New weapons pack problems
Delta6Actual replied to Delta6Actual's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
When you say patch to latest level, does that mean I use all of the patches up to the latest level, or does Oct08 supercede all of the priors. Also, how do you do #3, that is not what I was doing, I guess I didn't get that one. I just want to get all of this straight. -
New weapons pack problems
Delta6Actual replied to Delta6Actual's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Since I am starting over, I was wondering if anyone can recommend a sequence for installing patches and weapons editors/packs. I have experience doing all of this (I'm running WOE), but I've been out of the game for about a year. I don't fly any campaigns, I add some planes, like lots of weapons and blow stuff up. I have read the tutorials, but a lot of those are dated '07 or '08 that recommend files from that long ago. Also, many of the patches/weapons packs come with confusing warnings in huge letters that say: don't use this if you have that, but if you don't have that you can use this. Then you follow one sequence and it screws up another. I am not trying to criticize anyone. All of the stuff here is great, I just have a tough time getting it all to work. I know you are supposed to back stuff up but how many times can you screw up? Soooo, should I start with all the most recent stuff and leave it at that, or start at the earliest stuff and work to the most current? If anyone could suggest a course of action I would really appreciate it. -

I have decided to start over from scratch with a clean install. I'll get this right yet! -

Hey thanks! That worked! I changed some of the values to make them bigger, and now they appear! -
I don't know if this is in the right place to ask or not, but the drop down menu by where you sign in and out is always open when I am logged into the site. Is there a way to make it go away?

F-101 drop tank loadouts
Delta6Actual posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
I was wondering if there is a way to load just one of the two external tanks on the F-101B. I have seen a lot of pictures of F-101B's with just the starboard tank attached. You would think this would be unbalanced, but it was a common practice. It is even visible in the famous Voodoo scene in The Russians Are Coming! Each of those Voodoos has only the right tank attached. I guess you would have to have separate left and right fuel tank loadout stations. I have no idea how to do that, or if it is possible. Any suggestions would be appreciated! -

Thanks for the fast reply guys!!! I tried this and it works like a charm! I had tried screwing around with the StationGroupID, but couldn't get it right. Raven's method worked perfectly. Thanks again guys, that's exactly what I was looking for! -

It would still look cool in camo. I took the skin file from the RF-101G and put it on the F-101C, and it mostly fits. I'll post a pic later. -

Thanks for the replies all. I have this installed in WOE. I guess I should have mentioned that before. I tried the shadow trick from wrench and it works like a charm! USAFMTL you are correct it was WOLF257's original design, so my compliments to him for a great design! -
A very good friend in the USMC reserves was seriously injured while at annual training with his unit back in July. He was at AT in Central America when, while repelling a cliff, fell 25ft and injured his shoulder, no break, but with extensive ligament and tendon damage. Due to his injury, he now is unable to work, because his unit will not send paperwork to his employer saying he is cleared to work. His employer will not allow him to return to work until he gets clearance from his unit to return to work. It has become one enormous paperwork CHARLIE FOXTROT. He lives several hours from his unit and attached agencies. He could not see a TRI-Care doctor for months, and then, he only got an MRI to find out he is seriously injured. It has been 5 months. No surgery, no medicine, nothing. He is stuck in limbo between reserve active duty, and the civilian world, neither of which cooperate well. He is in massive pain, and in major debt. His unit corpsman is on leave, and it seems, none of his medical reports from the injury are accessible until he returns. His unit insists that he report to drill, even though he is injured, but he is unable due to lack of funds, since he is not getting paid. I suggested he talk to JAG to see what his options are. To me, it seems that since he was not injured in combat, (his unit deployed to Iraq before he joined,) he's on his own. I feel they just want to drum him out on a medical and be done with it. PLEASE do not take this as a knock on the USMC, or Navy or any aforementioned organizations. Sometimes the system just doesn't work the way it should. I just don't want to see my buddy get railroaded. No matter where it happened, it is a service related injury. He worked his ass off to get in the Marines, but now it seems they, for one reason or another don't have time to take care of one of their injured. If anyone has a similar experience, or some good advice for my friend, please post your info.

I have recently gotten back to this game, and added an L-39. For the life of me, I can't remember how to add the gun pack. I know this involves the weapon/gun editor and such. If there is a tutorial on this topic, I would appreciate being shoved in the right direction.

Tried everything, no dice. First problem was that the weaponseditor needed to be set to run in windows 95. Fixed that and it ran. Copied the info to the weapons folder, used weapons editor and saved it. Even removed the weapondata.dat file. Still no pod, I'm stumped... -
I did a system restore on my computer, and now I can't open .RAR files. I don't remember what I used before. Can anyone recommend a good .RAR can opener?

QF-100D
Delta6Actual posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
I have been tinkering with this QF-100D, and have received some great help in this project. I managed to get rid of the refueling probe (with a lot of help), got rid of the pilot but not the ejection seat, armament etc. As far as the cockpit goes, I am looking to eliminate the gunsight, as in the whole thing. The reflector plate, and other equipment and such. Once again, save for some extensive modification, is there a way to do this? This is the last question I have about this oddball bird. Any help would be appreciated. -

If you are looking for the "Drone" skin, there is one at Column5. By the way, I did a complete restore. Everything is gone. At least my computer works properly now. Getting the game back in the way I had it is really gonna suck. I have to reinstall zipdrives, installers, drivers, my stick (if I still have the disk) and such. I will undoubtedly have some questions for the community when I begin this undertaking... -

Yes Wrench! That is exactly what I was looking for! In the model I made, I did leave the ejection seat in, as you stated, they were human flyable as well. As far as the 8-track, I get it. Thanks for all of your help on this project. I am kind of afraid to upload this beast, as my computer is riddled with malware and viruses and such. I'm surprised I can even get online. When I get a new computer, I will upload this project. Thanks again for everyone's help! -
QF-100D
Delta6Actual posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Recently I have been messing around trying to make an accurate QF-100D. I have the default F-100D, and QF-100D skins from column5. I changed the data files, so there is no armament, no pilot, and so on. I can't figure out how to get rid of the refueling probe. The real ones didn't have one. I went into the drone picture/texture (don't know what its called)set and erased it from there. In the game, the probe is still there, but now its white. I couldn't find anything in the data.ini that shows the probe. Saving any advanced modifications, is there a way to do this? Had the same problem with the gun ports. Any help would be appreciated. -

What if you changed it so the NationName=SOVIET. This is how the Firebee is set up. I suppose you would have to mess around a lot with the range is set up too. -

It actually worked, No more probe! You guys rock! I'm bad with computers, and don't know how to do all that was suggested, so I improvised. I based these modifications on how they are in the ROCAF F-100. If I'm not mistaken, that model is based on the standard model of the D. I'd post a screenie, but I don't know how to. When I figure it out, I will. By the way, the gun fairings still show, is this a similar fix? At one point, I remember there was a a file for an A-7F, the after-burning prototype for the advanced A-7. I looked everywhere, but cant find it on CA. Am I dreaming this, or was the file deleted or something? -

I would support this for sure. I have all of the MF A-7's and they are all dynamite! They're so good, they are pretty much all I fly. The YA-7F would be icing on the cake!
