  1. Excellent! I've been eagerly awaiting this! Ah, nevermind. I just saw the 2nd file now. That will teach me not to read carefully!! :blush2:
  2. Welcome Everyone

As long as there's a replacement for the English release, that's fine. Oh, and AFAIK there isn't any planned US release yet. However, the UK version should be available here from places like gogamer.com and maybe others?
  3. Armed Assault Demo Server

I hope they fix up the performance a bit. I can't believe my X800 XT is THAT slow!! :cray:
  4. Question.......

I'm one of the minority that enjoyed CFS3 for what it was. I enjoy OFF as well for what it does. Neither do I recommend for MP, however. Unless you stick with totally stock installs all around (which isn't great, they are so much better with mods) it's pointless. So, if you have a known group that flies together and that you could get all on the same page, great. Otherwise, I generally do my offline flying with CFS3 and my online (what I do of it) with Il-2. For WWI, I'm sort of out of luck though until more people get FE!
  5. World War V mod?

Those sketches look like something Da Vinci would've done if he'd lived longer and concentrated on heavier-than-air flight! :)
  6. Formations Question

As an aside, that's how the early LGB's worked, too. Flying down a laser-defined "box" and bouncing off the sides of it! This meant the surfaces were often deflecting a lot and often, which shortened range. Later models now try and fly down the center, with less deflecting of control surfaces, greater range, and greater accuracy.
  7. Caproni Ca.3 released

Sweet! Of course, I need to get off my butt and actually GET FE first. ;) So little time lately...
  8. Community Announcement

I've not been able to come here as much as I used to (since the site was blocked at work after that hacking business flagged the site as "criminal hacking/phishing" :(), but I didn't think it an unusual requirement. Well, ok, unusual in the form it took, perhaps, but not in the idea. It was a legitimate non-intrusive way to increase forum participation. If you have to post 5, why not ask about that weird problem you had once? Why not tell someone else how you got around the problem they're having? Of course, some people will resent ANYTHING being asked of them. You can never satisfy anyone, and you'll go nuts trying. :)
  9. Hamachi is a little program that lets you simulate a LAN over the internet. Everyone joins a "network"/channel (which you can PW protect if you want), then go into your favorite game and choose LAN for MP games and all you'll see are the servers on that. The Jedi Master
  10. Ken Lay is Dead

Perhaps it's just karma? The Jedi Master
  11. Too bad their transfer speed is so slow there... Crap, as it goes it keeps slowing down??!? Sigh...90 mins to DL it. The Jedi Master
  12. Oops! Bold Games has exceeded their site's bandwidth!?!? Ouch! The Jedi Master
  13. Well, it's May 25, anyone have it? :) The Jedi Master
  14. CDV just dropped SF. They're a publisher, however, like Ubisoft, not a developer like ED. As for LOMAC, I like the planes it models. Of course, there are 2 levels to it. There's the A-10/Su-27/F-15/MiG-29, and then there are the 2 Su-25s. Flying those are harder than F4. The Jedi Master
  15. Welcome Everyone

OFP was an infantry sim. The vehicles were always more BF-quality as far as FMs/DMs/usage/cockpits. However, that didn't stop it from being the best of its type ever. Joint Ops was the only game to approach this type of sim again, and it fell short in a number of areas, including SP play, enemy AI, map size, etc. I can't WAIT for ArmA. Once I have that, "Game 2" will not be important for at least another 5 years. ;) The Jedi Master
  16. Ghost Recon Advanced Bug finder

While GRAW isn't the GR2 we were waiting for, it's still a good tactical squad-based FPS. It does have its limits and its shortcomings, but what doesn't nowadays? I am looking forward to ArmA as well, though! The Jedi Master
  17. I'm glad, as I've been unable to convince the guys I fly with to get SFP1 or WoV due to its limited MP, but I think I've got at least some convinced on WoE's merits. The Jedi Master
  18. Falcon 4.0 and Falcon 4.0 Allied Force

The manual will mostly apply. There are a few changes in procedures and keys here and there, so you do need the new one from time to time. However, things like the training missions are brought over from the old F4 and F4:AF's manual doesn't talk about them! So people who do not have the old F4 manual are at a disadvantage there. I'm one of the people who bought the binder edition of F4 back in 12/98 and I never got rid of it. :) The Jedi Master
  19. Strategy First to use Steam

That's an unusual decision. However, I guess they figure people who already have Steam (of which there are a large number) might be amenable to getting DW from there. The Jedi Master
  20. Need some help

I'd say your problem is the video card. I'm not sure exactly what that is, but it sounds like an integrated card that LOMAC will NOT like. You'll likely have to spend $100 or so to get a card good enough to run LOMAC and other modern games. The Jedi Master
  21. Labels

I have ZERO hope of avoiding missiles with labels off right now. :) The Jedi Master
  22. Does the Fulcrum have ECM/chaff? I seem to remember there being an issue with it being too effective vs RH missiles... The Jedi Master
  23. Bombing has always been tough in SFP1. Andy Bush wrote an article series at SimHQ about how he and others did it back in the 60s as well as how to do it in SFP1. As for if it could be, my guess is no. It wasn't designed for that and would require work on the part of the developer, work that I'd guess is more than they'd be willing to add in a patch. 24. If you're connected, you should see "Cancel" or "Stop" at the bottom of the MP connect screen instead of "Start". Then, click the button that has two arrows going around corners to point at each other along the top. That lets you choose red or blue side. Once you do that, click the airplane icon on the far left and you can pick a plane slot for that side. Then click the payload on the right side and set that up, finally you'll be able to click fly in the lower right. The problem is the UI isn't user friendly and takes some getting used to. Keep in mind that the knob on the right will toggle you between the client/server MP settings and the ability to name your pilot and change payloads. The Jedi Master, veteran of many a LOMAC coop flight ;)
  25. My first helo sim was DI's Apache, back in 1994 I think. Then came the sequel, Hind and EA released Jane's Longbow and then Longbow 2. LB2 is still considered the "benchmark" of helo sims. The Enemy Engaged series (Apache/Havoc and Comanche/Hokum) were less complex but just as fun. EECH came out in 2000...the last helo sim released! (I don't count NL's Comanche series) I can't wait for this one. The Jedi Master
