I see the airbases ok but not much else (haven't found any enemy planes yet, even in CAS or support missions (old missions)). Make sure you copy the desert.cat to the tiawan folder and rename it to Tiawan.cat. Observe the upper/lower case letters (its needed). Luck, savagkc -
Well, i pulled down the demo - all 325 megs of it. Only tried it a couple times so far. but not to impressed (may be the demo itself). Will reserve judgment until full game is available. Like i said, just a couple trial runs to date. If i see anything worth mentioning, i'll post in this forum.... savagkc

A-10 Bridge Bustin' Movie
savagkc replied to Beta's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
I dont think he'll care. lol saw some pictures (LOMAC) of a train continuing to cross a bridge after the bridge had been blown up!!!! Big open gap in the bridge and the train just kept going as tho it was still there.... Maybe taking out the bridge with a train already on it or blowing the whole bridge......... savagkc -
I saw this msg several times yesterday.. Was wondering if the site had been hacked... Glad it back to normal, and looking good too.

Sfp1 Pros And Cons
savagkc replied to Nick Tselepides's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
You make some good points about sfp1. I like it because i dont have to remember a long list of controls, just hit a few keys and your ready to go. I mean, flight simming is just a game and should be enjoyable, it should not be a task. One drawback for me is that when your missles/bombs are gone, thats it, flight over. I hate to leave a combat area when the enemy is still present. A re-load option would be nice. CFS2 was (is) a great game for me. all the mods, campaigns and missions made it work for me (thanks to all the modders who know how to do this stuff!!). I have over 200 planes for this game. I guess immersion was the key word for cfs2. CFS3 had (has) its problems but has improved greatly (still get micro jumps tho). The immersion is not there (yet, he says hopefully,). Micro jumps with a 3GHtz, 800 fsb, 1024 megmem and 128 meg graphics card!! From the demo, it looks like LOMAC is going to over burdened with controls so i'm reserving judgement on it. I still have all the above games (not the demo) on my sys and actively play them and i'm always open to try a new mod. -
Lomac Demo Discussion Thread
savagkc replied to MadJeff's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
Well, I'm not impressed at all. Just to make sure i DL'ed it twice to make sure it was Ok. Realizing its only a demo and things could be fixed but this is not a good sales tool. Turned me off completely. Suggest they lower the cockpit, the mig filled up 3/4 of the screen, or create a view with just a gunsight.. That womans voice is going to be a very quick nerve-racking thing, suggestion = lose it, or enable a turn it off switch. The planes were mostly uncontrollable for me - saitek cyborg 3d rumble stick. During the mig flight, i saw the target as it passed in front of me but couldnt find it again (it showed in external view but just couldnt find it from cockpit view. The full game may be ok but i'm not buying until i see what comments others have about it. my sys: Motherboard: Wasp Motherboard Processor: 3.0GHZ 800MHz FSB P4 NORTHWOOD HYPER THREADING PROCESSOR Memory: 1024MB Memory Module Upgrade Hard Drive: 160GB SATA Hard Drive Upgrade Monitor: 18 LCD Flat Panel Display Analog/Digital (18.1 viewable) Video Card: 128MB NVIDIA GEFORCE4 TI4200 Graphics Card Drivers Combination Drive: DVD-RAM/-R/-RW/CDRW Recorder TDK CD-RW: 52/24/48 Sound Card: SB Audigy (Twister) Sound Card w/IEEE 1394 Speakers: Boston Acoustics BA7900 5.1 Speakers (5 + Boombox) Keyboard: Multifunction PS2 Keyboard Mouse: Logitec USB Optical Mouse Floppy Drive: Panasonic 3.5 Floppy ID Drive Zip Drive savagkc -
For a one-man project!!!! Looking good, tho. Got to figure out why the slowdown on other OS's for sure (will give you a somewhat limited user base). WinME is my favorite (and only) OS for gaming. Good Show, savagkc

Cyborg 3D Force stick - help
savagkc posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Anyone using this stick???? I'm having a problem with this stick. It is "auto-configured" via the software but the dive and climb are way to slow to respond (ergo, i keep meeting the ground up close and personal). Has anyone found a way to use the stick without the auto-configure?? I'm thinking if i could turn this feature off and use the normal windows drivers it would perform better. OF course, SAITEK refuses to answer e-mails (whats new!!!). thanks, savagkc -
Cyborg 3D Force stick - help
savagkc replied to savagkc's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Finally got an answer - its possible to uninstall the saitek drivers and use only windows setup, no rumble but at least it works better. I'm watching for their new stick (fall, i think). savagkc -

2 part problem - question
savagkc posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Here is the deal (a 2 part question)- Part 1: problem: How to add a skin? I did it before but i must be missing a step. I unzip the downloaded skin, move the skin folder to the correct aircraft folder in sfp1 then i update the ini for the next texture###. And it won't show. As per readme instructions. Part 2: problem: I have 2 planes of the same type (f-86f). The original folders are named identically. What needs changing to get both f-86's to show as selectable aircraft??? Note- they are different, complete, models of the same aircraft from different builders. Just renaming the folder and changing the AircraftFullName in the ini won't do it...... I pulled down the "Huff" skin and the f-86f made by Zur. This plane shows as pure white no skin, no Huff skin either.......... What am i missing?? thanks for the help, savagkc -
2 part problem - question
savagkc replied to savagkc's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Well, I guess if i were younger i would be embarrased! I found the problem..... It was the sub-directories. When i unzip a file, i put it into a special unzipped folder not the real destination folder. Instead of just copying the filesin a skin folder, i copied the folder into itself....... i.e., sfp1 objects aircraft f-86f huff huff One to many Huffs.... sorry, red face and lose 1 attaboy (add one to the "other" column). thanks, savagkc
