Keep a Base install Zipped man, if something goes wrong, you delete the install, open the Zip extract to the folder... its tons quicker than running the installs for SF2, SF2v, SF2e, SF2i, SF2exp1, SF2exp2, patch patch patch. -

SkateZilla replied to SkateZilla's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I bought Oblivion less than 1 hour before it went 60% off one saturday, bought it in the morning so it would download to my brother's system while we were at hockey practice, came back and found out a 66% off sale started less than a hour after I bought it. -

the wavs are locked in the CATs but putting modified ones in the flight folder take priority over the ones in the Cat. -

I installed everything (Base Components, Expansions), then Copied/Extracted every CAT to a separate folder for safe keeping. Then patched up. Might be easier to just: 1. Backup and Rename your current /users/SavedGames/Thirdwire folder (so installers don’t over write what you have). 2. Install everything SF2, SF2V, SF2E, SF2 I, SF1 Exp1, SF2 Exp2 to a custom folder (x:/Thirdwire/OldSF2/) 3. Copy the entire game to a new folder or just copy all the cat files 4. Install the Cat Extractor for that version’s CATs into a custom folder (x:/Thirdwire/OldCatExtracter/) 5. Copy the Files to the same folder as the “unpatched” install. 6. Zip/Rar them for Safe Keeping, or if you need them frequently just keep them safe. 7. Re-Instate your Modded /Saved Games/Thirdwire/ folder. 8. Resume using your Patched up SF2 installs. -
Questions about Strike Fighters 2 original
SkateZilla replied to daddyairplanes's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
the desert terrain and campaign that goes with it. AFAIK most if not all the jets in SF2 are in the other versions. -

well another thing keeping from playing SF2 besides my GPU being RMA'd my X52 bit the dirt in the last few days, when fully connected it blinks, none of the stick inputs work, but the throttle buttons and axis do, I guess the PS/2 cable or connector went bad.? -

In which .cat file, I find default sounds?
SkateZilla replied to AGOSTINO's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
if they are locked they wont show. i had extracted every voice, wind loop, engine sound, gun sound, explosion sound from the cat less than 2 months ago. -

SkateZilla replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
the changes that occurred at SimHQ would have taken place regardless of CombatAce's status. -

every patch disables or hard code's parameters that were normally mod-able, which is whats perterbing a lot of people. and most of the locking seems to have been done because: A. The game engine wasnt designed to or capable of running the parameters without heavy modification (which causes issues) B. Too many people with laptops had issues with it even on low settings. The fact that TW is going "Mobile" is no surprise to me, as they've been catering to Laptop and Low end users since SFP1. -
Question My Friends
SkateZilla replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
He didnt ride in on the horse.... its dead. Combat Ace goes down, SimHQ closes 3W forum, then makes it Read Only, CombatAce returns, 3W forum is back... If i didnt know any better, I'd say... ............... But i know whats going on at SimHQ, so it was just bad timing. -

DCS and LoMAC are not the same animal, DCS World, once fully deployed and out of Beta, will have 3rd party Modules (Jets) being released faster than FSX Did. every module will be pretty much Study Sim Level of Detail. -
