I'd like to make one observation here..... wing low is not advised in a CRJ. ....... SHEEEEETMETALLLLLLL I'd hate to be the captain in some of those videos!...... Hello Dispatch, can I speak with the maintenence controller? Yeah, this is the Captain of 1428, we're going to need a mechanic before we can continue, and could you also send 8 ($$$$$) main tires.

Water shimmering with GermanyCE Terrain Tiles by Brain32
drdoyo replied to geoff's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Mikey try this, there were a large number of variables different in your data.ini in many sections. I'm using Fubar512's watershaders BTW. NOTE for ANYONE using this: BACKUP YOUR GermanyCE_data.ini before trying this. drdoyos_GERMANYCE_DATA.zip Hope this helps! -
Canopy Ups and Downs

I for one do not like.... Ok no sugar coating here...'despise' the "automatic airspeed" entries, I much prefer this (excerpt from stock WOX F-4E Phantom , data entries by NFG) // Canopy Animation --------------------------------------------- [canopy_front_outer] SystemType=ANIMATION InputName=ANIMATION_2 DeploymentMethod=MANUAL AnimationTime=6.0 AnimationID=3 // Crew --------------------------------------------------------- [Pilot] SystemType=PILOT_COCKPIT Position=0.0,6.36,0.74 SeatModelName=seat_f-4 SeatPosition=0.00,6.36,0.31 MinExtentPosition=-0.25, 5.91,-0.20 MaxExtentPosition= 0.25, 6.99, 0.92 CanopyNodeName=canopy_front_outer CanopyAnimationID=3 [CoPilot] SystemType=PILOT_COCKPIT Position=0.0,4.95,0.84 SeatModelName=seat_f-4 SeatPosition=0.0,4.95,0.41 MinExtentPosition=-0.25, 4.50,-0.11 MaxExtentPosition= 0.25, 5.44, 1.07 CanopyNodeName=canopy_rear_outer CanopyAnimationID=3 I have full control over it being opened or closed, and the entry is much neater. -

Water shimmering with GermanyCE Terrain Tiles by Brain32
drdoyo replied to geoff's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Again I would need to see the file to be sure, my problem stemmed from BOTH the [HeightOffset] values and the AlphaObjectxxxCount= entries. I had to fix BOTH sets of entries to get rid of this effect, neither set of entries alone fixed it. Those screen shots look exactly like what I had happening. And is Germany CE the only terrain this problem exists in? If I'm correct those patches are caused by the game NOT allocating enough memory to draw the alpha shader points in the moving water, and this results in clipping (empty spots) in the distance where the water shader is not even being drawn over the background texture. -

Continue reading the KB geoff. If you stopped there you missed something which might solve your problems. There was a followup post there by me. Also, some screenshots of what you are seeing would help. You never know, you might have found something new, or unsolved. Christian, those are old entries, geoff posted the entries which are current since the Sept patch -

IMHO CG seems fine to me. The nose down issue seems to be an aerodynamic issue (lift values perhaps). My mains came off the runway before the nose and before rotation was commanded. I did a "very quick" comparison to the B-52 and nearly all the basic lift values of the bear are somewhat higher than 'the B-52s which should climb somwhat nose level initially'. -
Bering Straits Terrain & Targets Upgrade
drdoyo replied to Wrench's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
The couple of times I've flown it Eric I've had runways, and the textures are in the zip. Are you using the 'current' Sept/Oct2008 GermanyCE.CAT? Shimmering Water: I have it, but I admit to modding the terrain tiles straight from the zip ( FUBAR voice made me do it ,..."WATER tiles should be a SOLID color for the alpha shaders" ) and also the watereffects.fx and a lot of the DBS_data.ini -

Cannonist converted......if as a whole it's half as good as that trailer. I'm still not sure how I feel about the new Battlestar Galactica, but this new Star Trek movie looks..... awesome.

Vulcan Altitude Problem
drdoyo replied to Mig_eater's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Has it always done this? From what you've said I have to wonder if it's just the game's altitude display switching from a radar altitude indication to a pressure altitude indication. This happens between 2000 and 3000 feet. Radar altimeters usually max out at 2500ft. -
WeaponsData.ini File missing
drdoyo replied to Skelator56's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Are you using the Wings Over Israel weapon editor? If not, you should be. The Sept 2008 and Oct 2008 patches bring ALL sims up to WOI standards, so use the WOI utilities. -
Well, as far as fire extinguishing systems go, I've seen OURS go off like that. Two times (in one months time) while in the INANG and once in the KYANG. The first time we had 10 F-16s in the hanger, 8 of them ready for a deployment and getting the final buttoning up. Foam was 3 feet deep everywhere, including inside the jets (very bad). The last time a C-130 was midway up it's landing gear pods in faom and water.

I don't know if this is what you all are talking about with the missing decals, and I havn't dug into FE as much as I do the other ThirdWire games but..... If you are talking about DecalLevel=2 decals sometimes showing and sometimes not such as in he following lines from the SE5a decals.ini ...... [Decal023] MeshName=Wing Lower Inner L DecalLevel=2 DecalFacing=BOTTOM FilenameFormat=BlackLetter Position=-1.15,-0.49 Scale=1.5 DecalMaxLOD=3 All of TKs other games use a system of decal000 through decal099 for DecalLevel=2. The game engine "chooses" a random number in the 000 to 099 series for the lead plane unless specified in the campaignXXX_data.ini entries. This means that 1) unless you choose specific markings in the loadout screen for your flight (you will not be able to affect AI flights) in single missions, or 2) unless a marking range is specified for the squadron in the campaign_data.ini and losses have not exceeded this range or 3) unless there are 100 level 2 decals (decal000 to decal099) then chances are the game will assign a decal0XX outside the range of available decals for that location. If this is what is being referred to, then it's not a bug, it's just insufficient decals available for the game to use and this has been present in the entire series.

....Off in the distance not far from camp, you could hear it's growl. We prepared for the inevitable, but without waring it struck. It took down our defenses before we were aware it was upon us ........... and then the rest of the pack joined the foray. What kind of beast could forshadow this madness and devistation? -
Drop tank color won't match?
drdoyo replied to mppd's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
I have also experianced this effect in the past being caused by the color depth of one bmp not matching the other. Make sure both are saved as 24bit. the lesser depth value bmp had that same effect in one of my projects. Took me an hour to figure it out. Looks like your cooking more Voodoo mike
