I changed the textures from 256 to 512. Was that a bad move? -
New F-14 Tanks
cgold replied to cgold's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I have the .bmp file named the same thing as the .lod file. Same as before... -
I thought of this and I was wondering what ya'll thought on this matter. If the US and the Russians got together and worked out a plan to "sell" the Su-33 plans to a US aircraft manufacturer ( Boeing / Lockheed / Grumman, Etc.), and build a Su-33-like aircraft but with all of the needs of the US gov't / military ( glass cockpit, defense mechanisms, missile systems, hardpoints, HUD, and other such items needed for the aircraft. ) In turn, the US would help the Russians somehow ( help re-work airbases, help develop an aircraft or just for the shear money.) Think in the capabilities of the aircraft and not in what we have already. If you think about it, as good as the Su-33 is now, think what one could do with Western technology. Thank you for your input.

Bone update
cgold replied to bigal1's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
You have my praise. -
Just some pics of loadouts of what may be employed on a "US-built" Su-33. The external tanks are F-18 tanks, but go well on this aircraft. The other pics show what loadouts do to affect landing gear motion, and other actions on an aircraft (flaps, etc.). Then there are pics of it just looking cool and such.

Some of you all may have seen a post like this earlier, but the new F-14 fuel tanks in the Mirage Factory weapons pack work...yes, but when I add that particular mod, it changes sounds, other weaponry, and much more. If I wanted to just add the fuel tanks and nothing else, what would one have to do for that to happen? I need to learn how to add weaponry b/c I still don't have the faintest clue. (eg. = the Amos missile for the MiG-31).

Fuel Tanks
cgold replied to cgold's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I finally got the new tanks working. The AA-9 Amos will have to wait. The weapon editor screws up the existing weapondata.ini file and then I have no weapons showing up in the game at all. So, hopefully, someone in the future will make a real complete weapons pack and we will have all of our problems solved. Thank you for your time, though. -
Where are the newer style fuel tanks for the F-14's by Mirage Factory? I've seen a few in the Screenshot link for July but I haven't been able to find a download for them. Or are they in a weapons update pack...possibly?

New Fuel Tanks

Thanks bpao. Is it this one? ---The Mirage Factory Weapon Pack - 01/02/2008--- And is this the one that has been de-bugged?--if it ever was. -
Just to let you know, those "fictitous warloads" is what our F-22's are using today. Maybe not the rocket pods, but the AGM-84's, AIM-120's, AIM-9X's, Mk.84's, GBU's, cluster bombs, and the Mavericks are some of the weaponry the F-22 will use or already has used.....very effectively I might add. Maybe I should pose this question...to everyone. -Would a "US built Su-33" do well in the US Navy? The Airforce has the F-22. It doesn't need much else. -
-
I downloaded the US Su-27 and tried some different loadouts on the aircraft. From what it looks like, it can carry quite a bit. I know this is the Su-27, but it is similar in airframe to the Su-33. If someone (Boeing, Lockheed, Grumman) modified the landing gear, hardpoints, tailhook, and update the folding wings system, you would have a very nice aircraft. BTW, when those wings fold up along with the stabilators, the aircraft is only 24 feet or so wide.

Yes, I am serious. The Su-33 is a very nice aircraft and - with the help of western technology- it could be a very capable naval fighter. The Air Force has the F-22. It doen't need much else. The F-22 can do anything that the Air Force needs. I was thinking purely about the physical being of a "US built Su-33" and not the politics behind it...thats not saying that the politics aren't to be ignored. Check these out.

I'll have to admit that the F-22 is a VERY nice aircraft. I saw it personally at NAS Oceana's Airshow last year. Boy, did it kick a lot of a$$! I was thinking in the respect in that it was super-maneuverable, plenty fast, and could carry lots of weaponry. The F-22 (to stay fully stealth) has to carry an internal load. Thats good no one can "see" you, but if someone does, can you fight back sufficiently? To my knowledge (which is limited) is that the F-22 can carry 6 AIM-120's and 2 AIM-9's internally. If you were going all out, they would carry more, but they lose their stealth capabilities. With the "Su-33", even though that it wasn't ever stealth, can carry up to 12 A2A missiles (of all different sizes and ranges), go mach 2+, do a "real" Cobra maneuver, and land and takeoff from a carrier. It may be expensive, but it may put those "Cold War Grudges" behind us and may push us foward in relations with Russia and with world peace. Plus, if they thought that we would use these "Su-33's" against them, why would we fight the country that sold us the plans?

I know there isn't a RJAF Mirage F-1 skin out for download...yet. I am sending fougamagister the skins I made today and we (more fougamagister than me) will come up with an official skin in a little while. I highly doubt...2 weeks. The screens are out for your perusial and the skin(s) are coming soon. Feel the need...

I 'talked' with fougamagister, and "we" will work on the skins but I highly doubt it will be soon before they will be released. For now, I am going to work on the skins and remove the screen pack. Sorry ya'll. My bad... -

A-5 fantan
cgold replied to 101tfs's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
I have seen marcelo's early model of the Fantan and it got my attention from day one. I have been waiting for one to come out for so long! Feel the need... -
I used the SFp1 File Extracter to see if it would extract files from WOI (F-16, etc.). I extracted everything that the F-16 needed from WOI "object.CAT" (I think that's what it's called) file and it flies fine. The only thing is that the maintenance guys are using a really good form of Windex to clean the canopy because I can't even see it! I did the same thing for the F-15A Baz and it's canopy is visible. Note below. What is going on?
