC's. Maybe i can a recycle one with win7. Then if can repair or soup it up enough, i'll use it for SFP games. savagcl
  11. SFP1/WOV/Korea/First Eagles - all have problems with win10! SFP1 initial install does work but the minute any Aircraft, weapons or guns are added, it will crash to the desktop. I do the initial install from CD, works ok. I have a full backup from win8.1 with about 75 planes and weapons and guns. As soon as i copy/paste from the backup to SFP1 folder in win10, it will crash to the desktop. WOV dont even get past the splash screen, or splash screen is so big i cant select any buttons and no mouse anyway. Basically First Eagles is same as WOV. I tried all compatibility modes (XP to 8.1) and changes to resolutions, no help. Had these games since they first came out. Sure hope someone finds a solution. clif
  12. Guess i'll have to find me a win7 PC also. Out of 3 games, SFP1, WOV, and First Eagles, only SFP1 will play just as a clean install. When i copy all the mods, weapons, guns into it, it crashes. WOV, clean install, is a no go at all, never even comes but does change screen resolution. First Eagles is same as WOV. Tried all resolutions from 600x800 and up to max - no change. Tried all compatibility modes from XP to 10, no luck there either. Beginning to suspect DirectX may be at least part of problem. clif
  13. Been away from this game for a while and forgot most of what i knew... I'm trying to get rid of the red/blue text showing under each object on-screen (floating text). looking through the forums turned up nothing on this subject. any help? thanks, clif
  14. Loading.wav - while waiting for an aircraft to load into the game (white loading bar on bottom of screen), I thought there was a way to add another .wav file for use during this load time.... I have a loading.wav file in the flight folder, i replaced the one that was there but it dont play at all.. How do i do this? thanks, savagcl
  15. Never planned to get or upload music. I already have what i want for music,. Just wanted to know how to replace the loading.wav with a diff wav file. Still havent come across an answer but posted the question at thirdwire (finally remembered my UID/Password). thanks
  16. well, I tried all formats - before the last update (08) it was 16 bit, stereo, 11025 Kh. but that dontwork now. I tried: mono, 8/16 bit, 2/5 channel 11025 thru 44.1 Kh stereo 8/16 bit 2/5 channel, 11025/44100 Kh So far nothing works.... Anyone know the correct settings? thanks, savagcl
  17. I had my sfp1 (XP) set to Guitar Boogie sounded great! After putting it into vista (sfp1\flight\loading.wav) i dont get any sound..... Used the same .wav format as in XP. savagcl
  18. I got the dirX installed. Re-installed SFP1 (Pre-2008). Works good under the 32-bit folder. Dont work at all under 64-bit. No biggie here, vista 32-bit is fine. But, (there's always a "But") installing the latest patch will lockup system. New weapons program - does it go inside the SFP1\Objects\ Weapons folder? Where does the Guns program reside? Thanks for the help Dave, savagcl
  19. OK, New home, new PC = missing stuff, like the program to extract a file from a .cat. Dont know where i could find a file extractor do you? So, I can't just copy the old weapons folder to the new install and run the new weapon editor against it? For the effects and aircraft - can i just copy those folders from old to new? Hope they dont have to be re-installed...... Dave, Thanks for all the help and your time, savagcl
  20. I got the 2008 update working in drive "M" from a clean install then the update. Only changes made so far: 1. Replaced the Control.ini mainly for the views. 2. Put the weapons editor in C:\windows\system. Cannot find any weapons (data or ini) in the updated, new install so the weapons editor don't find any either. Do i copy my backed-up (from previous versions) weapon data/ini into the new SFP1\Objects folder? I see in the 2008 readme that not all mods will work in latest version. Have we lost all the modded aircraft, terrains, effects and weapons???? Hope not.. Thanks Dave, savagcl PS: Dont like the blue ID tags. Got to be a way to turn them off....
  21. The update was installed to the M:\SFP1 folder . The placement of the "Strike Fighters" in Start Programs didnt change. OK, I'll re-install to the desktop then apply the update to the desktop version. Of course, removing the current install first. Thanks, savagcl
  22. Dave, I did a cleal install of SFP1 applied the latest update. I installed to drive "M". Un zipped the weapons/guns to C:\Windows\system folder. NOTE: the clean install without doing weapons or the update works good. Ran the weapons program, opening the SFP1 weapondata.ini and saved it into the SFP1 folder. Ran the game and it locked up tight, could only stop the program using the task manager. When i install, vista picks it up as a 32-bit app and places it into the Start>Programs under the 32-bit apps area. I didnt check where it is after the update is applied. Will check tonight when i try again. If i read correctly, you placed the entire SFP1 folder into the Documents folder? Why would it need to be in the Documents folder instead of where you want to place it? ?????? savagcl
  23. OK Dave, I'll try that this evening..... Standby. clif
  24. Yes, sorry, my bad. It also helps to have the correct Nation! Problem solved. thanks, savagcl
  25. Hummmm, no luck here. I updated the weapondata.ini, used the weapons editor and saved it back. Copied the object files into the weapons folder. Using the AH-1G as a test aircraft i changed both the loadout and data ini's to: Changed the loadout.ini to equal: Loadout[01].WeaponType=AGM-142A Loadout[01].Quantity=4 Loadout[01].RackType=M-299 Loadout[02].WeaponType=AGM-142A Loadout[02].Quantity=4 Loadout[02].RackType=M-299 Loadout[03].WeaponType=AGM-142A Loadout[03].Quantity=4 Loadout[03].RackType=M-299 Loadout[04].WeaponType=AGM-142A Loadout[04].Quantity=4 Loadout[04].RackType=M-299 Changed the data.ini (Weapon stations) to equal: [WeaponStation1] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=1 StationGroupID=1 StationType=EXTERNAL AttachmentPosition=-1.4710,-0.2319,1.1014 AttachmentAngles=0.0,10.0, 0.0 LoadLimit=500.0 AllowedWeaponClass=RP,RCKT,EOGR,WGR,ATR,LGR,IRM AttachmentType=USN ModelNodeName= PylonMass=25 The AGM-142 will show on the left side of the loadout screen but does not show as a selectable weapon on the right side..... Confused! Hints anyone? thanks, savagcl
