So after many delays i should be able to things going again. I'm using an Emachines E1352-23e this time out. Unlike my last comp it will also be my internet rig as well so i can't go as far as i want with it. Anyways, i'm wondering about the GeForce 6150SE. On my last comp running a 6100 it chugged so bad going downtown in WOV Gold that i stayed doing the Steel Tiger campaign instead of Rolling Thunder or the Linebackers. Even then CBU drops would occasionally bring everything to a virtual halt. So now i'm wondering if this one will be able to handle things much better Anyone have a clue?

As someone who has lived in Nevada, Utah, and Arizona i really enjoy the clueless comments in that thread. Everytime i wince reading dumb comments from Americans concerning Europe, it's nice to see that lots of folks over there are equally dense sometimes.

I've seen the pics and knew about that plane for a long time, but that is the first time i ever heard of the full details!

This sorta reminds me of when i was working in the National Parks a few years ago. Damned if people more often than not had an expectation of the animals being as tame as a fenced in pet.

WOV gold expansion campaign FPS?
Lt. James Cater replied to Ronbo's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I've run WOV Gold through a E Machines T-3120 and did rather well provided i kept down south in the Steel Tiger campaign. Even then things jammed up a bit when with mass CBU drops and such. One gets used to it after a while. My advice would be reducing the detail levels until you can find a point that is acceptable for you. As bad as the flak gets, you'll need as many other planes as possible on a mission to spread out the fire. -

Don't bother with anything fancy. Just get in as close as possible and cut loose. -

For Central and South America this is pretty much par for the course. Moral of story? Don't get locked up. -
The Double D's
Lt. James Cater replied to hgbn's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The way it's been done before MIA is end of pretty much end of story. Personally, i would be inclined to roll some dice and give something like a 10% chance of the pilot being among the living. PS will be out for a bit longer as i have to get a new monitor and joystick -
Adding Squadrons Question...
Lt. James Cater posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I really hate asking for this but... I've been researching this for a few days and though i've gotten tips from various places, i've yet to find an info source that has adding squadrons from step one through completion. I recently tried with WOV and came close but i know a step or two were overlooked and i can't figure out exactly what it is. This came about when i was trying to use the Skyraider in Malibus43's WOV Ground War Enhancement. I could see the squadrons listed but they didn't come up on the menus so i decided to wipe out my current setup and start from scratch with a fresh install with only patching involved to begin with. -
Help with wingman and other stuff..
Lt. James Cater replied to plague's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Your wingman always coming back with all Sparrows and Amraams is not at all normal. If i had it available i'd go lookin through data, inis (sic) and such to see if i could find something to help you. There has to be something that could be reset to make a change. -
What is your most formidable opponent?
Lt. James Cater replied to guyran's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
One overlooked plane that is quite the beast in the 62 campaign... The Canadair Sabre MK6 is a wonderful dogfighter and is quite deadly in a turning fight. Don't ever let your airspeed bleed against one or you are finished. -
What is your most formidable opponent?
Lt. James Cater replied to guyran's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Thinking about things since my last answer i've changed my opinions a bit. In the early campaigns, the MIG 19 is the big threat across the board on the Red side. It has it all over the F-100 in '62 and is still quite a threat vs F-4s in a close in fight. It's speed also makes it harder to disengage from compared to a 17. Speaking of the Mig 17, if you ever get low and slow with one around you are as good as gone. Call me a bit blase, but the MIG 23 i never consider a threat in a fight. The only threatening thing about them is SARM shots as one closes in or tries to disengage. In later campaigns the SU27 has a bit of an edge over the MIG 29 but both are formidable aircraft. -
Help with wingman and other stuff..
Lt. James Cater replied to plague's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
As for why wingmen sometimes don't use certain weapons? That one has always bugged me as well. Though it's not unusual for flight and element leaders to use up everything in a prolonged fight. A thing i do to organize things a bit is to put everyone in flights and make sure to have the more experienced pilots as leads. All things being equal, the more skilled get the benefit of the doubt. Here's something that might help a bit. http://combatace.com/topic/64208-woe-advice/page__p__490602__fromsearch__1#entry490602
