  1. Gads - almost two years have gone by since this original thread of mine. I am still working in my spare time on the various F-4 versions with correct serial numbers and markings - I am finalizing an F-4B and F-4E again based on the original work of Dave Hobbs. If you liked my earlier F-4C versions, you'll like these. I also passed along an F-4D model to X RAY soon to appear here to go along with a project that he is working on (although I just found a few errors on the model).

It's good to know that you're still working on improving the details, thank you. I really like your detailed parts (and models), my favourite is the correct undernose RHAW fairing on the F-4D. (Shame that it can't be repainted, so I can't use it on my Hill Grey F-4Ds, but I can't have it all, can I?) :)

If you need them for SF2, you will need to adapt them yourself though - I stuck with the 1st generation series. In the meantime, the Mirage Factory ARN-101 version of the F-4E is still very good and highly recommended, and like Dave said, they are still available here for both series, and you can't beat the superb hi-resolution skins and markings that Sundowner and others have created for them.

Like I said above, I have the TMF ARNie F-4E and it's really a masterpiece. But I also like fiddling with my little mods (mainly skins and decals), that was the reason why I dared to ask about these parts. Thank you for your answer (and your mods).

  2. I have lots of little parts I need for myself - TISEO, ADSID, SUU-7, the BLU-1s without the end caps, maybe a new CL 600 gal tank, ARN-101 on F-4E spine, and on and on. The possibilities now are virtually endless.

    Hi Mike,

I'm curious to know (therefore I am HUMBLY asking) if you still plan to make these (I'm especially interested in the TISEO and the ARN-101 spine fairing). Thank you.

  3. Razorback F-4C in Egypt I Scheme

Razorback F-4C in Egypt I Scheme (for SFP1, WoV & WoE)

This skin depicts an F-4C of the 184th TFS (aka the 'Flying Razorbacks'), painted in the Egypt I scheme. At least one plane of this squadron (the MiG killer 64-0748) wore this livery in 1988-89. The 184th TFS is assigned to the Arkansas ANG. They flew the F-4C from 1979.

Extract the 'Objects' folder and copy it directly into your game directory. Now, hopefully, you can select the skin in the loadout menu within the game.

    Thanks to:

    Drdoyo for his F-4E template;

    Bobrock for the weathering layers I borrowed from his F-104G template;

Mppd & Sundowner for some skin details (cockpit inside and exhaust area).

    Phantoms phorever!

  4. Hey Blade, did you make that skin yourself? Where can I get it?

    Hi,

I'm happy that you like my little teaser. :salute:

I made this skin some time ago for the 1st gen (SFP1, WoV & WoE) F-4C.

It hasn't been released, because some skin details were borrowed from others' (mppd's & Sundowner's) works.

If you get me Sundowner's approval (mppd states in his readmes that 'we are free to use any of his art', so I guess no permission is needed from him), I can upload it for you and for anyone interested.

Anyway, the skin is 1024x1024 and based on Drdoyo's template.

  5. Many types of aircraft were used to deploy sensors in LAOS to detect the movement of supplies heading south. Among these were F-4Ds of the 25th TFS at Ubon. A typical sensor was ADSID - a seismic sensor detecting ground tremors from moving trucks (or personnel?). The sensor looked like a camouflaged lawn dart with antenna sticking out the top made to look like foliage when buried in the ground. Looked interesting hanging from a Phantom MER!

    Thank you for the explanation.

  6. Just kidding about the Navy F-4 thing...but I have to say that I don't think that I have ever tried flying onto or off of a carrier in WOV yet!! But I will eventually.

You should try. I cannot depict the amazement what I felt after my first successful trap.

If the big guys don't come through in a little while, I'll be glad to try to make the parts for you (us).

Thank you, you'd make me real happy. Sadly, I don't think I have either the time or the inclination (let alone the skills) to 'get into the 3D business', so I'll be waiting patiently for you and the other big guys. :notworthy:

TISEO, ADSID, SUU-7, the BLU-1s without the end caps, maybe a new CL 600 gal tank, ARN-101 on F-4E spine.

I am familiar with all but one of these expressions. Would you be so kind to let me know what ADSID is?

    Thanks,

    Bl.

  7. Hi again,

Did the Navy fly F-4s also? Learn something new every day....

I just don't understand why you're saying this...

Anyway, I know that these things are really hard to learn and I appreciate your hard work put into perfecting the F-4C/D. That was the reason why I gathered all my courage to ask you, because, for me, the DECM fairings of the F-4J/N are something like the correct LEFs and RHAW gear of the F-4C/D for you. Been missing these for a loooong time...

Sundowner's post above has given me new hope, so I'm busy waiting. Thanks and sorry for bothering.

  8. Hi Mike,

You seem to be into AF Phantoms rather than USN/USMC birds, but seeing the things you managed to accomplish gave me an idea. I don't have the tools and the skills to realize it (otherwise I'd do it myself), so I'm asking you.

Would you be so kind - of course only if you happen to have some free time and some inclination - to build the DECM fairings located on the intakes of the later F-4J (shorter fairing) and the F-4N (longer fairing)?

I hope you give a thought to my humble request. :notworthy: Otherwise sorry for bothering.

  9. now here is the weird part the standard third wire F-4J loads the Aim-7F/M but the F-4S does not, and I believe the F-4N has the same problem.

Just an idea: check if there are lines starting with "DiameterLimit=" or similar in the AIM-7 station entries.

(And a note in brackets: the F-4S (and B/J/N) had the chaff and flare dispensers on the top of the rear fuselage,

unlike in the case of USAF Phantoms, which had them on the rear part of the innerwing pylons.)

  10. I installed Pasko's SAM pack and the modified Israel terrain (forgot who the author is), so now there are a lot of Chapparals and Strelas and so.

Problem is, they never seem to engage anything. Missiles show up on the launchers, so it isnt that.

I tried setting even the early Chapparals to all-aspect and I think I got one launch sofar, but that apparently didn't guide, as it didn't show up in the mission log.

Another Problem is that many SAMs seem to blow up on launch or directly after launch, especially with HAWK and Osa-M (SA-8).

Been playing with the Chaparral recently and had similar issues. I tried fiddling with the missile's parameters, and increasing the field of view seemed to solve the problem (or at least increased the frequency of missile launches). Perhaps an increased FOV (40-50 degrees) is no too historically correct for the Chaparral, but at least it seems to work now...

IIRC the SA-8 explodes because of a misplaced missile. When the launcher fires that missile it basically "hits itself" with it and explodes. Try checking the missile positions in the launcher's data.ini.

And, IIRC, in case of the HAWK, the culprit is an incorrect hitbox. Try to change (i.e. decrease) the Min and MaxExtentPositions in the launchers data.ini.
