can we create a multi-player mission variety of load outs?
JediMaster replied to Kevo's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
My problem is that certain planes get crappy loadouts when flying MP. For instance, the A-10 in WOE always gets 2 LGBs and some CBUs, no Mavericks! Unless I have the date set too early, but I don't think so... -
Ironic. As the Romulan who said "Now we're back" was the same actor who later played Gul Dukat on DS9--Marc Alaimo!

Help with F-16b
JediMaster replied to triplethr3at's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I'm not positive, but have you installed the single-seat F-16 as well? Some planes presume you have another related model installed first. -
To be clear, this is done by the publisher of OFP, but not the same developer. Instead of BIS, this is being done by CM internally. BIS just released Armed Assault, kind of an OFP 1.5, but has cut all ties with Codemasters and has no involvement with this project.

Half a bee, philosophically, must ipso facto half not-be. But half a bee has got to be vis a vis it's entity. Do you see? But can a bee be said to be or not to be an entire bee, When half the bee is not a bee, due to some ancient injury? G'day, Bruce! Oh, Hello Bruce! How are you Bruce? A bit crook, Bruce. Where's Bruce? He's not 'ere, Bruce. Blimey, it's hot in here, Bruce. Hot enough to boil a monkey's bum! That's a strange expression, Bruce. Well Bruce, I heard the Prime Minister use it. "It's hot enough to boil a monkey's bum in here, your Majesty," he said and she smiled quietly to herself. She's a good Sheila, Bruce, and not at all stuck up.

"I can't make out a thing on this." "Yes, sir. That's because it's the coffee machine. This is the radar." "I know that. I always have coffee while I'm watching radar." "I told you to knock before coming in here!" "Yes, sir! Sorry, sir!" "Did you see anything?" "No, sir, I didn't see you playing with your dolls again!" "Good!" My favorite scene: "Hello, my baby, hello, my honey, hello my ragtime gal! Honey you look so fine, baby my heart's on fire..."

As the RA-5Cs were modified A's and not B's, that's excellent news for recon flyers! -

I only thought occasional things on Chappelle were funny, I like most of Carlos' stuff. -
MiG-31 Firefox
JediMaster replied to ValAstur's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
That's not exactly the pic I remember. The front is similar, but the tail section behind the wing trailing edge is different. Maybe that one is an internal MiG concept. As for the Ramenskoye sat shots, I saw some of those of the Tu-160 next to the Tu-144 and other fighters, taken in the late 70s. While I could tell which was the MiG-29 as I already knew its shape, I would've been hard-pressed to guess its accurate design based on that. Of course, NATO got numbers confused before. I believe the MiG-23/25/27 group was muddied a bit before the USSR released official info as to which plane had which number. -
F/A-18F Super Hornet
JediMaster replied to Marcfighter's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
The USN was supposed to get 3 new planes, one to replace the A-6 (A-12), one to replace the F/A-18A/C (JAST), and one to replace the F-14 (NATF). In the event, 2 of the 3 were cancelled (mostly due to money) and the other became the still-waiting-for F-35. The SH was rushed into development primarily to replace the A-6 but also the F-14 as they decided to retire them. -
Some A-6 questions
JediMaster replied to allenjb42's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
IIRC, the ones the USN/USMC use are the heavier Mav variants with the larger warhead. Perhaps the TER doesn't work so well with them? As for the TER, they only seem to carry pairs operationally in a slant load, with the 3rd spot always vacant. -
Ditto on Armada I beating A2. While technically A2 was better than A1, better graphics, the addition of 3D space, and so on, it had a far weaker story, weaker AI, and weaker MP than the first game. I dumped my copy of A2 just a year after I got it, but I still have A1 somewhere.

It was so fun listening to the cast commentaries on the DVD with Jerry and Bruce and so on. They always talked about Mira getting all that exposition. "A thousand years ago..." She's got an interesting recurring part on Lost now.

The Gal-X was only seen in the TNG series finale, "All Good Things...", right? I don't remember seeing it any other time.

I played all those old SW games on the PC. Rebel Assault, first that required a CDROM, a hint of the console-type games to come. Dark Forces, first official SW FPS game (there were Doom mods out first). X Wing, a game doing officially what Wing Commander had already done unofficially. One of the must fun SW games ever made really didn't need to be in the SW universe at all, Ep I Pod Racer. It was just a fun racing game with upgrades and all.

Perhaps the Final Five are something altogether new...

You mean the Russian demo, right? I thought the full English version wasn't out yet.

Il-2/Luft 46 package
JediMaster replied to ST0RM's topic in IL-2 Series / Pacific Fighters / Cliffs of Dover: General Discussion
oh, yeah, that could be a problem, hard to say. I installed 1946 into a totally new directory (it defaulted to one with "1946" in the name) so I avoided that pitfall. I then went and uninstalled the previous FB+AEP+PF one, as I had no further need of it. -
f15 files
JediMaster replied to kmfdm665attak's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series Modding/Skinning Chat
I don't know what files those are offhand, but I'd think they'd be available on the CD? -
Right, right, that's enough. This thread has become very silly. Off you go, then! Hello!! Hello!!! Yes? Who eez eet? Whose castle is this? This is the castle of my master, Guy de Lombard! Go and tell your master that if he offers us food and shelter for the night that he may join us on our quest for the Holy Grail. Well, I'll ask eem, but I don't sink he'll be very keen. He's already got one. *I told them we've already got one!* *snicker* He's already got one?!?! Yes, eet's very nice. What did he say? He said they've already got one. Can we come up and see it? No! Why not? You are stupid English types! What are you then? I'm French! Why else would I have this outrageous accent??

I guess the hand's on the other foot now, eh, Kramer? Alright boys, let's take some pictures. *all rush to yank pictures off the walls of the office* "I'll take the Focke-Wulf!" I have to concentrate...concentrate...concentrate...concentrate... I have to concentrate...concentrate...concentrate...concentrate... Hello???Hello???Hello???Hello??? Echo...Echo...Echo...Echo... Pinch hitting for Pedro Borbon... Manny Mota... Mota... Mota... What was it we had for dinner tonight? Well, we had a choice: steak or fish. Yes. Yes, I remember. I had lasagna. Captain, how soon can you land? I can't tell. You can tell me, I'm a doctor. No. I mean I'm just not sure. Well, can't you take a guess? Not for another 2 hours. You can't take a guess for another 2 hours? No, I can't land for another 2 hours!

I still fail to see why certain people feel qualified to air their unqualified opinions in the media.

I've got that one on DVD. They did a special release only recently after years of non-availability. There's also the 2 Philadelphia Experiment films, although the 2nd one was pretty bad. There was Fatherland with Rutger Hauer, that was pretty good. The Jedi Master

I always liked the Excelsior, ever since I saw it first at age 11.
